You must not have seen the movie or known about the battle of thermopolye ( i spelled wrong lol) because the spartans had a good chance of winning until they were betrayed, the persians army consisted of cavalry, however, the cavalrys main strength was when they could flank the enemy. As portrayed in the movie and in history, they could not have gotten behind the spartans without the traitor.
