  • crazy how the weather almost mockingly returns to normal with lots of sunshine...

  • the morning commute should say the piss off commute

  • "Winds gusts could reach 150 MPH."

    You're mad as fuck...

  • I like how chill the voice sounds when it's saying 'over 100mph'

  • Instead of "E 104" they should have just put "You're fucked."

  • i would be scared and extremely nervous if this happened where i live

  • Hurricane Katrina - Scary

Lol on "A HURRICANE WARNING, A HURRICANE WARNING." XD

  • @BradBoZ1998 lol that caught my ears as well. I live in Phoenix Arizona and I remember a few years back when they did the repeating thing I once heard one summer an excessive heat warning an excessive heat warning and an excessive heat warning have been issued for your area. My reaction was: What?

  • Tonights forecast, new orleans is gonna get fucked by a cat 5 hurricane so u better leave

  • 150 MPH!! OH GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! If i was around I would piss my pants and run

  • I lived through this............ I still live in New Orleans. I remember the night that I left like it was yesterday. On the night of aug 27 2005, the National Hurricane Center adjusted it's forecasts and the local TV stations started saying that the eye would roll right over New Orleans. At that point, my aunt decided to leave immediately and my mom did as well. If my mom & I hadn't convinced my dad to come along I don't know if he'd be alive today...... Looking back @ what is here on the inte

  • 150 MPH?!?!?

    YOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    I'd be pissed!

  • lol "morning commute." morning commute my a**! More like "morning, get the hell out!"

  • Comment removed

  • "A hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado watch, and a flash flood watch has been issued for the area." Wow, just, wow

  • "morning commute"

    really weather channel?

  • i would get out of there and SCREAM LIKE HELL

  • screw that "winds could reach over 150 mph" I'd be heading the heck outta there.

  • @Defaultname02 Me too.

  • "a hurr-i-cane warning, a hurr-i-cane warning, a tor-na-do watch and a flash flood watch have been issued for our area by the national weather service"

  • "morning commute" lol yeah right

  • He said Hurricane warning twice at 0:27WTF

  • @millionairenextdoor It would be more weird if he said it 4 times. o_o

  • I love how they make him sound so casual "2 hurricane warnings, a tornado warning, and a flood warning, with winds gusting to 150mph" lololol

  • OMG sustanied at 106 MPH

  • i guess the new orleans saints winning superbowl 2010 is a real inspiration

  • Sounds so strange, 1:56

  • "Morning Commute - 7AM"

    Should be more like

"Morning everyone getting the hell out of there - 7AM"

  • I think the highest winds I've ever been in my house for, were 100 mph from a really large "L" type storm that pretty much outlined the North Oklahoma panhandle border, and the Western Texas panhandle border, the funny thing was, it was strongest where I lived at the time and I thought there was a tornado right above us. It was crazy, it felt like a hurricane..

  • If I heard the narrator say that 150 mph winds are expected in my area, I probably would have crapped myself right there!

    =O

  • They didn't expect the winds to drop to strong cat 3 winds near landfall... Anyways hurricanes got it all... Tornados wind flooding riding them out is definatly an experience "we have hurricane parties sometimes :D"

  • Dang this brings back memories (northshore of the lake here)

  • Aside from the two hurricane warnings (lol), my personal favorite part of this is how the wording "Direct strike of potentially catastrophic.." happens to scroll across right as the sat/rad transitions in. BTW, did you get my PM?

  • "Direct strike of potentially catastrophic and life threatening hurricane expected late tonight and early Monday..."

The guy's says "100+ and 150+ mph wind gusts" as if it's fine while I'm sitting here scared out of my mind. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want to see this on the local on the 8's one day.

  • good job dj hope we have an active season!

  • 1:26 Rain Squalls?

    That's a new term.

  • @Brock101011 Rain Squalls is not a new term...rain squalls are typically found in hurricanes and tropical storms...its a band of heavy rain and wind that lasts about 10-20 min possibly longer...then it calms down with little or no rain and light winds for a brief period only to pick right back up again...the closer you get to the main circulation of the hurricane the quiet period doesnt last and its constant rain and wind until the storm has passed.

  • @Dj0287 I knew what a squall was...

I never saw it on The Weather Channel though.

