  • @meirishguy You're welcome.

  • WOW .. WOW .... WOUAAAAOOOOOOOOOOW :O

  • I LOVE SINGING THIS SONG. YOU do such a wonderful job!!! I sill say Alice Fay did it the best in the low voice in the Movie but Julie Andrews sis it the best in High voice

  • @coloratura21 Thanks.

  • This exact same rag tune/song was played in orchestrated form in James Cameron's 1997 movie Titanic. It was in the scene when the ship had just struck the iceberg & the 1st class passengers were told to wear life jackets and leave their cabins. Beautiful song! Love both piano and orchestra versions

  • @MastersoftheOpera Thank you.

  • Just AWSOME! Just currious, have you ever thought about working for QRS making player rolls? I know for myself, i'd buy every one!

  • The thought has crossed my mind, but I don't have time to contact them right now.

  • Isn't this a movie, I think I saw it on TCM

  • I don't think the song WAS a MOVIE but used in many different Movies.

  • hmm intresting I distinctly remember a movie I saw on TCM with a similar name, it was an old black and white film (circa 1940's I think). If anyone can recall the name of said film it would be benificial to me

  • @graidstin 1938 20th Century Fox "ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND" staring Tyrone Power, Alice Faye, Don Ameche and Ethel Merman. Hope this helps. I'm a old movie buff nad love TCM!!

    D

  • I enjoy theatre Organ lots, and played once on the Wurlitzer Pipe organ at the Paramount in Indy... long closed now and organ sold in pieces... sad.

  • Thanks for confirming that. Right on...

  • OMG...I'm playing the basic version from Alfred's All in one...I think I'll stick my head in the oven!

Neat piece. Is that what they call 'stride'????

  • That is indeed the old original stride style of piano. Remember I am an old man from the old school.

  • hey, that was really good! The marching band im in is playing this song, but it sounds a lot different and its slower. i guess thats because its arranged by a Jay Bocook. Nice job, though!

  • thanks

  • I am so impressed with your abilities! I have really enjoyed listening to your uploads! Thanks so much! :o))

  • Thanks, back atcha!

  • ARB is from 1911. It was played on the Titanic, one of the surviving officers testified to hearing it while he helped passengers into the lifeboats.

  • yeah, I knew that, but didn't feel like sharing it. Titanic was such a horrific disaster, and being tha tI like steamboats and such, well, you know......

  • I like the Titanic too. It is a sad story.

  • I just discovered your channel and was blown away. You are very talented. I am amazed.

  • Thanks!

  • do u get trird of writing "thanks" all the time? lol. i have this song on my ipod but it is an a capella group that sings it.

  • Always be humble, always be greatful, and always say THANKS to those that give you a good word. Thanks, Allen.

  • TERIFFIC !!!!!!!!!! My husband was a jazz pianist and he put carpet tacks on the practice pedal for me so when he played ragtime ( my fav) it sounded like an old fashioned nickelodean.

  • Kewl! I used thumb tacks on the hammers of piano at one time.

  • He probably put the tacks on the higher notes of the piano, on the hammers that hit the strings. Piano tuners can order a bar that you can pull a lever, and have these things come down in front of the hammers, and have the same sound effect. These were popular on old player pianos. Len P.

  • THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING!

  • thanks!

  • Well played.

    Greatings from Trondheim, Norway....

  • thanks!

  • You are a terrific pianist! Would you play a rendition of the old (foxtrot)song "Josephine?"

    MM

  • Almost 44 years now.

  • Legend!

  • thanks

  • fucken awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tha is magnificent!! well done! love to see you play the maple leaf rag!

  • Thanks, Steven! I have the Maple Leaf Rag on youtube also!

  • Very Nice. Its very high pitched. lol. Do you play any other instruments?

  • I play the organ sometimes at church and I am a liscensed calliopist.

  • What is a "calliopist"?

  • A calliope is a steam powered pipe organ of sorts. Very common on the steamboats. For more info on calliopes wikepedia it!

  • again you amaze me!

  • thanks

  • Very nice, Its its 100% fact that it WAS played on Titanic. So i would change that Supposedly to was. And it was 1911 that this song came out i believe.

  • thank you!

  • You really have got a great talent. I am pleased that there are some people who can play great music, even now, with rap being the 'flavor of the month'.
