yeah, this is a vibraphone. You use felt mallets and it has a much mellower tone, I believe its used pretty much solely for jazz. It also has a sustain pedal. Its also awesome.
Milt Jackson re-defined the Vibraphone. Lionel Hampton was the king of the instrument for so long that it seemed no one was really going to make it better. Then along came the MJQ and Milt. I can't imagine how it can ever become more wonderful than that!
