  • Moby says that this song was about the Chicago House music scene. I always thought it was about drugs...

  • @SidIcarus Pretty sure it was about Chicago in general. He got the inspiration while in the Chicago music house.

  • so good. gwen is great. she can pull off anything!

  • :19-I kissed a girl-NOT! I seriously love this video and song. Moby and Gwen are a great combination!

  • love this fucking song

  • Gwen and Gaven have some GORGEOUS kids!!! They are a great couple :)

  • 231 people are gonna get dumped off and their asses kicked on the southside...

  • Gwen made this song great, the normal song is lacking.

  • @ChemblieandCheese Gwen's voice is like a freight train in this song. But, Moby can make some really hefty music...

  • @wildturkey1960 Yeah he can, but his solo version of this song is kinda boring. I like them both. But like you said, Gwen's voice is like a freight train.

  • @ChemblieandCheese Well, given the strength of Gwen's voice, comparing this to Moby's solo version of this song would make it seem kind of bland, no doubt.

Oops... Just had to go there...

  • Does anyone else find it entertaining that Stefani went on to become the pop princess that this video basically lampooned the shit out of?

  • What a party!

  • Ooo. . Yaa zoo. .

    Cool song & video.

  • I didn't know Moby was such a thug.

  • LOL glamour trash is so great..And the humor moby and gwen is just the right flavor for the vid.

  • It's a good song, but I want to punch Moby in the face.

  • @matthewboddy why?

  • @3:33 Is that a reference to Wacky Deli from Rocko's Modern Life? "10 Mins of Mayo"? Might not be but it made me wonder.

  • here we are now going to the west side

weapons in hand as we go for a ride

  • Heard this at the Hard Rock Casino yesterday and realized that it had been at least 10 years since I heard it. Time flies :(

  • I live on the southside! :-D

  • Love...Darkness... My Sidearm.

ha 12 years and that's still one of my favorite lines from a song

  • No one would've done a better job than gwen with this song.

  • this is the only song i like thats remotely by gwen stefani.

  • I have been trying to find out the name of this movie i saw when i was a kid. I know this song was used in it. I forgot wat it as about. but it took place in what i think was Africa. i remember this one scene well. these 2 white people in their 20s and one afrcan guy where roaming the desert then he puts a straw in the ground and sucks water. then the hide under a tree from a helicopter trying to kill them, then place some clothes on the ground to trick the helicopter thinking they were dead.

  • whats up with the jar of mayonnaise in the end?

  • @bloodytamponsucker possibly a Rocko's Modern Life Wacky Deli episode reference.

  • this song is already 12 years old, I feel old now!

  • @yomera26 ~~~ I feel so old now or more like after a reality check I'm told that I'm in process of fossilification ~~~ that is when no music present ~~~ however my immersion in good music warms up my veins and temporarily brings me back ~~~ I pray to God " please don't shut the power on me I hate to be a mummy ".

  • @MiGFourteen Go to Chicago. Ask for directions to "the eastside." Let me know how that works out for you.

  • @BRADAPALOOZA still, theres an east side of my keyboard for crist sakes

  • I honestly didn't think Gwen Stefani would sound good in this song, but, she sounds great in it.

  • SEEN MOBY BACK IN THE DAY IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES IN A FREE PARTY JUST OUTSIDE BRISTOL UK AND HE JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!! ONE WORD GENIUS!!!! BARTON HILL MASSIVE ROCK ON!!! KILL GAS!!! BRISTOL CITY SERVICE FIRM!!!

  • I love this tune, it makes me feel so relaxed.

  • sigh* memories

  • His thoughts @2:29.

This is so gross. Now I need Penicillin.

  • What I love about this music video is that it shows behind the scenes while the video is playing giving us insite of what its like while shooting.

  • @1981freaky Insight*

  • The eastside is largely Indiana's Chicagoland area.

And the southside would be the overall most dangerous part of town.

  • Remember when Much Music was the best thing to watch Saturday Mornings

  • the days of napster

  • I like this song because it reminds me the time I went with my friends with the car to a festival in Germany called "Southside" :D

  • this song makes me feel so free just fucking love it!!!!

  • this is a step back, compared to the "nongwen" original.

    sorry Moby

  • Gwen's look at 2:43 is fucking badass and sexy as hell

  • @BroPaterno1 looks like she fucks niggers

  • ....Ride at night, ride through heaven and hell.....!!!

