I don't give a dam what anybody says or thinks, Patti Labelle is one of the great DIVAS of all times! She has opened up doors for musicians of today and still sing her ass off! yall need to recodnize!
time is awful and what it does to voices is so sad. Yes for those who wouldnt be familiar with patti they would say this is great, but knowing what she once could do its sad. Ok i know someone in their late 60s will lose range and qualities in their voice, but it still sucks
The first time I heard Patti Labelle, she was singing this song on Extreme Makeover Home Edition, I've followed her ever since. I am an even bigger fan of Debbie Henry, the backup singer on the left, she is The Voice, for me. Love them
When she sings "ooh I've seen the dark side, too..." you know she means it. She takes all the pain and loss she has endured in her life and brings it to the stage, never giving less than 100% of herself. An artist filled with love and a spirit determined to keep on surviving. Amazing indeed.
Wow! I come back to this performance often... so powerful and heartfelt. The connection to U.S. Soldiers, Sailors and Airman takes on new meaning these days with the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell". In my mind I can see her singing this to the gay womyn and men of the US Armed Services.
I love love love this! I love Patti! She looks like an African queen whose just come back from a voyage through Asia! Then from 3:30 it was in the atmosphere, THANK YOU!
wow! Oh! I love absolutely the song and absolutely love her version.I've been lookin for this on here. thank you for posting this.this entire cd was the bomb!
not only is she powerful and untouchable but she is also sweet and a wonderful person beautiful i wish i could meet her just one time i dont think shs has a bad bone in her body i love this lady she is a true example of what this world need to be like
@MannarinoJoey No you're not. People talk and talk, think they know what's happening,. but are truly clueless. All vocalists have their ups and downs, the human voice is organic not a machine. Her voice "never left" just because it has it's ebb and flow.
LMAOOOOOOO why insult me?.. Life is too short to be trying to bring negativity.. Sue me if its that serious.. Just appreciate that I'm spreading positivity to this extraordinary talent of Ms. Patti Labelle
I think its a combination of lessons and the rearrangements of her performances. Ive noticed in her recent performances that instead of coming in on a 7 shes comes in on a powerful 3 or 4 and, which then allows her self the time and energy to still reach the climax. Then she has dropped the keys in almost all her songs, but still retaining the ability to fully utilize her full chest range.
Now, instead of starting a song off with full force and making you fall in the floor, she starts out slower and builds the song, which allows her to conserve her voice while still going for the big notes in the song.
ok i understand where u coming from because thats what happens with me if i start off betling and full voice i will be tired vocally by the end of the song which suppose to be the cllimax lol
I think its a combination of lessons and the rearrangements of her performances. Then she has dropped the keys in almost all her songs, but still retaining the ability to fully utilize her full chest range. the same think with the new LaBelle Performances.
I think Patti has got to be taking voice lessons. Recent performances complement that fact. Instead of the typical screech-ridden, falsetto-like belts, she is giving more of the chest and head-mixed strong belts that she is known for. She broke that song down and had mad energy to spare. That is one reason why she is my favorite singer of all time. Go Patti! God bless!
Listening to how she has progressed "techically" - I think Patti started vocal coaching around the time LaBelle split. She busted out doing things she had never done (technically and range wise) after LaBelle. As she gets older - her voice may be changing again - so that would cause concern for more coaching as well. ...Just a thought.
How come her voice is getting stronger again, has she been having lessons or something? For the past few years, she has been screeching a lot, but there are some good, strong belting notes here. I'm so pleased, but don't want to get my hopes up too soon! (incidentally, Aretha is also improving lately...must be something in the air!)
i'm not going 2 let u lie aretha is not getting better no time soon sorry u getting your hope's up for nothing MS.PATTI never lost it 2 me SO WERE NOT GOING 2 PLAY THIS GAMES
your right she has been straining alot lately but i think that happens to every singer the older they get the voice changes but still love mrs patti :)
let's stop the territorial BS, shall we? According to the law, every video of hers posted here on youtube was stolen so...in fact, it's not mine, yours nor whoever posts it.
I can't stop watching this performance! Incredible performance! Her voice was in really great shape heere! WOW! This is one of her best performances in years. For some reason, it reminds of her concert in 1995 when she did Tears In Heaven.
This should be a national anthem! Miss Patti did it very well. She speaks for a lot of us. You sing it Miss Patti!

@moroney1 Omg i"m sorry but totally disagree...sure if this about 20 years ago it might have a little stronger, but that still was amazing
JacksonObamafan4life 8 months ago
@JacksonObamafan4life ok, but i still think her chest range has lowered and she relies on head voice now more thn anything
moroney1 8 months ago
@moroney1 Yea, but never mind what we think, we can both agree that her voice is still amazing no matter how it changes.

She didn't even take a big breath of air. i wonder what that big note is and those on the end are? Anyone know?
Miguelito203 2 years ago
The big note was an A5. After that they were mainly F#5 notes and a few G5's. The ones in the very end, in head voice, were B5's and A5's.
