What's wrong with riding a bike for fun? I understand that its nature says competitors or GTFO, but if you modify it a bit it's the bike you had as a kid. People look at the rider and then associate the stigma with the bicycle. I'm gonna convert a GToutpost to a SS for spontaneous riding but worry about speed. A fixie grants speed but I'd be concerned about my size (6'210) given my ride style (city,jump,fast, grass, hill,). I'll have to compromise but "You" make the decision easier.RIDE4FUN

@768kik it depends on many factors. How steep is the hill? How long is it? What is the bike's gear ratio? Does it have clipless or flat pedals? Who is sitting on the bike? I will go up a hill faster than some road bikers because they sit down going up in a low gear, but I have only one gear (46/16) so I have to mash to keep up the RPMs. Yes I can do that with the hills and bridges in my city. I would not try it in mountains.

You will find bikes, bike lanes and dedicated bike roads everywhere. Unlike you we use bikes as a serious means of transportation and not just as a toy. BTW I have a fixed Redline MTB that I use on and offroad. Try riding fixed if you like cycling. It's awesome. You are missing out if you don't and I could care less.
