when people of inferior understanding speak it is easy for one of superior understanding to understand what it is that they mean to say or were their given misunderstandings arise from. so you are frustrated by ignorance. ask your self, are you frustrated by your ignorance, someone else's, or both your ignorance's. these subjects are very big and though we have not found "the indisputable truth and or science" of all life, conciseness, and spirit we still find ourselves sharing what we've found.
Your last words in this video say it all. You don't have any more to say on the subject. It's understandable you're annoyed. People like you so very badly wish there were no spiritual side to nature, yet there is. You would most likely subscribe to derived concepts of string theory and giant branes, but when a postulate that unifies the quantum and classical by use of collective consciousness is derived, you immediately dismiss it as religious bullshit. How closed minded you really are!
I agree with some of what you're saying, religion can definitely tarnish reality, especially when misinterpreted. However, the fact that this video was linked from the scientific discovery of the Unified Field leads me to believe that you are referring to that discovery when you talk about this "crap" as you so delicately put it. I'm not going to voice my opinion on the matter, suffice it to say that reacting with anger towards a belief, solely because you disagree, is a display of ignorance.
You consider yourself "Open-Minded" -- Using terminology... Jargon, gives me the understanding that you are not very educated.. Having an open mind does not consist of opinionating yourself, its being open to everything. There's disinformation everywhere, just be open to the idea.. It does not need to be accepted as underlying truth. Purely FYI. Consciousness has nothing to do with metaphysics..
So, I hear your anger, u should be more FOR something, than against ^^ well, I think it is all about happiness in the end, whether u like to hear about consciousness from David Chalmers, Krishnamurti or Robert Anton Wilson. To me, it's all a bunch of words, thoughts and ideas, sure some are great, and I take those to heart, but the lesser ideas... I'm not going to fight them with my frame of mind, and the way I see things, because then I´m threatening the open-mindedness of me. U know? =)
Sit down, close your eyes and meditate..or have a kitkat. Why waste so much energy? All this CO2 you breathe out is polluting the atmosphere. You sound like a very intelligent guy thing.. . Allow yourself to go with it and let go of all this anger. You understand it or you don't. If you don't like it , that's ok as well. There's room for everyone. No big deal. CHILL OUT. You really should try that meditation
You've got perfect arguments "just ridiculous" - that's not the argument man. Maybe you think, that your speech is less trivial, but the fact is unified field is the most logic explanation of everything in the world. Every vibration cause other vibrations, every single wave affects other waves - it only depends on scale of perception. Consciousness means life, it cause all the world change, time flow, and in fact is unified in one living organism called universe.
I like your videos bro, you seem like a really thoughtful sort of dude, one thing i gotta say is that there is a foundation for the physics your talking about, although the psuedo religious preaching that goes on pisses me off too. its abstract and as with everything has a degree of uncertainty and weird shit surrounding it, but as hicks memorably put it 'one conciousness experiencing itself subjectivley' does say tell us something, its difficult to understand but its not without merit.
watching this video was very refreshing. i know you made it ages ago, but it's nice to see someone sharing this frustration. the pervasiveness of some of this borderline-offensive nonsense has begun to baffle me and make me weep for the world lately. thank you.
agree with u 100%. The bad thing is that u see many people listening to this guy, people without any scientific background, only relligious. I wonder what kind of PhD this guy is. And those ppl asking questions sound like actors.
he doesn't mean the physical heart. when referring to the heart of a human's energy field, he means the cerebral cortex and frontal lobe.
the reason "everything is energy" is so profound is because it can be understood from many different perspectives and it can give you insight into much more complex concepts than what you are simply reading. the statement "everything is energy" can be represented by a cosmic lemniscate. it is the symbol of infinite reality.
I loved the last sentence - "I don't have anything else to say on the subject" - would that you had started with that sentence! Galileo once was on the fringe of mainstream science - all ground-breaking science starts by examining theories which are outside of the main paradigm. Read Thomas Khun - you may learn something.
The clip in which you played and then ranted about, you did not understand.
He did not literally mean, the consciousness comes from the heart. If you looked more into the specific subject, you would understand better. He meant, that because consciousness is what drives what we see as life; reality, one's emotions, behaviour and thoughts spin the web of reality itself.
Agreed. A lot of this metaphysical and epistemological bullshit that's being pumped around is about as irrelevant and useless as faith healing and paraphysics.
i love little kids on youtube who think they understand science and need to upload video's to share their knowledge, tho those videos never contain any information or argument whatsoever, just angry german kid rant.
maybe in a few years when u have physics classes you will understand more.
Completely agree. apart from the vibration thing. I think there is something to the description of things being vibrations. Well Frequencies. But yeah I generally agree.
WELL SAID !! I share your anger at the new age wackos who steal words from real science and string them together into TOTALLY MEANINGLESS "word salad"! The prime examples being "energy, vibrations and frequencies"! REAL science is orders of magnitude deeper than any new age bullshit, but unfortunately real science requires real brainpower, plus much time and effort, to comprehend, so the wooly-minded new-age nutcases take the lazy option - to paddle about in the shallows of pseudoscience.

