I heard this at work today and was stunned by the lyrics. I haven't been able to put how I've been feeling into words for sometime now but this articulated it perfectly.
@BrokenAngel151 To me it represents wasting your life away changing and not knowing who you are and what you want anymore. Being given everything and just wasting it. About wanting other peoples lives. "Looking in your window and dressing in your clothes" just wanting to be anyone but you. I do that. I go on sites for celebrities and desperately want a life other than my own. This song really touches me.
thanks man for putting the album and for those other people who keep commenting on my page saying that blacks shouldnt listen to this music and that i hate my own race stop please
this is my favorite song ever! im not christian. but i love flyleaf their songs mean something else to me. like when lacey talks about god, idk it kinda makes me think about someone else. like my boyfriend or my mom. all in all i LOVE flyleaf!!
"In the hearts of the blind, something you'll never find is a vision of light"
Yeah that definitely has some roots of christianity in it. I am not trying to start a huge debate but most if not all their songs have some reference to christianity because they are christians.
i don't like songs about that... i feel like there constanly telling me to go to church and worship and i don't want to. I hate being nagged. when i listen to their songs i don't think about the true religious meanings because i don't want to so i make up my own story of what they mean it's alot funner
Really? I love the guitar. X3 Something about it is just so pretty. Listen to that guitar in the opening! I don't know how to describe that sound. It's also in the chorus very faintly and it plays right after the chorus. So gorgeous.

I thought this song was about a chick stalking her ex boyfriend because listen Ive been lookin in your window ive been dressing in your clothes watching you. long enough to know i cant go on..
Love this song. It made me cry the first couple times...Reminds me of myself a couple years ago...Not to start an argument, but everyone who tries to deny or refute that Flyleaf writes Christian songs, listen to this whole album (Memento Mori). I know, I know, they aren't a Christian band, but their members are Christian. Still, this whole album is just filled with the story of Jesus' love. You can try and interpret them other ways, but it's unmistakable.
It should be. Every song is about Jesus. I like their sound, but I'm not thrilled about some of the messages. Like... "With no regrets we never bled and we took everything life could give
And came up broken empty handed in the end"
Don't live life to the fullest? The rest of the lyrics lead me to believe they didn't live life with Jesus, but how does that connect to living life without regrets?
But yeah, I wish they would write about someone else. o_o
They are but they aren't officially labeled such. I'm sure someone quoted POD somewhere...it's something to the effect of "if I'm Christian and a plumber, am I a Christian plumber?" I personally feel they should be labeled Christia, because the majority of the songs have a strong sense of that message. But they are not labeled that way on the charts. It shouldn't be this hard to explain lol I'm still going to call them a Christian band, but when you look into genres and labels, they aren't.
I completely agree. Circle and Arise are my two favorite songs on Memento Mori. Did you see the video of them singing "How He Loves" in concert? It was great. WAAAY better than David Crowder Band's version.
actually they didnt want to label themselves as a christian band because they say that there are too many bands that say they are a christian band because of the money spent on christain music and not because of the bands beliefs. They basically didnt want to seem like they were a band that was in it for money and not the real reason of praising God. So they actually stray from referring to themselves as a christian band.
That's what I thought they meant at first, too, but I think what they meant is that if you take everything for granted and just do whatever you want for YOU and only you, you won't be happy in the end.
@peruru84 inside the cd, the booklet has journal entries that explain the songs more... if you read them it's alot more clear what they're talking about. You're right though, it does.
@peruru84 You really have to read the Commander's letter matching this song in the CD booklet to get it. That's not the message. The message is that that's what it'll be like if you remain in the "dread army," or for all intensive purposes, an unrepented sinner.
I think by "no regrets" they basically mean not giving a damn whether you do something right or wrong; basically not learning from anything and being a jerk all over the place.
This song is simply amazing!! So much symbolism, not just with God, but with people in general. We try to copy everyone else, but never notice that while we try to live to be like someone else, our own life is dying. We forget who we are, what we like or dislike. We try become a celebrity or a popular kid instead of being ourselves. Same thing with our walk with Christ. We try to be like the world instead of stepping out and being who God has called us to be.
like the song, but looking at these interpretations I'm a bit uncomfortable. mostly b/c I'm a jew and from what people are saying it sounds like lacey is trying to convert me..... o_O
@sheldrake123 you can only be converted if you choose to let it happen. shes said that the music isnt all about god, but because their religion is a part of them its a part of their music. believe what you want this is still damn good music
Basically the song is talking about not knowing who you are with out God.
In the chorus she says I've been looking in your window and dressing in your clothes..she is talking about herself. Essentially she is referring to herself as two separate people...one personality being the mask she put on for others before she knew Jesus and the true sincere person she is now molding herself into.
So really..you aren't really alive until you find God because you are living a life someone made up4 you...
this is an amazing song. how do they come up with such inspiring lyrics?

Agreed. They've gone fairly secular recently, with occasional songs that mention Christ. :)
But they still rock.

i think this is quite possibly the most they've ever represented christ with their music--as in like praise him and recognize him, you know?

They ARE. They've defined themselves as that. I'd rather call them by what they want to be called than what other people refer to them as.

Yes, but, some of their songs aren't about Christ at all. And, not too surprisingly, those are the songs I like...

You live with out knowing christ.(dead)
you pretend everything is ok. (we pretended that we still lived. Lived a good life, but in the end,got nothing out of it.
Not once have I been real.(never been perfect)
Until Christ came into my life. (but ive never felt this close before.
Trying to live like Christ. (looking in window, dressing in clothes
People who dont know Christ have no hope. (in the hearts of the blind...
Fire fell(Hell)
Warned of this hell(someone preached Christ, they ignored it)
