  • What kinda of a battery are you running in ur Tahoe ?

  • @psementalist 5 kinetik hc2000

  • @jonmanch3st3r Thankyou I was looking at a Optoma Yellow top at first then I seen that one I think that may be better for my system ..Again thankyou

  • batteries shouldnt be sitting below 12.7....or else you have sulfation going on in your batteries.

  • @jcplaya3 that was probably his resting voltage

  • @SubZeroSkyLine Yea exactly, Call Kinetik and ask them... they will explain it all to you

  • very good videos!Good job!

  • so just a little piece of advice.always clean and prep your surfaces when dealing with electrical connections. the difference is like night and day! no joke.

  • just bolting them up like you did without cleaning and preping surface first makes the upgrades you just did, pointless!! because although the wire is now big enough to allow for flow of current, connections are crap so it dosent matter how large the wire is, because the rusty surface is causing you to have a poor connection between terminal rings and that brand new expensive wire!

  • i know this is an old fuckin video and it prob dont matter now, but with them grounds going to the engine block and the chasis, yes, upgrading the guage of your wire is key! however.... making sure that the surface your attaching to is clean!! thats just as important. you need to wire wheel all those locations so nothing but, raw, bare, silver steel is showing, no rust! then use a dielectric grease to insure your connections are solid and dont corrode.

  • Hey man, where did you get your positive battery terminals?? Also howd the kinetik batts work for the primary starting batteries? would you recommend them? Thinkin about goin with the HC1800

  • @DMANSpL i love the kinetiks...they worked for about 2 years as a starting battery then lost the power to start i now have a regular battery under the hood with 4 kinetiks in the back...the battery terminals i got at darvex

  • whats the voltage on the system ? and how did you mannage to obtain that voltage?

  • nice system do you have a high charging alternator for both your batteries or is it the stock alternator ?

  • @davidromero19 thanx man at this time i had a 250 ampl alt on the truck,i later upgraded to a 300 amp alt..and now im in the process of getting 2 alts hooked up into the truck...my opinion is get a high amp alt before you buy batteries

  • I have cadence 1/0 awg wire mine is a lil thicker than 2 gauge. I compared it with rockford 2g side by side. its more like 1 guage. q power is more like 4 gauge my bro has it in his car

  • hey where do you get your ZERO guage from? i buy cadence wire from ebay and its more like 2 gauge :-(

  • @muscleammo i got mine off ebay as well but i have q power wire

  • @jonmanch3st3r and its true zero gauge? thanks brotha

  • @jonmanch3st3r hey do you think a single Kinetik HC1400 under the hood and nothing else ( no big 3 ) with a stock alternator could push a 1000 watt RMS amplifier ? please answer need help !

  • @muscleammo get knukonceptz there really cheap and u can also buy from ebay or look them up on google but there real zero guage and real cheap

  • You sound like the guy off of foot loose, the new movie.

  • @mikeytingstrom never seen it but he must be from boston like me

  • Hey Boss!! I have to build my cables for my car audio system!

  • @derdernixcheckt go for it man its not hard at all

  • Do you have a high amp alternator?

  • @MillerFootball yes i have a 300 amp alternator, without it i get voltage drop and cant play the stereo even with 5 batterys

  • where did you get all your supplies?

  • @ualreadyknw69 all over really..but the wire from ebay and ring terminals from darvex.

  • Hey man wat is your accent?

  • @Taylordeanhall im from boston

  • @jonmanch3st3r

I just did the big 3 with my car but didnt do the ground to the engine block, i replaced the alternator to battery, and battery to frame. my car wont start.. what's wrong?

  • @ninjafisheez over the internet i really cant help but it sounds to me like you have a bad ground...when you turn the key does the lights go on and then just doesnt turn over?

  • @jonmanch3st3r

No, nothing happens there's like a little click but nothing. sometimes the lights inside showing the mileage doesnt even work.