One of the funniest New Age metaphysics videos I've seen is this one where some guy from New Jersey is arguing that because we cannot reach the most fundamental particles nothing exists and we are all trapped in some illusion. It's not the conclusion that's essentially the worrying part, it's his argument (or lack of) and the likelihood he was going to ask for my money if I'd continued watching.
Good rant!... Although, I'm still not convinced that what Dr. Hagelin's saying is complete B.S.
We're quite comfortably attached to the physical world which we have comfortably learned to interact with.
If string theory is true we're all just a bunch of vibrating strings. It already amazes me how much we currently perceive of the power of those vibrations (every day life).
If we could only tap into the deepest levels of those vibrations somehow, imagine the possibilities...
I don't think we are that different in our approach towards mind. I studied philosophy at college and in part at university, but I've come to realise that a large part of it is just language games, as Wittgenstein would say. Just jargon and convoluted, complicated arguments to form paradigms that bump against each other.
Truths in looking at the mind should be the most simple and obvious, elegant and explanatory.
It is philosophers who are the most guilty of muddying the waters.
"but I've come to realise that a large part of it is just language games, as Wittgenstein would say"
What Wittgenstein? In the Tractatus he would concur, then again he was mainly addressing Continental philosophical systems à la Hegel, child can deconstruct.
The later Wittgenstein would say: No, there are genuine metaphysical even theological problems.
If you do not like philosophy: Don't do it, like the large majority of people and lead a care-free life in material splendor.
Stupid people look at the words, smart people think about their meaning.
This is why using "scientific jargon" is so effective at convincing people to believe in something. Even if what the words mean makes no sense at all.
@ubergossen That words make no sense to you ≠ 'it makes no sense'. you might consider that you don't get the sense of a thing because you don't have the information to. It isn't smart to be automatically reactive to what you don't immediately grasp.
@jancivil Naw, that's not what I'm saying. I'm talking about concepts that I DO understand make no sense. Of course there's tons of stuff that I just don't understand at all. I'm not the type of ignoramus who'll start reading a paper on M theory and say "big words! I don't get this, therefore it isn't true."
I'm just talking about using big scientific sounding words unnecessarily in order to try to make a stupid concept sound intelligent. The perfect example I can think of is ...
@jancivil cont. Transubstantiation. If you just read that word, you might think it was describing an important science theory or something. Really it's the idea that wine and crackers LITERALLY transform into the blood and body of christ when some guy says some words over them and uses his holy magic.

