  • Grab the audio from this song at tubepull doht cohm.

  • If Iced Earth Stayed like this i would listen to them all the time

    badass track/album

  • This video post is an optical transfer, not always the best quality, but better than nothing.

  • can anyone tell me what guitar is at 0:10 please????

  • So that's what John Greely looks like. I've been curious ever since I became an Iced Earth fan about a year and a half ago or so. Google resulted in no images whatsoever.

Anyway, I prefer the Days of Purgatory version, Barlow > Greely. The only song I like on Night of the Stromrider better than the ones on Days of Purgatory is Stormrider, and Greely doesn't even sing that, Schaffer does.

Google resulted in no images of Gene Adam either. Anybody have a link to a video or pics of Gene Adam?

  • Also, 1:51 no mistaking it. That's the dungeon theme from Super Mario Land. No coincidence.

  • John Greeley!!!!

  • awesome video and song!

  • 4ever!

  • Yeah!!!!!! Iced Earth Forever!!!!!!!!

  • my fav era! 5/5

  • Haha Iced Earth in thrash mode xD

  • dude an awesome song

  • really rare stuff, beautifull!

  • dude,what an awesome chorus

  • Jon Shchaffer has the most solid riffs in history, he nails them with deadly precision

  • Fucking killer! "Night of the Stormrider" is easily one of I.E.'s best records. I happen to have it on vinyl (the version with the "flying frog" cover art by Axel before he did the third and final version that we all know and love). I'm a big fan of John Greely's vocal style. It had an "evil" sound to it and it fit "Night of the Stormrider" very well! The first time I heard the vocals at the beginning of "Travel In Stygian", it sent chills up my spine.

  • was that a BC RICH BRONZE WARLOCK? at 44 seconds? why is a big band using a cheap guitar?

  • Old ass video.. plus it was a demo.. i don't think anyone in the 80s did any better when they weren't that famous XD

  • This is an ooolllld video. They weren't as big back then.

  • Well they're not really that big now. Which is a shame.

  • that's probably just the guitar he's used to. and this is metal, being big doesn't have to mean you can afford a nice guitar hahah

  • ...De_sert Raaaaiin! ...its called on me, to WRITE! a comment. YEAH!!!

cool sucks i didnt know there was this bad ass video 4 it. Hey what ever happened to that cool ass neon light of theirs??

  • My fav iced earth song.. Sweet as.. i never knew they had a clip for it!

  • dito

flying hair, fog, heavy shredding...this one is epic

  • shit me, if this is iced earth.. this is how they should have stayed!! thats one insane intro riffage

  • The way this song starts on the album is amazing too. It's got a sort of sitar effect going on, then it goes into the main riff. It's a shame they cut it off for the video.

Stormrider is without a doubt the coolest and darkest album ever made.

  • @DieSchwartzmann The other way around... it goes right into the main riff and it sounds better than the album version.

  • nice puffy shirt there dude...

  • Goddamn this is Sick... i had no idea there was a Video for this song

  • me neither, it's beyond bad ass

  • They look kinda dumb and cheesy here but this song just rips your head off.

  • i agree haha itd be better without that!

  • correct me if im wrong but i think in the actual CD they dont have it?

  • That's what I was thinking as well, the backing vocals sound way different on the cd. Could it be because the audio track for this video was taken from the original version, while I own the remastered versions of the early albums (the ones that have been avaiable since Dark Genesis came out)? Can anyone who owns the old version confirm this?

  • The original version sounds similar to this, but Greely's vocals sound different. I believe this was a live recording because even the guitars and bass sound different from the original. This is the best version of this song IMO.

  • Yeah the drum fill at 0:21 sounds new.

  • I think it's partly live, you can hear three guitars at the same time, probably the rhythm guitar track from the album. I believe there are also some album vocals, but as you said, some of it sounds live. No matter what - it's great!

  • Natistheman1, ofcourse u would say itd be better without the falsatto, but thats because u aint old skool!