  • @ninjafisheez sounds like a bad connection to me man...if it was me i would go threw the wires you removed 1 at a time and put them back to stock until you find the problem then you can fix it??

  • @jonmanch3st3r I did that and it's the wire from the alternator to the battery.. i just brought it to the garage fuck itt. Thanks man!

  • How much sound do you have installed? I mean, for using two batteries it has to be a lot!

  • @imfercho when this video was made i had 2 amps but they were junk now i have 5 batterys on my 2 18s...it takes alot of power to keep then running steady for daily use

  • the guy sitting in the chair looks like a perv rapist. from 2:39 - 3:09

  • how does the kinetic work under the hood for u I was thinking of getting one but was told they are not meant to put under the hood for starting and running the car but better in the trunk to run the system by itself

  • @tmorales509 it works great under the hood starts the truck no problem at all had it there for 2 years now with no problems

  • thats whats up thats how we do in boston

  • @RaMpAgExMoDz it has come a long way since this video, thanx for commenting man

  • @RaMpAgExMoDz not to sound like an ass butt your knowledge about what the extra size on the cable does seems minimal. no matter how many 0 awg wires you add you will mantain that same 14.9 to 15 volts. what the heavier wire does for you is raises your overall amp load allowing your amp to let that power flow smoother. with small 8 or 4 awg cable its like trying to put a fire hiedrent through a straw. with the 0 awg its like upgrading to a fire hoes thus giving you more amperage and free flow.

  • @loopinator1 lol wtf r u talkin about im nt the video uploader. not to sound like an ass but ur knowledge is very low

  • @loopinator1 Not to sound like an ass, but the knowledge you have on electrical systems is minimal. As you increase current, the internal resistance of the battery will start affecting the output voltage of the system. By increasing the wire gauge, you decrease the series resistance of the circuit (Rbatt + Rwire + Ramp). When this occurs, it takes less current through the system in order to make the same wattage at the amp. Less current = Less drop over Rbatt = more voltage to the system.

  • 14.9 on a cold start what does it drop down to as your engine warms up??

  • how many altanators do you got ?

  • @69yunggunna 1 300 amp alt and its doing the job great for now...i will need more in the future if i stick with the build tho

  • Alright cool thanks... I got a optima yellow top and I was thinking about putting a kinetik hc 800 in my trunk...do you think the two would compete with eachother??

  • @lincolnpower58 i kno that kinetik's are dry cell batterys im not sure about optima but i kno that you cant run dry and wet cell together or it fucks shit up...as long as they are the same it doesnt matter the size

  • Are you using battery isolators or anything or is it just direct connected?

  • @lincolnpower58 all my batteries are 12 volt so i have them all linked, had it like this for 2 years and it works good

  • boring

  • @TheCottonTop its not boring to someone who has no idea how to do the big 3

  • lol at the pot smoking teenagers

  • when you dont have a vice. use painters tape! lol great video.

  • @dill30669 lol gotta make due when all the money goes into the stereo...thanx man

  • looks like a nuclear power plant lol

  • Hey man where did you get your battery terminals?

  • @TheMclovinKid darvex onlin store

  • @jonmanch3st3r alright thanks. I just ordered some haha.

  • 0 awg powering 20000 watts.. My mate is laughing at my 4 awg powering 1000 watts... You should use like 7 0awg cables to get the same rate of cable thickness - watts of power :l

I've heard 3000 watts powering 2 rockford t2 15 inch... I can't even imagine how loud your system must be

  • @ixyzyxi well i didnt have 20,000 watts powering it that was my goal,im still in the process of trying to get there by the end of this summer ill have 10,000 rms watts

  • I want that shirt, Because people make fun of my car.

  • @gibsonlespaul2 ebay

  • Really Dont Like Jockers SMH.

  • @guillent Hes not gay he has a girl

  • hehehehehe.. gay....

  • Where you clocked in while you did that? :D dont tell my you did all that in less than 30 minutes?

