Great vid. I was wondering if there is enough train activity to make a day trip to the area with the family? Is there anything else in the area of interest? Like amusements or museums or a fair?
There is a train musuem in the Town of Altoona just south of this curve. I was there 2 summers ago. Its a neat town and trains go by this curve numbering in the hundreds each day.
the train was kinda SP like i suppose, but if they where to truely be SP like, they'd have had a 4 or 5 unit swing helper, lol. SP & DRGW was known for their 14+ engine consists.
You know, that was probably NS at one of their finest moments. And you said it. Dang nice power on the head end. Their version of the SD402 is my favorite because, as your video dictates, they have so much pulling force. Did you ever notice how NS is so SP-like? That whole train was set up the same exact way SP did. And I thought those manned helpers kicked ass! But Norfolk Southern pretty much does that in their sleep! That was awesome!
What a MONSTER M-train!! That switcher sandwiched in there was strange!! Wonder if the 2 helpers on this train were the set headed up the curve on that previous video??? Great vid!!
wow lucky you caught a RS-3L!!! nice catch with the nice clean Ex: Conrail in there why was the Sw1500 or Mp15Dc doing in the train as the second car was it broken down and being towed to the Junita shops in Altoona? love that though!!! you really caught some sweet stuff! that NS for ya! beautiul video
It took a tremendous amount of work to build this section of track in the curve....