@jancivil damn, just responded to a bunch of comments without realizing I was on my mom's account. Hate when I do that. Anyways, if you want to respond, do it to this comment or else I won't get any notification of it ha. Thanks!
Good rant, and I think you're largely right, of course. However, i do think that some of the"New-Agey" stuff is pointing to valuable insights in its own way. Granted, it would be far better to just present those insights without all of the quasi-religious nonsense, which is why I prefer a direct approach.
I looked into it actually - and it is something to do with the fact that I posted it to my friends on facebook - apparently this is an "anti-spamming" issue....
Which annoys me because youtube provides share tools! - Things like this hit us little guys the hardest!
actually, id like it if you did have more to say on the subject because you are able to take the frustration of many viewers and with your videos, be concise and expose this nonsense in a way that i think many (certainly I) cannot do.
people are spoiled. i seems their senses intuition and reasoning are no longer enough. they'd prefer to be lost in fairy-tales. i guess this is nothing new.
I agree and share your frustration. . . Now, I don't want to come off as the type of person who thinks that if Einstein did something it must have been right. I just wanted to note that this whole theosophy business ("the Secret Doctrine") and other associated unusual beliefs, were sometimes held among the early physicists of the 20th century. Einstein and possibly even Heisenberg were both interested in the "Secret Doctrine", Einstein read it extensively.
I absolutely love this video. It's one of your most entertaining yet! I couldn't agree more with every word out of your mouth as well. I can relate to your exact feeling when I watched "what the bleep...quantum edition" lol...literally yelling at the TV!
Thanks for posting this video and I hope it gets lots and lots of views!! :) :) :)
Thanks Justin - I am usually alot more restrained in my presentation as not to "offend", but I just looked back at all my videos and in reflection - they are drier than the inside of Maggy Thatcher's legs! The main purpose of youtube isn't to be right it is to entertain, perhaps I had lost sight of that.
Hahahaha, well to me, the language used in philosophical discussion tends to have an eye-crossing effect but I think I agree with most of what you say when I'm following your train of thought. I've been quietly subscribed for a while and generally enjoy your vids but this one required me to voice a two thumbs up -- it was just that good! :) Have a great night/day.
@LordImmolation purpose of youtube isn't to be right it is to entertain
you aren't either, except to a person mirroring your attitude, which is all you have really; you're a jerk needing strokes on youtube and you found that being reactive and negative is the way to get it.
......I have listened to his complete audio "lecture series".....not a fan...not a fan at all!
He throws everything together in such a mishmash haphazard way....and puts his integral approach at "stage 6" of development and the rational approach at "stage 4" or something like that!
I don't know of any philosophy that was so self-serving...except maybe Socrates' view that philosophers make the best lovers...(but of course - Socrates was right on that one!)
No one is trying to sell or convience you of anything, are you trying to convice someone of something?
No matter how passionate you are about your position on reality if it is incorrect then it is incorrect, and your belief or dis-belief can not alter that fact.
Yes you know the words others are speaking, but only the person speaking knows what they mean, like yourself.
I can only assume and interpret what you are saying, and it makes no sense to me.
Also, you only believe that people are trying to sell you on something they believe, which IMO that is a false assumption, like the false assumptionn of science which says we are alive when it has no proof.
Interesting video, IMO a scientific fundamentalist like yourself isn't any different than a religious fundamentalist.
I agree with you by the way that we have no energy within ourselves, that we are not consciousness at all, we are only a reaction and have no part in the cause, and literally there is no self, no such thing as self accutally exists.
We want to believe there is something real about us, but there isn't.
I feel the pain. Critical thinking seems to be too much like hard work for many people. I mean all the reading youve got to do and the new ideas you have to struggle with. Whats more it doesnt seem to end in comforting certain knowledge.