  • @MoreLikeCappuccino i was working when i made this vid....but it deff didnt only take 30 mins to get sone maybe 2 hours time to run it

  • nice job nut you should have bough black zero gauge for the ground cables...

  • @BigTwoSevenKills rockford sells ones like that.

  • more seniors are smoking more pot than cigs ? lol really

  • @420basshead420 lol,that guy is a funny bastard...i miss that job

  • I love ur Tahoe bro and ur videos!

Do u know whats the fair price for 99 2door tahoe 4wd in good condition?

  • @theGSi16valve thanx man,it has come a long way since this video.....these trucks hold there value so it kinda sux buying them youll be spending around 4 to 5grand on a clean truck i paid 5k for mine 2 years ago

  • @jonmanch3st3r

Damn its a lot of money for a car that old, but idk what got into me, one day I just saw that car and was like thats first thing im buying when I move to U.S....

How are they built? I mean engine, electric, tranny and stuff like that? My theory is, if it was bad it wouldnt cost 5k, am I right?

Sorry for stupid questions but I wanna know as much as I can before I buy it next year

  • @theGSi16valve they are built verry strong,as time goes on little things go as they do in any car but for the most part my truck is great...no big problems just routine maintainence

  • @BigTwoSevenKills i got mine from darvex dot com,and thewire is q power from ebay

  • imagine if ur boss came in while u were doin that lol

  • @bassline123456789 lol good thing i dont work there any more,im a mechanic at a tire shop now and they allow me to work on the truck so its great

  • @jonmanch3st3r o ic, goin thru ur videos i remembered u had moved from people breakin into ur truck, ive watched ur videos off n on but always forgot to sub

  • I had that same head unit.

  • i mean can one of those batetry power a car and a 3000w system ?

  • @iluvdiehard no 3000 true watts is a ton of power, you need bigger alternators and a few batterys,im running 3500 at this point and i have a 300 amp alt and 5 batterys

  • @jonmanch3st3r thanks for tyhe reply and thanks for the info :)

  • do you just use the 1 battery to power it all ?

  • Aye where did you buy your conecters from, and what size are they?

  • @KoolIce360 darvex dot com theyre 0 gauge

  • @jonmanch3st3r Kool thankyou very much!!!

  • You did a great job with the grounds. I still would have kept the grounds that you had on the chassie. It would be a good idea to label the grounds with some black electrical tape for easy viewing purposes. I bet you notice alot lower bass now that you have done this. Great video!

  • lol @ 4:08 "Actually no I lied."

  • q power is cheap deres practically no copper in dat best wire for power is monster or kicker.

  • what size roll of wire is that

  • @VModselectronics that would be a 100foot roll from ebay called q power

  • what kind of battrey is that

  • @talismenF22 kinetik, you can find them on ebay in all diff sizes for any car or truck

  • 5:20 Yea Gold Fish Pizza Baby!

  • Comment removed

  • my self i would have used 00 gage wire two

  • I am assuming you are upgrading your alternator as well? You wont see an increase in voltage, you dont want an increase in voltage, your alternator and battery(s) regulate this. However if you increase your amperage you can increase wattage, basic OHMs Law!!! Nice soldering by the way, I do the same!

  • @david69leonard this video is from awhile ago i didnt kno 2 much and was just getting into the car audio game,if you get bored check my new vids out and let me kno if you approve

  • Yes you should upgrade you alternator as from what i can see since you have such a setup to pute less stress on the equpment and the batterys and so on . its nice to see someone with brains .

  • if only you could run 0gauge wire to everything in the car. im kinda scared to do mine. dont wanna fuck shit up. you know

  • @staytruestayfit na man its easy, just practice to make perfect solder joints and do your research to find out which wires to replace

  • you have to solder it dumbass with silversolder and flux.

  • @vorkev1 are you talking to me?not sure if your bling but it was soldered...and there is no special solder you MUST use to get the job done

  • You should use flux or the solder will not have as good of a grip and as tight of a grip also you should use silver solder as it is less corosive and is more conductive when haveing such good equipent and spending thmoney on a good system you should use the best you can as it is the best thing to do to preserve you equipment. As the saying goes your equipment is only as good as the weekest part. meening if you have one part that is lesser then that is the part that will take the most load.

