I find that people who go out of their way to say that they hate hammer throw or any throwing event are the kind of people who suck at anything more technical than football, basketball, soccer, baseball or hockey. Anyone can play those sports. It takes much more to succeed in these throwing events. I didn't compare, I contrasted. The sports you just listed are easy to pick up in a matter of months. Hammer takes many many years to master. I threw my first hammer as a freshman in high school. I'm 19 now and I still have stuff to work on. I'm only 188lbs and everyone I go up against is over 210. So I think I'm doing pretty well for myself considering. I don't understand why you're so against hammer throw. What sport do you play?

True, and even if that thrower gets up to numbers that WSM competitors are doing It may not directly improve distance... Many big name throwers now are more about just maintaining their strength levels and improve skill.

they are trying to get stronger but at a point you can only be so strong, look at cantwell in shott-an event that requires more strength, then skill- he benches over 600lbs and is like 6'7 yet barnes has the record and only benched 500 and was 6'4. So skill is much more important, but unless your benching like 400+ and squating near 700 lbs or so you should still focus on getting stronger also.
