  • please do more videos. Your journals are beautiful. I love the colors and the texture on your pages and would love to see how you do that. xo michelle

  • Gosh, You are motivating me to finally get started! I always was told that you had to glue the pages together? I tried it with some thinned out elmer's glue but the pages got too bumpy? Did you say that you put gesso between those three pages? Also, did you use acrylic paint over the gesso?

I also want to recycle junk mail and catalog covers for thicker uses for pages (tight budget here).

I can't wait to see more creative projects from you! Thanks!

    Thanks and keep crafting!

  • @antaria18 I do use gesso to glue my pages together in my altered book. I have found that if you use a glue to stick them together, they will buckle and warp. I do add a bit of gel medium to my gesso so that helps it to be really effective at this stage. Acrylic paint over the gesso? Are you talking about the gesso between the pages? If so, no I don't...just the gesso.

Thanks for your kind words. Comments like yours inspire me to do more videos.

  • This is great! I started an altered book based on your video ... I gessoed pages together (3 each time), but the pages are coming out wrinkled ..l how did you keep your pages so flat/non-wrinkled? Your art is beautiful!

  • @KarenPappert I've had a number of people ask about this so I am working on a video to show how I do it. But, to answer your question, I have found that it depends on your gesso. If your gesso is a very liquid or wet one (generally the cheap ones are like this) that is when you will have this problem. Solution? I add gel medium to my gesso when using it as a glue. Try it and I bet you'll like your results. Let me know.

  • Really nice!! I was wondering if you had to remove any pages to compensate for the extra thickness that comes with added textures and collage elements? thanks...KT

  • @kimberlilly1127 Thanks for the compliment! No, I haven't had to remove any pages due to the bulkiness that all of my "stuff" causes to my Art Journals. I actually like seeing them get full and thick with bits and pieces dangling from the edges...it gives my journals personality. lol

    Thanks again!

  • This is awesome! I love your journals! I did the same thing. I bought an old book at a thrift store & I've been using it for my journal but it's not nearly as creative & colorful as yours. I want it to be, though. So seeing yours makes me think of some new ideas. Thank you!!

  • Ok where is the next video??? Hate to rush ya, but I can hardly wait!!!!

  • @ldunparnell You're too kind. I had lost my video camera but I have found it and will try to post a new video over this weekend. Thanks for your sweet comment.

  • @cynnthea I do have a flickr and but I am way behind on uploading my journal pics. You have really inspired me to get on the ball and post some of my journal pages today!

I will post my flickr link in my profile here (it won't let me include it here.)

Thanks for the boost to my spirit this morning. I needed it more than you know.