Totally agree. And it's not just YouTube. You go into bookshops, and you see shelves labelled "Philosophy and Religion", or "Psychology and New Age", as if these conjoined categories belonged together. Very annoying.
burning 100.000 "ideas" in word's such as "metaphisics, art, science, ridicolous, "crap", bulshit, "nonsense, math"..etc. is actualy "ignorance". Everyone is "right", everyone is "wrong". Any idea is "THE IDEA" , any qouestion is "THE QUESTION" and any answer is "THE ANSWER". One who "DOES NOT" understand is right ! One who DOES understand is also right ! Is just that some aren't "aware"of this.
...the quantum realm of consciousness manifests as energy waves interconnected in a unity experiencing itself through its subjective projection into mater...
I was nearly blowing coffee out of my nose when he started talking about a quantum heart. These are just people trying to sell books, not genuine mystics. Or maybe they're a bit cracked. Either way, if you think you might be interested in some form of genuine mysticism try Aleister Crowley, the first skeptical empirical occultist.
In the past I subbed to the words "consciousness" and "philosophy"...BUT I got so much stupid junk in my subscription box that I deleted them ...
Truth is that too many people don't want to work hard to understand reality...
They want a kind of Hallmark Card view of scientific theories and metaphysics...
Having said that, I'm reading a very interesting book, "Naming Infinity" about the strange origins of descriptive set theory in the Russian imiaslavie mystical practice of name worshiping
Yeah, what I am perhaps more against is the whole "new age" attitude towards investigation. Bits and pieces from all different cultures taken wildly out of context. There is certainly value to the holistic pictures of some alternative philosophies/sciences...
Just these people put all of the terms together and try to understand them in a very western literalistic framework, while simultaneously criticizing such understanding.
well, at most they are talking metaphorically, to say thoughts come from the heart can mean at most that thoughts come from that part of the mind that projects its feelings onto the heart...
not intentionally. But people can always be interpreted to be talking about their feelings.
not saying that gives it value, just saying. and it can have meaning. if your old grandpa says listen to your heart, you'll feel it in you heart... it has meaning. And indeed, the mind projects certain classes of emotions onto the heart like pain into a phantom limb
If anything, new age stuff exists to give people that cannot comprehend the logic of the world some peace of mind. For those who cannot , will not, or are unable look to assend to ideas... and thus need something to hold on to to get by... (many of these people exist) I would rather they chose some lovy dovy bullshit that alteast gave them some peace and pushed them to help people then to some of the alternatives...Hippies are atleast the world helping kinf of deluted...hehe
lol, of course its nutjob stuff... but nothing to get so worked up about. if we got worked up about every false belief.. (including our own) wed die of heart attacks in the next 5 minutes...hehe
You seem stressed... maybe you should look into the quantum mechanics of your heart and modulate your personal energy so that it coincides with a more positive vibration continuum.
It's pretty damn frustrating. It's just the same old magical thinking with a bizarre conglomeration of scientific jargon superimposed in a way that is so nonsensical it is actually difficult to debate. I find these sorts of people hard to debate because their propositions are so unspecific and incomprehensible that I don't even know where to begin.
I feel your pain, Kyle. I think one can do metaphysics systematically or poetically, but not both at once. When we try to combine the two we end up with the kind of nonsensical mush that leads only in circles.
Rant away man. I understand your frustration. I get REALLY annoyed when people try to explain a mysterious phenomenon like Consciousness by piling on more mystery....and expressing it in the most ambiguous ways.
when people of inferior understanding speak it is easy for one of superior understanding to understand what it is that they mean to say or were their given misunderstandings arise from. so you are frustrated by ignorance. ask your self, are you frustrated by your ignorance, someone else's, or both your ignorance's. these subjects are very big and though we have not found "the indisputable truth and or science" of all life, conciseness, and spirit we still find ourselves sharing what we've found.

