@000jacksparrow000 I'm Italian, and I think that he's magnificent. The lyrics have nothing to do with the English ones. The Italian lyrics are about love disappontment...
@000jacksparrow000 I'm Italian. Well... I think this version is very D I S G U S T I N G. Lyrics are completely different. The song is too romantic, too sweet. Horrible!
The first time I heard this was on an album called "Rare" released in 1982. It had lots of good stuff like "Helden", Heroes in German, a live "Panic In Detroit", the B-side to "Knock On Wood", unreleased on "David Live" in 1974, "Crystal Japan" and it's B-side "Alabama Song" released only in Japan neither on an album, and Chuck Berry's "Round and Round" another B-side to "Drive-In Saturday" from "Aladdin Sane" released in 1973. Try and find it on vinyl... it's a great collection booster!
Haha, he is really good. :) I can sing to his songs pretty well. My voice fits better with lower pitches and so singing with male songs as opposed to female songs works better for me so singing to David's songs is easy. :D
enjoy... bad pronounciation, is not important, we live in a world that we can listen to great artist as Bowie.singing in .Italian, Deutch or English...just enjoy....
@000jacksparrow000 Well... actually... the lyrics are totally different :p but I have to say that the italian ones are not bad at all... it's just another song XD
the pronunciation... we understand everything, but the british accent is very strong... though charming...
no the inglese version is totally different. Its about an astronout.
I don't see how he could think they're right when "amore" is a good indicator of a love song and Space Oddity is about an astronaut trapped in space??? How could he NOT notice something was different? "Amore" is a pretty good giveaway...
@LadyBowie1119 "We finally get there and he's happy with it and so Bowie says to him as he's casually putting his jacket on, 'You must have had a bit of a problem translating the lyric - the astronaut up in space and that sort of thing' and the Italian bloke is frowning and saying, 'No, is no problem. What you just sing is love story.'.But Bowie said, ' Well, my story is about fucking astronauts!' But the man said, no, no, that's a-no good for Italy' and Bowie just laughed it off" - Gus Dudgeon
@aladdinsane9 What a great story regarding this rare version. Thank-you for sharing this gem that I never heard before. Is that a Gus Dudgeon recounting? It's so classic Bowie. What could he do at that point LOL. What a gift Bowie is to this planet!!
Hi, I'm Italian ( excuse for my terrible english), I just want to say that the way in which Bowie sings in italian is absolutly oustanding!! The pronunciation is nearly perfect, but even if it hadn't been so,that wouldn't have been so much important, because his own english accent in italian pronunciation makes the song even more fascinating (here in Italy we love to listen to english accent in italian lyrics, I don't know why,but so it is :):))
The italian lyrics were written by a famous italian lyricist named Mogol(he is very famous here,a great artist); they are pretty good if we read them as a text, but I think it had been a very idiot thing to not translating Space oddity literally...but at that time in Italy people used to make covers of famous english songs using "imaginative" translations....I know my english is almost unbearable, but I wish it could be understandable at least.

Being italian I can suggest to burn all existing records this horrible thing.
Italian is a very difficult language and Bowie is doing his best but it's not enough. Moreover lyrics are the usual shitty love nonsense.
Nothing can compare the original.

No ragazza sola, no no no
Stavolta sei in errore
cremadiyogurt 2 years ago
