  • so tell us something about the molds you used? i assumed you made the paper armor first then hardened it and use those to make the molds?

  • what plastic did you use is it hard

  • do you sell the costume parts???

  • i'm still a little bit confused about the vacuum forming. what do you use it for? making molds to make copies later on?

  • lucky my school has 1 i just needa pay for the plastic sheet

  • Have you tried a holding a heat gun over the more detailed parts while the vacuum is applied?

  • could you vacuum form a helmet, or do u think it would be too tall?

  • so whats the base molds made from???

  • are these vac formed parts for sale? like as in a parts kit?

  • Can you make a Video on how this machine work and what you used to do it

  • Im making a Vacuum Forming machine. How much HP is your shop vac. Mines is 3.5 Hp would that work

  • @MeSoHappy: That can work depending with some smaller platens. For the full 2'x3' frame I'm using above I'm using three 3HP shop vacs in parallel... but those who really know how to do this properly will tell you that shop vac HP does not correlate to vacuum pressure, which is measured in Hg or PSI.

  • so where do you get the blueprints for the armor?

and on the visors, do you use like clear polystyrene?

  • @jegsimmonsproduction : just google 'halo costume files'.

The clear plastic is called PETG. Cheers : )

  • Would you be able to make a visor out of this? Also are there any plaes which you can buy armour from that you could tell me? Thanks

  • @IlyaSPARTAN108 : I do make visors this way absolutely. As for buying/selling armor, most of that is handed through forums or personally among fan groups. There aren't many places to buy because most franchises don't want to give permission. For instance the 501st Star Wars costumers mostly make costumes for their own group and do not sell outside of that for legal liscencing reasons. There are a few studios out there though.. you'll have to google them.

  • what vacuum are you using?

  • how much would a vacume formed visor cost me?

  • Is it possible to get this material in any stores you may find in vietnam? Also, how do you make the bits you form the pieces out of? And how durable is the plastic?

  • @dman19851996 : I can answer that the next time I'm in Vietnam, but until then I can only tell you that I purchase my materials from a plastic distributor in New Jersey. The bucks that are used for forming are made in a varity of ways, carving, scultping, 3-D modeling and resin lamination. The plasting is reasonably durable. It's not real armor by any means, but can be made as strong as you like it.

  • @SeanBradley would it be possible for you to mold an odst helmet visor? if so would you send me one if i paid you?

  • Did you buy or make the vacuum former?

If bought, how much did it cost?

  • @Jboycool4 Search 'TK560 vacuumformer" on google, I can't link you to the online plans.

  • @SeanBradley what kind of plastic did YOU use? polystyrene? and once you make the copy mold, do you cut it out or pour resin in and thats your mother mold?

  • @DRAGONIRONFIST : HIPS is the name of the plastic, it's a type of polystyrene. My models are hand made and are re-used, not copies from the first pulls. Really if you want more information about vacuumforming, I've mentioned TK 560 . com , thats where I learned how to do this.

  • @SeanBradley thanks, any percise measurements for the plastic? and what i meant was, is the plastic CAST ready?, meaning you cut it out, or can u use this plastic shell to make more molds? thanks again

  • The bucks for the machine are made from wood and resin.

  • what is your mold made of?

  • @MistahPenniman : Wood and resin.

  • me too

  • Do u guys take orders I need some odst armor

  • awsome

  • Amazing.

  • I love seeing this thing in action. To put it simply, it's just so freaking cool.

  • yeaah it looks like a morphing sequence