  • What ever happened to music videos and MuchMusic !

  • eminem just doesn't suck, he sucks in the worst way imaginable

  • Damn, i havent heard this song since......... 2007 on my mix that my dad made for me off of another mix he got from a friend who was arrested by the FBI for downloading it.

    I miss those days.....

  • jeditight Moby was never mainstream. The closest he ever got to it was the Bourne Identity music he did, and even then that was more punk rock than mainstream, and it sounded awesome. Seriously man, look up Natural Blues or Wait for Me.

  • funny thing, this song is about Moby being in chicago. I'm sure he says "weapons in hand" when he goes to the west side cause that's the most dangerous part of chicago lol. even though there's no east side of chicago, cause you would just be in the lake.

  • @TheMadvillainy im pretty shure there is an east side to everything

  • @TheMadvillainy i pretty sure southside is more dangerous

  • @TheMadvillainy

haha yeah gwen supposed to be dressed like a chola if im not mistaken..she looks good tho , but she pretty much always looks good :)

  • @TheMadvillainy

and north side shows the rich guy with the iphone lol

  • @TheMadvillainy Actually, according to an interview in 2000 he said the song was about a group of friends taking a car ride through post-Apocalyptic New York City. Go look it up. However, in a Chicago Sun-Times Interview in April 2005, he said his visits of Chicago and his love for its House Music scene *INSPIRED* him to make the song.

The 'West Side, East Side, North Side, South Side' parts of the song represent the different sections of Manhattan.

  • @crapObear2323 It you read into the lyrics it makes much more sense that the song is about Chicago rather than New York ....

  • @WrigleyIvy21 Doesn't matter, it's New York. Moby said so in an interview a while back, the song was just inspired from the music scene of Chicago. But what the song is about is a bunch of young teens driving and partying in post-apocalyptic New York City.

  • @TheMadvillainy I thought the south side of Chicago was the most dangerous.

  • @TheMadvillainy actually there is an "East Chicago" It's in Indiana :)

  • @TheMadvillainy Pretty sure that the south side of Chicago is the most dangerous part of the city...

  • Moby was for lame girls who didn't understand dance music. He was always mainstream crap.

  • The guitar that starts at 1:02 just blows me away.

  • 1:03 I could understand replacing Moby for the scene but Gwen?

  • o wow es la mejor k eh escuchado...amo este video i lov gwen and i lov moby is a hott ellos arden welcome to cd de mexico

  • lovely smile at 3:08

  • never, never end a sentence with an explanation point, it means you need to remind the reader that you wrote something important, something worthy!

    bronx66

  • coulda sworn this was a single in like late 2000.....not 90s

  • Music is great.

    Video is shit.

  • looks like I found the TOOL shed.

  • Summer of 1998. What memories. :)

  • ah yes the 90s...when money wasn't the focal point when recording in the studio or having someone do it for you.

  • this music video is based off of my life

  • hmmm touche....now go get some friends other than being online all day trying to sound smart BOOM!!!!!! IN YOUR FACE!!! Count it!!!!!! (-,-)_,,|,, (this is me giving you the finger genius)

  • @SuperReded ...I'm over here, asshole. What's the matter, forgot (Or too scared) to reply to me after I put you in your place? LOL I love how me not trashing Gwen Stefani for working with Hip-Hop artists like the majority of you self-important losers constitutes me 'being smart' in my replies. How, well, STUPID of all of you.

'BOOM!!!!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!' indeed. And I don't make childish pictures with font, douche. Grow the fuck up and shut the fuck up.

    Now 'Count' that' again!!!!!!!!

  • @Entropy161 Its sad but funny that your still the only one getting all mad and worked up with just words........you def need friends bro...........

  • @SuperReded ...And it's even sadder that you not only took it upon yourself to reply to me at first when I wasn't even talking to you or knew you existed, but continue to reply to me. It's clear you and everyone else who took offense to my original comment saying that Stefani working with Hip-Hop artists over the years wasn't the end of the world are the ones who definitely need friends.

And don't bother replying, 'bro.' You're dismissed...

  • so much better than the original!!

  • wtf i thought this was 2001 2002 song lol

  • 01:35 = Fuck me!

  • @CellarDoor06 fuck you!