  • @Brock101011 ooh okay my fault...yeah during the '04 and '05 hurricane seasons we saw that a lot on TWC it was very active in this area those two years.

  • @Dj0287 Considering I live in New Jersey, I never saw that term.

  • @Dj0287 That's what happens when you live in New Jersey.

  • @Dj0287 Can you name all the storms that hit or affected your area?

  • "Morning Commute"? Ha!

  • man that radar sucks to look at :(

  • they make it seem not bad at all it justs sounds like a rainy day with wind. Boy is that wrong.

  • I think one Hurricane warning was for inland and the other for coastal sections.

  • @xeon54 Correct. An inland hurricane warning is issued in conjunction to a normal hurricane warning when you are a certain distance from the shore. It just means the rain will not be able to run-off as well and you will have increased flooding. The narrator didn't have a recording for "inland hurricane warning" so they just played it twice.

  • He read "Hurricane Warning" twice. o.0

  • .HURRICANE KATRINA...A MOST POWERFUL HURRICANE WITH UNPRECEDENTED

STRENGTH...RIVALING THE INTENSITY OF HURRICANE CAMILLE OF 1969.

MOST OF THE AREA WILL BE UNINHABITABLE FOR WEEKS...PERHAPS LONGER. AT

LEAST ONE HALF OF WELL CONSTRUCTED HOMES WILL HAVE ROOF AND WALL

FAILURE. ALL GABLED ROOFS WILL FAIL...LEAVING THOSE HOMES SEVERELY

    DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.

ONCE TROPICAL STORM AND HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ONSET...DO NOT VENTURE

    OUTSIDE!

    Actual Warning

  • thats alot of warnings

  • Hey boss I'm not coming into work today because...A hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado watch, and a flash flood watch have been issued by the national weather service for our area. Pack the bags, and kids, I'm out !

  • 6 am Winds East at 104 mph

  • What an ominous forecast. He says gusts over 150 m.p.h like no big deal.

  • lol he said hurricane warning twice(0:27)

  • After tuesday it's gonna be nice!

  • Holy s**t!! Those are REALLY strong winds! 104 mph...150 mph gusts...wow!

  • That storm is huge

  • This music get's me pumped.

  • I'll take "Things you don't want to see on your local radar" for $200.

  • Comment removed

  • 104!!!!!!!!!!

  • And THANK YOU so much for posting this. I watch it every now and then and it gives me goosebumps. I love the Gulf Coast!!

  • How ANYONE could live something like a block from the Gulf and see that forecast yet STAY in theri hotel like a handful of people did, will always escape me. There were, what, 8 people killed at that hotel near the Grand Biloxi when a barge smashed it. Does anyone recall that story? Were they unable to get transportation? So sad....

  • lol! a hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado watch, and a flash flood watch! lol

  • ha, "a hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado warning, a flood warning."

The week ahead! , winds of 150mph

  • Geez. I've had less warnings.

Just think seeing that: "Winds could occasionally gust to over 150 mph".

    *shivers*

  • Hi 85 with winds of 150 mph? Like I would give a damn about the temperature! O.O

  • That's crazy "A Hurricane Warning, a Hurricane Warning, a Tornado Watch and a Flash Food Watch are in effect for your area"... is that all?

  • @alpiazza A tornado watch automatically activates a Severe Thunderstorm Watch as well.

  • why is there a blank weather warning box at 0:25??

  • correction 0:37

  • I want to say it's because there was some extra space after the last warning that spilled over to an extra slide.

  • windy "at times"

    lol

  • Did the uploading process involve photobucket? I uploaded one of my Storm Alert videos to it and the same video shrinkage happens to me. Try uploading the file to youtbe directly from your computer.

  • "Windgusts could reach 150 miles per hour."

    "oh SHIT! RUN!"

  • a hurricane warning a hurricane warning... its safe to say when you hear the doom music on the forcast and get the double repeat or the hurricane warning, you need to freakin run !

  • 0:27-0:29,the narrator said Hurricane Warning for 2 times!

  • they're airing this song again now with Hurracane Ike.

  • ya i heard...whats the song called?

  • The song has no official name, but it is often called "Severe Weather". The song was composed by Steven Arnold.

