Thanks a bunch for posting this, just made my first vortex marble after viewing your video a couple of times. I missed the step where you add the clear fill before the back shell on my first try, but my second - wow. THANKS!
nice work man!-) I love and miss the bacon simmering sound of a carlisle, are you a number3 or number 5 center fire? I envy that big graphite plate, gonna need to get myself one of those.-)
sounded like it, and watching you rake with clear, it certaily looked like the flow and heat of a number 5, yeah, I bet if you had the 3 you would occasionally wish you had the 5.-) its a tough thing always having the perfect flame for the job.-)
Great Job as always Chad. I see the steps but want to know ... once you have the cone and have set the first lines do you twist those or are they twisted a little just burning in and keep the cone? Also when your building up the back and you have the color on do you build up the clear and round before moving to the lens? 5 stars and ty for sharing.
It depends. For just a plain vortex, I usually lay the lines down, melt them in, then put on the background color. Then heat it all up and twist it all at the same time. This one is a little different. I twisted it some before I added the background. Form the back half of the marble with clear and round it out before adding the outside color.
Nice work man , am just curious about what type of torch you are using? that's a one large flame !

It's a #5 center. I wish I had a #3. The big graphite plate came from Winship I believe...