  • where did you get that shirt????

  • this guy is awesome just doing his own thing at work epic winning

  • Hi , i post this comment with the hope that you will find a answer for my problem .. i have a Seat Cordoba 2003 with a stock cd-player . i have 8 speakers , and I whant to mount a subwoofer and a amplif. my car cd-player is seat alana grundig gh 91 -00 model and i can't fid a place where i can insert the RCA cable from amplif to cd-player .. is there any options ? or i must change my cas in oder to install the subwoofer ? . Thank you :)

  • @Mallze there is a unit that im not sure what its called, but it wires into your rear speakers and then you plug the rca's into it and you can run your stock unit still...do some research on here and google im sure youll find it

  • @jonmanch3st3r its called a line output converter

  • @jonmanch3st3r its called a line output converter

  • were the hell do you work!? lol id love to work on my system and be on the clock!

  • @27staytrue i used to work at a power plant, but my boss fucked me...said i could work on it at work and then denied it to a higher boss and i was fired.....gotta love it

  • At 6:12 That flat cable is the ground correct, and did you remove that or just add the 1/0 gauge ground on top of that in the same spot?

    Thanks

  • @BassHead143 i romoved it and then put 0 gauge in its place

  • since you upgraded all your wires and are going "official" with it. Why not just get black (or any different color) for your gnd? I mean, it really doesnt matter. But u got a lot of red going everywhere. It would make for a cleaner look.

  • now i want goldfish..

  • Dont forget to scrape the paint of the car bro.

  • where did you buy all your wires and terminals i herd you say it some where but cant remember

  • @funyguy07 darvex dot com

  • Awsome shirt dude my old car was the shit I had neon all over the inside hooked up to flash to my music so did the underglow!

  • hey, did you leave the factory wire connected and just added the zero gauge wire on to that? and also what size fuse did you use?

  • @BassHead143 the factory wire was removed, verry simple...and the 0 gauge was added in place of it,i used a 300 amp fuse because thats the size alt im running,if you have a stock alt a 150 amp fuse will be fine

  • @jonmanch3st3r ok cool thanks man, also can you leave the stock 8 gauge wire on and just add the 1/0 gauge run to your batt. does it make a difference if you leave the stock wire on or off. i just thought that i would keep it on just to make sure i still have my factory fusing and stuff. let me know what i should do.

thanks for the reply, your a big help

  • Great build. Just a couple of tips. 1) You need to run a ground from the battery that is starting your truck to both the chassis and engine block. I realize you have done this. However you don't need to ground the batteries for your amps to the engine block, because your amps/caps are all grounded to the chassis only. 2) Never blow on a solder join. Let is cool as slowly as possible or the solder will crystallize and become brittle. Other than this your build is brilliant. It should sound great

  • A real SMD bad copy, ground its RED color to?...

  • @guilletnt thanx man, atleast i can afford an attempt at a real stereo...what do you have?

  • @jonmanch3st3r Yes you can afford a car stereo... but not a nice car... My sound system in a NICE 2007 BMW X5 4.4 SUV.... you will see my you tube video 2 hcca 12" in $900 spl box, 2 Rockford fosgate 400.4 rms, 2 brutus 2400.1 rms, 50 farat capacitor, 5 red top batteries, stingers 0/4/8g cables... of course I got money for buy a two colors cable RED & BLACK..... my another system it’s in my working cargo van 18" FI N3 BTL the new model

  • @guilletnt Not everyone can afford a bmw dude he has a nice tahoe which is better than alot of people. His system is way better than yours dude he has 20,000 watts and evidently your system isnt that badass cuz your voltage stays at 12.7.

  • @guilletnt straight up talking out of ur ass. Fi BTL N3 is for SPL burping only. Why buy capacitors? too poor to afford batteries? Dipshits like you should get off youtube and stop talking shit.

