  • My Grandfather Major Arthur Bell of The Irish Guards recently died. My Brother, Cousin and I carried my Gradfather's coffin in to the service with this music playing. Very sad but also very proud to do so. QUIS SEPERABIT.

  • God Bless The Irish Guards, and God save The DOG.

  • Good luck to the Micks from Ireland.

  • @bigjohn697791 - an Irish battery in the Royal Artillery!? Sounds dangerous:)) Too much laughter! Never really understood why the Irish join the British Army (because it's organised & has a "tradition" of Irish enlisting?), but I'm glad you do, and very many thanks.

  • I feel very proud of my Grandad - Major G H Willcocks who was a fine gentleman, muscian and composer - Grandad please look after mum now :( XXXXXXX

  • i am a irishman from birr co. offaly irish republic serving in the british army in a irish battery in the royal artillery

  • The Micks are not in any way secterian! You will hear both loyalist tunes and nationalist tunes being played, marching to and from guard duty by the pipes and drums.

A nod to the humour and mixed nature of the regiment!

  • @eddiesurfs Well said, The Micks are one of the finest regiments in the British Army, and one of the closest as well, pick on one, you pick on them all. They have just done an tough tour in Afghanistan, and deserve all our support. Remember we have more in common with each other, ( Irish, Welsh, Scots, English), at this time, than seperates us.

  • It is old but it is beautiful, and its colours they are fine

It was worn at Derry, Aughrim, Enniskillen and the Boyne.

My father wore it as a youth in bygone days of yore,

And on the Twelfth I love to wear the sash my father wore.

  • excellent clip one of my favourites thanks for posting it.cheers.

  • one of my favourite clips on you tube brilliant.thanks for posting it.cheers

  • I love the Irish Guards dog, the wonderful Irish Wolfhound.

  • Once again I would like to reply to some of those who have contacted me about our neighbours in England. I would like to reiterate that old wounds have to be healed by those living in the present. We must respect the past for sure, but we must also live and learn from it. I believe that as we are all on this planet for a short time, breathe the same air and cherish our children we should live in peace. I think England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are valued neighbours

  • as an ex squaddie! did you know that you can't have a voice on how good "mad Mitch" was,& let us not forget "Paddy Blair Main"

  • @assasincomedy But sunshine Im British Im prone to insults.

Also why is your name Assasincomedy you did not kill comedy you are bloody hilarious.

  • @assasincomedy You quiet simply cannot admit you are in the wrong can you ??

So quiet simply you pick out parts of the argument piece by piece gattering what you can use to support your argument and then when you find nothing you turn to the most libralist moronic insults.

  • @thebritish25 Arguement? You have no argument? You have no evidence whatsoever to support your own argument? What I said is an opinion of many people, It doesn't need scientific fact behind it. Let me guess 'I HAV RUSSIAN FRIENDS WHO AUTOMATICALLY GIVE ME SUPERIOR FACT IN ARGUMENT' Just grow up.

  • @assasincomedy 1. You still have not anwsered my oringinal question

    2. I have countered your argument and in response you insult me which I have clearley displayed

    3. Once more you have insulted me

    4. your in the wrong and now you are just making a scene

    5. I whould say leave while you still have some dignity but we are way past that

    good day.

  • @thebritish25 Definition of an Insult: a rude expression intended to offend or hurt.

You have done the same thing to me, which I may call you a hypocrite. Sorry you cannot claim that you have won the argument when you have no sources backing your information at all. This is simply a dispute in opinions, nothing more. I'm sick of replying to this neverending argument, it just about reminds me of the war in the Middle East.

  • @assasincomedy Sir your making a scene

  • @assasincomedy " Who can do nothing but insult" please elighten me read throguth my comments and tell me about how they are just insults if you want to play the who did what game you insulted me four times I insulted you twice and I quote " Racist Moron" "Grow Up son" "Grammer" " you know nothing about military"

Your argument is poor you have not backed up your argument with sufficent evidence and then when you struggle you use the weakest insult to try and look the bigger man..

