@BradBoZ1998 lol that caught my ears as well. I live in Phoenix Arizona and I remember a few years back when they did the repeating thing I once heard one summer an excessive heat warning an excessive heat warning and an excessive heat warning have been issued for your area. My reaction was: What?
I lived through this............ I still live in New Orleans. I remember the night that I left like it was yesterday. On the night of aug 27 2005, the National Hurricane Center adjusted it's forecasts and the local TV stations started saying that the eye would roll right over New Orleans. At that point, my aunt decided to leave immediately and my mom did as well. If my mom & I hadn't convinced my dad to come along I don't know if he'd be alive today...... Looking back @ what is here on the inte
I got chills watching this. i was nowhere near katrina when this happened, but just seeing those 4 watches at once and that radar image...
it takes some serious balls to stand up to a massive hurricane even when you see jim cantore respond to the question of "what should people do if they're in the path of this storm" with "pray to god." kudos.
"a hurr-i-cane warning, a hurr-i-cane warning, a tor-na-do watch and a flash flood watch have been issued for our area by the national weather service"
I think the highest winds I've ever been in my house for, were 100 mph from a really large "L" type storm that pretty much outlined the North Oklahoma panhandle border, and the Western Texas panhandle border, the funny thing was, it was strongest where I lived at the time and I thought there was a tornado right above us. It was crazy, it felt like a hurricane..
They didn't expect the winds to drop to strong cat 3 winds near landfall... Anyways hurricanes got it all... Tornados wind flooding riding them out is definatly an experience "we have hurricane parties sometimes :D"
Aside from the two hurricane warnings (lol), my personal favorite part of this is how the wording "Direct strike of potentially catastrophic.." happens to scroll across right as the sat/rad transitions in. BTW, did you get my PM?
"Direct strike of potentially catastrophic and life threatening hurricane expected late tonight and early Monday..."
The guy's says "100+ and 150+ mph wind gusts" as if it's fine while I'm sitting here scared out of my mind. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want to see this on the local on the 8's one day.
@Brock101011 Rain Squalls is not a new term...rain squalls are typically found in hurricanes and tropical storms...its a band of heavy rain and wind that lasts about 10-20 min possibly longer...then it calms down with little or no rain and light winds for a brief period only to pick right back up again...the closer you get to the main circulation of the hurricane the quiet period doesnt last and its constant rain and wind until the storm has passed.
@Brock101011 ooh okay my fault...yeah during the '04 and '05 hurricane seasons we saw that a lot on TWC it was very active in this area those two years.
@xeon54 Correct. An inland hurricane warning is issued in conjunction to a normal hurricane warning when you are a certain distance from the shore. It just means the rain will not be able to run-off as well and you will have increased flooding. The narrator didn't have a recording for "inland hurricane warning" so they just played it twice.
Hey boss I'm not coming into work today because...A hurricane warning, a hurricane warning, a tornado watch, and a flash flood watch have been issued by the national weather service for our area. Pack the bags, and kids, I'm out !
How ANYONE could live something like a block from the Gulf and see that forecast yet STAY in theri hotel like a handful of people did, will always escape me. There were, what, 8 people killed at that hotel near the Grand Biloxi when a barge smashed it. Does anyone recall that story? Were they unable to get transportation? So sad....
Did the uploading process involve photobucket? I uploaded one of my Storm Alert videos to it and the same video shrinkage happens to me. Try uploading the file to youtbe directly from your computer.
a hurricane warning a hurricane warning... its safe to say when you hear the doom music on the forcast and get the double repeat or the hurricane warning, you need to freakin run !

You wouldn't have to be scared to death, you'd be evacuated. And if you didn't evacuate, if it's a cat 5 and you take a direct hit, you'd probably die. Simple as that.

Yeah, I expect the music to be more scary; enough to make you want to evactuate from a hurricane. This music sounds too "newsroom-like."
And for your local forecast, maybe it stopped because the people who did it either knew many people wouldn't see it because they fled or they fled the place themselves.
I can understand that. I actually did evacuate form Rita, it was no joke.We were leaving Miami, going up I-95 had took quite a few hours. We ran in and out of traffic, even in Jacksonville
Thats All incorrect that the Headend ID number you talking about (I.E. 24423) this is the location in witch the TV cables go in and out of the IntelliStar Begin plus this is the location of the STAR unit its self!.
The NWS enters codes. You will see on the bottom of your screen a Local Forecast ID#2222 etc. Someone at the NWS types in a message and the Intellistar interprets it into text. For instance code 33 says Hurricane Warning 22 says Tornado watch etc. Another person will enter the data into a PowerPoint presentation type setting and will update it.
A real person wasen't doing anything, a computer was spitting out those temp. forecasts. The NWS just sends the data and the program, Intellistar(Weather Channels data program) just spits that out.
Its funny how they issue high temperature forecasts for that day. Like anyone would care! "The wind will be blowin' at 150mph, but at least it will be 85 today." lol
I love that music! That dramatic local forecast tune appears whenever a hurricane is about to make landfall in the U.S. It doesn't matter where you live, that music will be on if something is about to make landfall.
Thats because its a computer and is just saying whatever they type into it and the voice spits it out. They aren't going to make it scream or anything like that it is made to emulate a normal human voice.
crazy how the weather almost mockingly returns to normal with lots of sunshine...

"Wind gusts could reach over 150 mph" damn.

Man, that is painful to watch, knowing what was about to happen to all those poor souls living there...

Thats because its a computer and is just saying whatever they type into it and the voice spits it out. They aren't going to make it scream or anything like that it is made to emulate a normal human voice.
