I also have other foods bought in bulk that say not for resale. It just means they aren't intended to be sold individually, it doesn't mean they're illegal to have. Imagine what it would cost to prosecute people for something so small. Why would anyone be so worried about doing everything legally as to be concerned over having MRE's?
idont know were you live but the base here in knoxville sell the mre for 5 dollars a piece right on the base. and i ask them it is leagle to have them .they have no idea why you think there ilegal.

They are even sold all over Thailand and in outdoor stores in Germany, and all packages say "not for resale" or something, but nobody cares... I think the Not For Resale print is just a statement that they were intended for a government entity and not for straight-to-consumer sales, but that doesnt mean consumers are breaking the law by buying them.
I shop at the commisary on base.. (sheppard AFB in Texas) And they sell the military mre's there for 8 bucks each.... So if they sell them, isnt that illeagal? How does that work?.. lol

MRE's Can be bought in most surplus stores and it NOT against any law to buy or sell them. I live in CA and if it were not legal it would be here.
