I am reading the book right now. The film does not really match the book very much, but the aspect and the plot are basically the same. The weirdest difference between the two, to me, is that, in the film, the main character, Robert Neville, is an almost middle aged black man with black hair, and in the book, he is a blond haired white guy with a beard in his late 30's or early to mid 40's. I love both the book and the Movie, but in different ways.

I liked both endings for different reasons. Theatrical version: I liked because it gives meaning to the title, but didn't like b/c Will Smith's character dies. Alternate version: liked b/c Smith's character lives on, didn't like b/c it sort of took meaning away from the title I Am Legend.