  • @assasincomedy Ha ha Racist I like that I have mates that come from Somalia Lebannon Hong Kong Ecudor and Russia and Poland all bloody good mates but you dont know the meaning of the word Mates do you sunshine

Calling me Racist you have a horrific just horrific judge of character

" Who can do nothing bur insult" well you insulted me by " Grow Up Son" and then you insulted my grammer hipocritacal much

  • @ChiefbyGod - you can buy it through Amazon. Very very good book. As an English lady (and mother of a son) it made me weep. Tragically what is done cannot be undone, but I hope we can move forward.

  • Where can I get a copy of " A Long Long Way" I want it for my library. Hard to sort things out. I believe in a United Ireland, but I also believe what these men do is everybit as important . And if an Irish Catholc can be every bit a good USN CPO and a good American then he can also be every bit a good soldier and Englishman; the terms are not mutually exclusive. I am also sick and tired of the game "...I'm more Irish Catholic than ya'are!..."

    Chief Bull

    USN/CPO VietNamVveteran

  • Proud to have served alongside the Micks in Iraq, great bunch of lads!!

  • @bigbadwah HOPE THE LADS FIND U....U KNOW WHAT I MEAN.DO U EVER FEEL SCARED.LOL O.N.E

  • Proud to be from Mayo

  • Well said Martone397! Be proud of your roots, as I am of mine. The second commandment is Love Thy Neighbour, not The Pope or John Knox or the Monarch of England. Have just read 'A Long, Long Way' by Sebastian Barry about the contribution of Irish troops in WW1. Tears to my eyes at the "injustice" and the manipulation of those men. Thank you and God Bless.

  • does anybody know the name of the song at 3:52?

  • @fianoglach123 the tune is a jig and it's called Lanningan's Ball

  • Great video. Congratulatios.

  • the sash and UYM on pipes lol

    brilliant

  • Great respect from overseas. We get knocked down, but we get right back up until the job is done. That's why we are damn good soldiers, boxers, firefighters, and cops. Coming from a firefighter. God bless.

  • @dynodonfb7 Dont be such a silly dick... ha ha that comment was gay

  • wow great great vid brill music

  • Great vid. Glad to see "the micks" back in vicky barracks.

  • My Father was with the Micks in WW2 , no British Regt would fight them - as for the Germans .................

  • I am proud to be a Limerick man and I am proud that the first Irish Guard was a Limerick man . We are who we are and we should celebrate all aspects of our culture.

  • @Munstersir You mean the first traitor was from limerick. Be ashamed!

  • @TheMedicalman I am sorry for you and your narrow minded attitude. How dare you tell us who can and cannot use the term Irish it is our birthright. There are many traitors to Ireland and the Irish guards are not one of them. For those we have to look a bit closer to home.

  • @Munstersir well said!

  • @TheMedicalman fuckin hell, another arsehole who hasnt gt a clue...

  • @Munstersir TRAITOR.

  • To the Irish Guards and the Blackwatch from the US Army.

    Respect !!

  • I was in 1coy for 10 years from 1980 onwards 3 plt would 9 plt not have been 4 coy?

  • Hi, I might be getting my numbers mixed up! I was in the same time as the likes of Dermott Gunning, Billy Aspinall, Sammy Ritchie, Pat Ried, The Bat (remember him). I must know you. My name is Mick Chapman... what's yours?

  • My big bro is the 1st battalion irish guards <3

  • Great video! I'd many a family member serve in HM Royal Irish since it's inception.

  • what is the first tune please

  • Let Erin remember - slow march of the Irish Guards

  • Great video on a great regiment

  • excellent video, born and bred southern irish, but my fathers uncle fought with the irish guards in the first world war.

  • to Rob39uk. I was born in UK to Irish born parents. The past is the past. I am proud of our Irish roots but I respect, admire and understand the protestant faith and tradition. There is no need to keep harping about minor differences in religion. Grow up!!! Fair play to the British forces in their struggle to make the world a safer place and for Ireland trying to build a peaceful society.

