I still think they should have given mario sound effects for actions like in the NES/SNES days, instead of saying WOOHOO and HAHA.

I love this game! Weirdly, it was my first Mario game, besides super mario land which I didn't own, only played. I like this much more than it's sequels. I hope Nintendo make another game like this.

I suppose you never heard of the legendary arcade game Donkey Kong then? It was the first appearance of Donkey Kong and the first appearance of Mario where he was referred to as such (I think, correct me if I'm wrong). So the two of them go way, way WAY back. The Donkey Kong as we know him now was essentially created in Rare's Donkey Kong Country. It took a long time before he became a standard Nintendo character.

I see that the mushrooms are two dimensional. In a game I like to either see sprites or pre-rendered graphics, not a common mix of both.