  • They sould have kept this lead singer. Thats just my opinion.

  • Heres a protip. Dont rip on jews when touring with Blind Guardian.

  • wat??? y??

  • That's what he got fired for. And for allegedly stealing from his bandmates.

  • oh lmao, wat a douche

  • I love Greely's voice, check out his new project, Seventh Servant. The production is awful, but his voice is much more mature and, in my humble opinion, he sounds better than in IE. And for all those haters... Barlow = Greely ;)

  • This shit is so much win.

NOTS is definitely their best. My favorite metal album of all times.

  • Yeah I appologize. I must have worded it wrong, I get so used to oversaying things sometimes, I meant to say this is one of the only songs that personally I actually like by them for thier old school thrash sound. I'm not a big fan of most Power Metal just old school stuff like Sanctuary and Metal Church. Just my opinion of course, Iced Earth are good at what they do then and now.

  • yeahh !!!

  • So because I'm not a fan of Iced Earth's later stuff that automatically makes me an idiot?

  • No you're an idiot for saying this is pretty much the only good thing the band ever did. It's an awesome song... but this video version is shittier than the CD version... which is shittier than Barlow's version. So if you think THIS video is pretty much the only good thing they have ever done... you're an idiot

  • This is pretty much the only good thing this band ever did. XD

This is even better then thier 1st album which was the only one I like.

  • You're an idiot...

  • Jon Greely and Gene Adam were the only tr00 Iced Earth-vocalists.

  • You're an idiot as well...

  • Allow me to dust off an old classic - I know you are, but what am I?

  • Matt Barlow is the voice of Iced Earth - Greely and Adam don't even come close.

  • Honestly, druryrandomnumbers, I can't agree. At all. Night of the Stormrider is absolutely the best album they ever did, and although the Barlow stuff is good, Mr Schaffer's anal retentive need for perfection sissified everything after Burnt Offerings. Not saying it ain't good, but it sure as hell doesn't come close to the assripping evil of Travel in Fucking Stygian.

  • Yes Night of the Stormrider is one of if not the best Iced Earth albums. BUT listen to the original version then listen to the songs on Days in Purgatory. Barlow's versions of those songs are far suppirior... hands down. But hey atleast you aren't saying Owens > Barlow... now those people are idiots!

  • I've listened to Purgatory, I'm just not a big fan, I think the original vocalists fitted the raw, dark feeling better.

I think Owens is a terrific singer actually, but he's gotten shit parts in replacing first Halford then Barlow. And he did not fit Iced Earth's style of music, AT ALL.

  • Yep, it's Iced Earth... NOT PRIEST! I aggree with you there man.

  • WTF!!

Barlow is great, but his melodramatic sinigng can sometimes piss me off and btw he cant be compared to Greely[for Night Of The Stormrider!! Greely's voice is made for this!!dark atmosphere and its "evil"!!

  • I think Greely has done much better on this song than Matthew.

  • I like Greely more then Barlow :P

    Barlow is to melodramatic XD

    IE rox anyways xD

  • Ye its seems to be true, but Barlow is also great singer. I like his singing as he did at covering Iron Maiden and Ac/Dc. Everybody has their own style but you cant change the past... you can only expect something new from future.

    \m/

  • I wouldn't go so far as to say Barlow sounds melodramatic. Just maybe a little too emotional. Regardless, he has more power to his singing than Greely did. Some dudes will sing with feeling, and others are just doing their job.

  • I wish they had some more old school footage like this we could see. I LOVE Night of the Stormrider.

  • Is there any Iced Earth song that beats this one?

  • for me this is the best song of iced earth, but with mathews voice its a lot better

  • Sounds like a completely different production job here.

  • The desert rain is changing me

It's called on me to rise

The desert rain is changing me

It's called on me to rise

  • iced earth its BEST

  • lol, it is desert rain, but ur missing the whole first part

  • dude, listen to the lyrics

  • if u see the comment above, i corrected myself. Its just missing the whole first minute of the song
