  • In order to get the achievement for beating the game on hardcore, it says, "You can't change the setting." in parenthesis. So I'm trying to beat the game on harcore with a guy I've already played with, but the game doesn't let you change the difficulty before you start the game because it's not a new player. So as soon as you take control of your guy on the Normandy I changed it to Hardcore. Will that effect the achievement in any way, because it says not to change the setting in game?

  • I feel dumb for asking but I have the xbox360 version but when I start I dont have all those upgrades...Am i missing something here?

  • Don't feel dumb.. He is playing it a second time through. If you finish the game, you can choose your old character to play it again.

Lvl 50 is the limit you can get the first run through the game. Lvl 60 is the maximum and can be achieved by a second run

  • Thanks for posting!

Replaying with my Lv. 38 soldier on hardcore but I don't know which speciality to choose

    shock trooper or commando?

  • Would say shock trooper here but that because I am very agressive with soldier, thus need all the def bonus from it since often closing in in live fire (when not suicidal) if you make optimum use of cover has soldier I would say commando

  • why did you shoot those big things, dont be mean. Those are my friends!

  • The Solider class can take a shitload of damage with the Shocktrooper specialization and it's a cool class. Even though I maxed out all the kills on all the weapons.

I started a Sentinel a few weeks back with Assault Rifle bonus talent, and it's a badass class with a mixture of Biotic and Tech. I got all the top upgrades for her too. With the Armor glitch I have the Colossus X Heavy with Combat and Medical upgrades. Although I do hate the power wheel glitch on the Xbox version tho.

  • Heh, yeah the Soldier class is virtually invincible with Shocktrooper spec. I've never tried a Sentinel myself. Sounds cool though.

  • How do you get the Shocktrooper Spec? and the Aussalt rifle talent when you're a sentinel?

  • You do the rogue VI side mission on Earth's moon givin to you at lvl 20.Once you complete it you can get a prestiege class which for a soldier is either shock trooper(defence) or Commando(offense). You Get assault rifle by simply getting the achievment of scoring 250 kills with the Assault Rifle.

  • Oh! Wicked! Thank-you very much! :D

  • No problem man :)

  • it 150 kill =) (same for all other weapon except pistol (which extend duration of markman, since everyone got pistol skill (except sentinel which get them through their sentinel skill))

  • so you started it again ?

  • Why not ? The game is worth that.

  • Indeed. I missed a lot of stuff the first time around and I'm not at max level yet. I haven't even reached level 50, heh. Also, there's additional scenarios unlocked for a second playthrough, and it's interesting trying out different dialog options, squad combinations, (and of course the higher difficulties, which is majorly fun).

  • Exactly. Do the game as much as you can. I am on my 7 walkthrough (I have four different characters) and I still find ways to discover new things. Just to tell how the game is depth and amazing. Can't believe the beautiful universe of Mass Effect is able to fit on one small disk (Ihave the 360 version).

  • That's awesome. I totally agree, ME is an extremely well-constructed, detailed game and re-playability value is really high. The ME universe is highly immersive. I also plan to try out different classes, once I've unlocked and completed the game on Insanity. That should be frantic, but fun.

  • I have an advise for you. If you are planning on making a new character, don't set the difficulty level on Insanity. Believe me, playing level 1-30 on Insanity is a pain in the ass.

  • Heh, is it a case of it takes 10 minutes to kill an enemy, or just more enemies. I must admit, I'm a masochist and I do like a challenge, but I prefer more enemies than taking forever to kill one.

  • Both actually : It takes more shots to finish an enemy off and more enemies fighting you. Also, enemies are replaced with more powerful ones. Example : A normal Geth is replaced by a Geth Prime on Insanity. Be aware also that an enemy with only a pistol can take down your shield quickly if you don't pay enough attention in the battle on that level of difficulty.

  • Yeah, I agree, it's important to keep tabs on exactly what's happening in battle very closely, to be aware of where all the enemies are, to anticipate their actions, and avoid their line of fire as much as possible, especially direct hits.

  • Here a good example. Watch this : Mass Effect - Wrex Family Armor (Insanity) :

    ca(DOT)youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=BD8k6x3HYXM

  • Heh, that looks fun. I've just done the Zhu's Hope mission, not sure if I'll have time to upload it tonight but that was manic, and immense fun. The Thorian Creepers took some damage.

  • Pay attention to those fucking annoying Thorian Creepers on Insanity. JUST ONE can kill you in 2 seconds. So bring a biotic in the fight and use singularity, throw, lift, stasis as much as possible. Don't allow them to touch you and your team.

  • Yeah, I can imagine how tough they'd be. I noticed even just on HC my team died in one hit (and I'm not low level). I can take a lot more punishment having really high health comparatively, and of course Immunity spammage, but I imagine it would be a far more strategic battle, using biotics/skills appropriately, especially if playing a more subtle class.

  • I may try a Vangard next. I must admit I do like the Soldier class, being more of a FPS gamer, but I'd like to experiment with biotics, and maybe that class would be a good transition for me, having a mixture of combat skills and biotics.

  • People complain about the loading times in the Elevators. What they don't understand, is that without those, the game would probably suck.

    Mass Effect FTW.

I have only done 1 playthrough with Soldier, what class do you think I should do next?

  • Adept is pretty fun. Especially if you unlocked shotgun or rifle asa bonus skills for other classes like the adept. Though adept is a bit tough to play as at first. You really gotta get to about level 30 before it becomes really fun.

  • I see, I shall try it now.

    Thanks :D

  • how do you unlock shotgun as bonus skill? :)

  • Bye killing 100 enemies. duh.

  • Actually "IDIOT" it is any guide one anysite. Plus the achievement for it clearly states kill 100 enemies with said weapon. I am sorry that you are too stupid nearly two years after the game came out to use your brain and figure it out "IDIOT".

  • Actually sorry its a 150 kills. Its been a few month since i played the game. But still before even playing the game I knew about the bonus skills.

  • you have to max it out
