I met Tito Puente briefly in the 80's, he was a petite gentleman, that night in the Hiatt Ballroom on Maui, the band played, not even, 4 bars before the dance floor was filled with at least 500 couples... what a night, what fidelity, I will never forget it....

A couple of things that I marvel at regarding the late great Tito Puente....1) every one of the many percussion instruments has a different part; no one clashes at all; 2) Tito Puente is a prime example of living your life to the fullest and loving what you do!!!!!!!

I thank God that I got to meet Mr Puente many years ago in Birmingham, England, he was touring with Celia Cruz, another great who is sadly no longer with us, we talked about Machito and how future generations have to remember who were the pioneers and paved the way for countless others and the barriers they had to overcome, the music speaks for itself and that is why it will be around for ever. Viva El Rey!