  • I always heard it was called "Eye of the Storm".

  • it is I believe...I have the original unaltered version with out the TWC 4 not chime over it

  • XD @ the "Morning Commute" graphic. How hilariously imappropriate.

  • If I heard wind gusts can reach up to 150 mph in my area. I would literaly shit in my pants!

  • I heard this same music once during the Gustav landfall on the local forecast.

  • What's the music? I like it

  • EYe of the Storm- Stephen Arnold Music

  • Katrina's local weather forecasts were so long when I saw them...

  • ha a Hurricane warning a hurricane warning

gosh i would flip if i saw that on my local forecast

  • For some reason, I really liked the music that would play here whenever a hurricane was apporaching. They used a different tune for Gustav, but I liked this song much better.

  • 1:56 "Wind gusts could reach 150 miles per hour" Holy shit! Run!!!

  • Did anyone ever notice that no matter where you are in the US, the local on the 8s music will change to one specific for hurricane situations?

  • i was down there the day before katrina hit, the slipped a note under the door tellin us we had to be checked out by 9am. i was like crap not here i love this place!

  • why is the video squashed :(

  • Hey, you're watching these videos, too! Weird, huh?

  • omg.. i was watching the weather channel and they did the storm alert music for Katrina

    !

  • lol for tonight he should have said.

"for tonight rain and definite thunder. for tomorrow

total destruction and tornadoes and fire and death."

  • Thank you for posting this! If you can, please post the Hurricane Gustav local forecast!

  • goodbye katrina, hello gustav

  • Piss on Gustav. He didn't do a fraction of what Katrina did. Now Hanna on the other hand...well...we'll see....

  • Hannah's not anything to worry about, now.

Ike, though. THAT might be something to worry about.

  • ... I saw that Hannah could reach Washington D.C. My dad says, "Wash it out!"

  • omg @ 1:56 that scared the crap out of me "wind gusts could reach over 150 mph"

  • lol Between 0:27 and 0:29 It Sounds Like The Narrator's Rapping. He Says "A Hurricane Warning; A Hurricane Warning" lol XD Nice Video.

  • lol a hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado watch, and a flash flood watch...

Might as well say, Your fucked if you aren't gone by now.

  • Nice, yea... you be in big trouble

  • They played this music where I live (Ohio) during the approach and strike of Katrina, but I have never heard it on our local weather since.

  • Are they playing the same musicnow on the Local on the 8s? Or just in Brownsville?

  • SHIT! 155 MPH Gusts! That's your q to Gtfo.

  • Tropical Storm and soon-to-be Hurricane Dolly could strike near Houston, TX. I just heard a two second clip of the Storm Alert Music on The Weather Channel about 2 minutes ago! They might play it on the local on the 8's soon!

  • Not Houston...South Texas near Brownsville around the Texas/Mexico border. I heard the music also.

  • I would be scared to death if I lived in the Gulf Coast if a Catagory 5 storm hit. Especially at night.

  • Actually the worst part of this storm hit during the morning while it was daylight.

  • You said you lost power at ~3 AM, didn't you?

  • No it was around 4:30 AM.

  • You wouldn't have to be scared to death, you'd be evacuated. And if you didn't evacuate, if it's a cat 5 and you take a direct hit, you'd probably die. Simple as that.

  • Something about that music still gives me chills.....its the "youre about to get your %$# kicked" music....

  • Am I the only one whose having this video shrink?

  • No!! it aggravates the hell outta me...You know how to fix it??

  • Do you know the title of this song?

  • It is part of the Weather Channel's music package from Stephen Arnold Music

  • A hurricane warning

    A hurricane warning.

    Lol.

    Love the music. :]

  • sorry 4 all the poor people who lost their live sin this storm hurrican cane katrina, rest in peace, and sorry to who also lost their most precious homes and pets

  • man hurricanes r the BIG storms!!!CARNAGE RULES!!!

  • Wow, I do love this music... however I hope they don't have to play it this year, if you know what I mean XD Good on you for putting this up ^_^

  • Dj0287.....

This is my favorite of your 5 hurricane Katrina local forecast clips.

I can't get enough of that awesome and catchy storm alert music..... I've been listening to it 5 day straight and continuing.....

    Thanks Dj0287!