  • Comment removed

  • @guilletnt These tahoe's run forever, it has either a 305 or a 350 in it from the look of the engine..first off it'd stomp your crappy bmw, then on top of that it would cost HALF as much, if that, and still be more comfortable. oh and yeah, these engines in these trucks commonly run to 500,000 km's..so idiots like you can buy your expensive pieces of crap, and us intelligent people will drive something thats actually worth putting a system in

  • @jonmanch3st3r w/ cadence zrs c5 5000 rms, 400.4 Rockford fosgate,2 kinetik 2000 & 1 1800 in front plus stingers 0/4/8g cables RED & BLACK color of course.... I forgot mention the hertz MILLE components for front stage on my cars...

I will make a nice video and take pictures for the cargo van only for you soon....

    Thanks....

  • @jonmanch3st3r y do people have to always hate i like your shit man keep it up

  • @guilletnt so the color of the wire casing affects the ground. i didnt know they made special ground wire. are there some special properties in the black casing wire that helps the ground. get off smd and appreciate someone who has a better stereo than you.

  • u must hav a nice job to be able to do all that

wish i got paid to work on my system:(

  • what work is it, i am guessing power plant or somethinnn

  • @kammy192 you got it man, this was my old job loading trucks out of the power plant in my area

  • your work seems chill as hell lol

  • @masongalbraith at the time it was, then they ended up firing me for blocking a door with my subwoofer....it was bullshit but now i have a better job doing what i like which is working on cars

  • Bro where did you get your battery terminals been looking everywhere and cant find them I really like them hook me up man!

  • @audioinstaller2004 got em from darvex dot com

  • hey also make sure any connections you got on paint contact that you scrape that shit off so you get a great metal to metal contact.

  • were do you get te voltage meter? i been looking for one like that

  • @tansbadition ebay has it just search stinger voltage meter

  • all need 2 do get a mall an hit that it

  • what brand of power wire are you running in this video?

  • @darren509 i used q power off ebay and it works great i still run it to this day

  • @jonmanch3st3r where u get the 0 gauge terminals?

  • "high school school seniors are smokin pot"... "i think thats a guud thing" hahahahah

  • @armandthepimp101 lmao that guy was hilarious...you should have herd the shit that was said in that office with all the drives that came threw

  • You want all your grounds to be to the same spot on the frame to reduce the chance of different resistances. You don't want a ground loop.

  • LoL all that work and it didnt do anything LoL

  • @ArT2Oo0 your ignorance is bliss

  • Comment removed

  • @miniimoto95 never mind, you sounded british or aussy at the beginning

  • 5:21 Yeeaaah Goldfish Pizza Baby!

  • @DackIsBack hell yeah man i as livin off them things for a while

  • if you plan to have 20,000 watts, you probably better recalculate lots of things. you will need many batteries and lots and lots of heavy wire. by what i have seen thus far, i say you should always have some marshmallows tucked away in that vehicle because you'll probably have a nice warm fire to cuddle up to.

  • @schrankm im not sure how you think any of this would cause a fire in any sense....if anything it would cause voltage drop, but since this video alot of changes have been made and can be seen from newer vids

  • @jonmanch3st3r a bare unfused 1/0 wire laying on the engine or frame will sure cause voltage drop. it'll also cause a heat, smoke, and flame rise.

  • voltage may or may not rise depending on what voltage your alternator should be putting out.

  • @Shockern003 at this time i was hoping to get some rise but it feels better knowing its done right now

  • @jonmanch3st3r i doubt you get a rise in voltage at all. you may be able to complete the transfer more amps with the better wires but i doubt voltage will change. you could have say 14.9 volts using a 4/0 gauge and the same voltage on a 20 gauge wire. voltage means little or nothing without amperage. you probably even have 14.9 volts at your taillights.

  • hydraulic crimper > soldering

  • What brand of 0 gauge wire are you using? It looks real nice
