Just thought I would point out in case you didn't know, I think a likely reason they would have been arrested is because replica guns are actually illegal in Victoria. They are a 'prohibited weapon' and having one is a serious offence.

One of my friends was playing with a fake gun in the street (the kind with the orange tips) and someone called the cops on him. When the police tried to arrest him, he go so scared that he ran away. I never said this kids was smart. When the police finally caught up with him, he was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and concealing a weapon. He is still doing community service.