You're 100% right. In a normal debate, we try and get more specific so that we can find actual answers.
In a metaphysical debate, they try to make you argue against increasingly broader generalisations and lead into strawman arguments.
These guys are totally dishonest and would rather appear to win a debate by baffling the opponent than actually to seek truth.

Good rant, and I think you're largely right, of course. However, i do think that some of the"New-Agey" stuff is pointing to valuable insights in its own way. Granted, it would be far better to just present those insights without all of the quasi-religious nonsense, which is why I prefer a direct approach.
Naturyl 2 years ago
Yes. Direct approach please. Kthxbye. I support ya on this kthxbyhavnicedai.

Celph, you enjoy mixing your comedy and philosophy - you may actually enjoy this video: - watch?v=7hGFG7O5LSE
Unfortunately, youtube froze the view count on it recently which is almost like algorithmic fascism!! >:-(
LordImmolation 2 years ago
I did enjoy it! Why the hell did they freeze the view count?
CelphaFiael 2 years ago
I looked into it actually - and it is something to do with the fact that I posted it to my friends on facebook - apparently this is an "anti-spamming" issue....
Which annoys me because youtube provides share tools! - Things like this hit us little guys the hardest!
LordImmolation 2 years ago
ken wilber, anyone?
actually, id like it if you did have more to say on the subject because you are able to take the frustration of many viewers and with your videos, be concise and expose this nonsense in a way that i think many (certainly I) cannot do.
people are spoiled. i seems their senses intuition and reasoning are no longer enough. they'd prefer to be lost in fairy-tales. i guess this is nothing new.

Ken Wilber. Yeah. Why not. At least he doesn't support quantum buddhism or quantum feminism.
1PostPoMoMaN1 2 years ago

LordImmolation 2 years ago
Hahahaha, well to me, the language used in philosophical discussion tends to have an eye-crossing effect but I think I agree with most of what you say when I'm following your train of thought. I've been quietly subscribed for a while and generally enjoy your vids but this one required me to voice a two thumbs up -- it was just that good! :) Have a great night/day.
Omega5001x 2 years ago
@LordImmolation purpose of youtube isn't to be right it is to entertain
you aren't either, except to a person mirroring your attitude, which is all you have really; you're a jerk needing strokes on youtube and you found that being reactive and negative is the way to get it.

I've never seen you this worked up about an issue before. Hope it helped. There sure is a lot of craziness out there.

The part that bothers me the most is seeing the 5 star ratings of many of those types of videos you are talking about.

Avoid anything by Ken Wilber. You might have seizures like i did.
ContraWagner 2 years ago
......I have listened to his complete audio "lecture series".....not a fan...not a fan at all!
LordImmolation 2 years ago
No one is trying to sell or convience you of anything, are you trying to convice someone of something?
No matter how passionate you are about your position on reality if it is incorrect then it is incorrect, and your belief or dis-belief can not alter that fact.
early2it 2 years ago
Yes you know the words others are speaking, but only the person speaking knows what they mean, like yourself.
I can only assume and interpret what you are saying, and it makes no sense to me.
Also, you only believe that people are trying to sell you on something they believe, which IMO that is a false assumption, like the false assumptionn of science which says we are alive when it has no proof.
early2it 2 years ago

2cabs2toucan 2 years ago

23discordians 2 years ago
In the past I subbed to the words "consciousness" and "philosophy"...BUT I got so much stupid junk in my subscription box that I deleted them ...
Truth is that too many people don't want to work hard to understand reality...
They want a kind of Hallmark Card view of scientific theories and metaphysics...
Having said that, I'm reading a very interesting book, "Naming Infinity" about the strange origins of descriptive set theory in the Russian imiaslavie mystical practice of name worshiping
2bsirius 2 years ago
Yeah, what I am perhaps more against is the whole "new age" attitude towards investigation. Bits and pieces from all different cultures taken wildly out of context. There is certainly value to the holistic pictures of some alternative philosophies/sciences...
Just these people put all of the terms together and try to understand them in a very western literalistic framework, while simultaneously criticizing such understanding.
LordImmolation 2 years ago
Yes, exactly the way I feel...Very well said!

well, at most they are talking metaphorically, to say thoughts come from the heart can mean at most that thoughts come from that part of the mind that projects its feelings onto the heart...
pyrrho314 2 years ago
..watch the video, he isn't being allegorical!
LordImmolation 2 years ago
not intentionally. But people can always be interpreted to be talking about their feelings.
not saying that gives it value, just saying. and it can have meaning. if your old grandpa says listen to your heart, you'll feel it in you heart... it has meaning. And indeed, the mind projects certain classes of emotions onto the heart like pain into a phantom limb
pyrrho314 2 years ago

Nykytyne2 2 years ago 5
@Nykytyne2 Unspecific and incomprehensible? =/
There are mathematical algorithms that explain exactly what they are SPECIFYING. The comprehension part is up to you.
JustABSide 1 year ago
I feel your pain, Kyle. I think one can do metaphysics systematically or poetically, but not both at once. When we try to combine the two we end up with the kind of nonsensical mush that leads only in circles.