  • i fell asleep to that song

  • This video and song are awesome! I love how the announcer says, "A hurricane warning" twice in a row.

  • Oh yeah did i forget, today your house'll be destroyed by 104mph winds

    ENJOY!

    LOL

  • what are rain squals?

  • Bands on rain.

  • Bands of heavy rain with gusty winds in the outer spiral bands of a hurricane, that usually occur before the widespread rain and constant wind with the main part of the hurricane.

  • 2 hurricane warnings?

  • Inland and coastal.

  • Yeah, this doesn't make sense to me either. An inland hurricane warning should be issued inland, and a good ol' hurricane warning should b issued along the coast. I did however think that the announcer saying this twice in a row was hilarious!

  • Actually, it does make sense that 2 hurricane warnings were issued, since not all of Gulfport (or at least viewers who can see this same forecast) is not on the coast. An inland hurricane warning should be issued more than a mile or two from shore, where surge won't be as much of an issue.

  • lol: for today, wind gust could reach 150 miles an hour. (in a normal voice like it's no big deal)

  • Well, it seems you were favorited by the National Weather Service.

  • This same song played on every local on the 8's during Hurricane Katrina. What was the reason for that, does anybody know? Wow, when I hear this, it reminds me of that terrible time. So sad a time.

  • I think it was because TWC was in Storm Alert Mode at the time.

  • Yes.

  • every time there is a hurricane that is a threat to coastal or inland areas that song is played. I don;t have dish, but when a hurricane is coming, my local forecast stops and it does the nationwide thing like a dish does

  • To AudiR10Guy:

Yeah, I expect the music to be more scary; enough to make you want to evactuate from a hurricane. This music sounds too "newsroom-like."

And for your local forecast, maybe it stopped because the people who did it either knew many people wouldn't see it because they fled or they fled the place themselves.

  • To rswan5:

I can understand that. I actually did evacuate form Rita, it was no joke.We were leaving Miami, going up I-95 had took quite a few hours. We ran in and out of traffic, even in Jacksonville

  • Such a casual computer voice. lol

"Winds could gust over 150 mph."

    "Have a nice day"

  • a hurricane warning

    a hurricane warning

    a tornado watch

and a flash flood watch have been issued by the national weather service. wow bad weather...

  • 1:26 wind forecast 104mph... OMG!

  • Well, it'll only be 80 degrees, so it's still a good day for a jog :D

  • wow

  • Thats All incorrect that the Headend ID number you talking about (I.E. 24423) this is the location in witch the TV cables go in and out of the IntelliStar Begin plus this is the location of the STAR unit its self!.

  • The IntelliStar gets its data by Satellite!.

  • Nice song

  • The NWS enters codes. You will see on the bottom of your screen a Local Forecast ID#2222 etc. Someone at the NWS types in a message and the Intellistar interprets it into text. For instance code 33 says Hurricane Warning 22 says Tornado watch etc. Another person will enter the data into a PowerPoint presentation type setting and will update it.

  • 150 MPH!!!!!!!(OK..........)

  • "Wind gusts could reach over 150 mph" damn.

  • A real person wasen't doing anything, a computer was spitting out those temp. forecasts. The NWS just sends the data and the program, Intellistar(Weather Channels data program) just spits that out.

  • Its funny how they issue high temperature forecasts for that day. Like anyone would care! "The wind will be blowin' at 150mph, but at least it will be 85 today." lol

  • Fantastic catch! A TWC local forecast during a historical weather event!

  • the morning commute should just show hulk hogan leg dropping some body to add to the effect!

  • The Weather Channel should go back to this music during storm alerts, its very dramatic!

  • ha ha! morning commute! that's hilarious. yeah, I'm going to work in that...

  • I love that music! That dramatic local forecast tune appears whenever a hurricane is about to make landfall in the U.S. It doesn't matter where you live, that music will be on if something is about to make landfall.

  • Man, that is painful to watch, knowing what was about to happen to all those poor souls living there...

  • Lol it says it so non chalantly , windy at times reaching over 100 mph, I'd be pissin my pants

  • Thats because its a computer and is just saying whatever they type into it and the voice spits it out. They aren't going to make it scream or anything like that it is made to emulate a normal human voice.
