Think words like 'käsi, vanhus & vanhuus' with the different endings: How they're diffenrent from the dictionary form. Ä is the same as in English 'hat, dad (hät, dääd)'. ö is trickier, but 'trikiör' is ok for pronouncing that.

Now this hat trick... amazing. And more has come from the 'youngster'!

Well, I teach it, and folks learn it - 3 months, and they blab some, some even quite good.

But, yeah - there's work for the learner, lot's of rules! For the relief - not that many exceptions.

An American made a computer programme in the 80's already that creates all the declensions of the Finnish verbs - it works! It creates something theoretic which is not needed, but everything works correct. Only 'to be' is irregular (in present).
