This is why one should A) read the quest you are doing atm, B) pay attention to the prompts that flash onto your screen and C) at least pick up books that are lying about! Some give you clues, some are spellbooks, some open new quests and some increase your skills -.-

also, lol, most people used to rpgs that play this game will read at least the quest npc journals for hints to the dungeons and stuff. Like the journal in that Golden Claw dungeon, that actually told you how to find the combination, and that you just completely skipped over.