  • @martone397 do you know something? i was in the army for 15 yrs with the colours and the reserves, and i didnt know what religion the man next to me was, and i didnt care. we looked after each other. thats a lesson that civilians should learn. oh i might add if we are going down the religion route, i am church of scotland, my wife is roman catholic, i have four children, two rc, one ch of scotland, and one congregationalist. i have six grandchildren who will probably be baptised the same way.

  • @martone397 You are a great example of a brainwashed twat. ''Fair play to the British forces in their struggle to make the world a safer place'' its all for oil . dirty murdering scum, how dare they have Irish in their name

  • @TheMedicalman make the world saferb haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • @martone397 Ahaha, hard to do that when you have the protestant english marching around waving flags on their victory and slaughter of the Catholic Irish in northern Ireland. No peace will ever occur until GB gets out of a country that doesn't belong to them. Same with the US in Middle east.

  • @assasincomedy Actually if US pulls out of the middle east they will just keep bombing us.

  • @harharciggare Wrong. If we pull out and help them restore a sense of community WITHOUT the durisdiction of the Trade Federation, who has no Idea what 'Community' means; The amount of extremeists will die down.

  • @assasincomedy And what does it matter the Republic is now another lapdog of the EU not only that but the republic is looking for a massive bailout from the EU and or Britian.

And whats to say that the United Kingdom has no right to Ireland when Ireland is a British Isle ??

In fact if Ireland whould have been granted home rule there whould be no republic it whould still be part of Britian today.

  • @assasincomedy Also do you think it is that simple just pull out now leave Afganistan.

sonny Afganistan will not be done for at minimum another ten years we pull out now then the democratic goverment will hold on for a while and then it will be like South Vietnam all over

  • @thebritish25 What will be done for another 10 years?

More lives lost? A new government that gets attacked by constant terrorist attacks?

Sorry but occupying that place will NEVER work. The amount of extremists is increasing at an alarming rate.

  • @assasincomedy So what do you propse pull out of Afganistan and leave are borders open to terriorist attack ?

a pull out that will make the West look weak and pathetic in front of the new superpower et China India ??

Ill tell you it worked for Malaysia Yemen Oman and Iraq why not Afganistan.

So we should just pull at " Hello mister al-qudia we are week come and bomb us at will"

  • @thebritish25 Countless times in history have we tried to occupy that place. All failed.

So you think countless more people need to die so that we don't look 'weak' to China? Grow up son.

You obviously know nothing about the war in the middle east; go join the army and fight there before telling me we can occupy the place.

  • @assasincomedy

    countless lives *Sigh*

I want to get rid of war and prace around the merry go round of peace as much as everyone eles but its not going to happen.

They have declared a Jihad on Europe and America eather way people are going to die sunshine but you have to ask your self.

whould you rather see that conflict thousands of miles away on TV or in your front garden.

The Amusing thing is that you are tell me to grow up when you are insulting me and I havent insulted you once..

  • @thebritish25

Yes, and learn to use grammer; it takes me 10 minutes to translate your comment.

Jihads last as long as the Jihadists deem their mission necessary. If we pull out, give them a decent place to live and be peaceful, what will happen? Their Jihad will end.

  • @assasincomedy Once more you are using insults it does not offend me it is just a sign of weakness.

" Give them a decent place to live and be peaceful" what the hell do you think we are doing

What you think that we should just pull out while the ANA is weak the Taliban whould push them over like dominos and then they will live in a real peacefull soicity

with public exicutions forced worship where minor crimes like adultry are punished with dead by stoning where there is no internet no TV .

  • @assasincomedy no technology of any kind where women are treated like animals with no rights where there is no school for girls.

Whould you call that a peacefull socity ??

Christ you are an Arogant Facist

only give a shit about three people me myself and I

  • @martone397 love you man rob39uk is a sick man

  • @rob39uk I agree! NO SURRENDER!

  • I take it you were in the Pipes & Drums
