  • Is the locals vs. transplants tension heavy in Asheville? It's not a knock against the city, that tension is everywhere, more or less

  • @XxgregfullxX That debate heats up from time to time, but it isn't a predominant conversation around town. There's room for everyone. Funny story - a guy drove past a tour group yelling "Don't move here!". His plates were from Oregon. #irony

  • @exploreasheville Lol, well that's unusual ;) I'm glad to hear tension isn't too high in Asheville, gonna have a fun time visiting in summer!

  • @jnifr Yeah it does seem like everyone is.... So from now on i just keep my personal details to myself. Lol, but i do understand what your saying there's always that odd ball!

  • how can you show a video of downtown asheville without the greyish living statue with a bird on his guitar or the drum circle. Locals you know what im talking about

  • @XifyouhavetoaskX Pretty sure it was aimed more at the older folks, the type that wake up to see GMA, not that are still up and end up watching it.

  • Please respond: Is the downtown area the "ARTS Community"? .That's where I wanna go. Is by all the schools. I wanna become a broadcast technician. Repairing tv, radio, cameras, etc. Are there tech. trade schools there? Maybe I can do it online. Thanks for a response

  • @cellardoor199991 Downtown is certainly one of the artistic areas of the city, however the River Arts District is probably the heart of it all. I'm not sure if there are any trade schools for that particular field.

  • @exploreasheville thanks

  • @cellardoor199991 Yeah it's nice here if you have wads of money in the bank. there are NO good jobs here. There are plenty of minimum wage jobs here if u are that pressed to move down here.

  • @cellardoor199991 the best school here is AB Tech. i go there. Everyone I know has gone there or is going there now. I am sure they have a program that you want to get into.

  • man ive lived in Asheville ever since i was born and now everywhere i look there tourist they even have a tour bus? Damn.

  • @Hamza3014 Did your grandpapa kill of the Cherokee too?, nothing to be proud of if you have generations of family in Asheville, it means your ancestors killed natives, took over Cherokee Nation and probably did some lynching back in the day

  • @amkali24 kill off

  • @amkali24 Woahhh lol i just live here and im a quarter blood! I love its my home!!

  • App-a-LATCH-en.

  • @HappinessGuano You only pronounce it that way if you live here

  • @jnifr Born and raised. :)

  • @HappinessGuano ditto

  • @jnifr which then makes you sound ILLITERATE!!

  • @amkali24 The fact that I have a southern dialect (my accent is American) makes me sound southern, not illiterate. The fact that you assume that because I speak with a drawl I must be illiterate makes it sound like you haven't been anywhere else. Otherwise you would have realized that there are many people all over the country that are educated, but still speak differently than you. I find it offensive that, as a southerner I am typecast as a dumb redneck that hates on the north... cont.

  • @amkali24 cont. and anyone else different than us. That makes the irony of your insults almost funny.

We have a thriving tourist economy, built on people that LIKE experiencing our culture, atmosphere, and hearing the way we speak.

And, by the way, we may be behind in a lot of things, but one thing we are still taught is manners.

  • @jnifr STFU..no one was even talking to you. go chew on some hay..'do whhhat now?" Lmao

  • @HappinessGuano It is App-a-lay-chain. LAY, NOT LATCH, the Appalachian mountains go from Maine to Alabama, and the proper way to say it is LAY, not twang LATCH, that is why on TV they even say LAY, get it right, LATCH makes you sound uneducated and like you have not been anywhere else but the South. Asheville might be cool, but the locals SURE DON'T KNOW HOW TO TALK PROPER ENGLISH AT ALL, sound totally illiterate

  • @HappinessGuano They look like humans, waddle like ducks, but sure do talk like Aliens, hyuck hyuck, yyeee hawawaaa, let me guess, you say tomarra instead of tomorrow? OR when you want a pen, you say PIN; still think "latch" is the proper way to say it?? NO, it is the illiterate southern way to say it. App-a-LAY!!!! Most people know it is LAY! C'mon, the south is behind on everything, even the proper way to say words.

  • @amkali24 An accent does not identify anyone's literary level any more than it does their skin color. You do not know if I am black, white, or any variation between, and I find it immensely insulting that you would base your judgement of my IQ level upon how I speak. I would certainly hate to see how you would react to a foreigner. I suggest you educate yourself on modern times and culture before you declare yourself the ultimate authority on accents.

  • people need to stop moving here. seriously.

  • @DogmeatFilms Too many people now? I'm from Los Angeles. I want to go to go there for a while. Is it a trend to move there, now? I was just on craigslist and rent is dirt cheap! That makes me happy. I don't have a job as yet but have savings and want to learn a technicians trade. Like TV/radio/camera repair. I'm a Navy veteran and soon to be college grad. Are you looking for a roommate? haha. I want to live near downtown. When I get my technicians cert or learn enough I want to go to NY.

  • Wowww... Is it me, or Asheville is startin to get famous? First, Good Morning America and now da President Barack Obama and da First Lady comes for a weekend visit! I mean, whats next???

  • @Eazygame888 DID you FORGET, stupid Tiger Woods and his 1,000's of stupid golfers and developers. They are RUINING THE LAND HERE, and the stupid southern locals, when the elderly in their family dies, they sell the LAND, like one day they will get it back. YOU LOCAL DUMMIES< STOP SELLING YOUR LAND TO DEVELOPERS, I mean, I know your ancestors killed off Cherokee for it, but, still give it back to Cherokee instead of Tiger Woods followers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @amkali24 You say " They are RUINING THE LAND HERE." If all you want to do is complain about the south and southerners,WHY are you still here? You know, the longer you stay down here, the more you start to sound like us. Beware, the dialect is "catching."

  • Asheville has Big rats

  • woo hoo go asheville! i feel cool cuz im a local :) haha. an ive been everywhere they've mentioned <prolly not spelled rite
