Stana Katic does a superb performance in this. She plays Simone Renoir, a French chanteuse. Stana is Croatian, and the accent makes her more "exotic." @BernieM19051 She's not Croatian in accent - her natural accent is American/Canadian (I can't tell the difference). I think her parents were from Croatia, which is why she has the sort-of Slavic facial structure. It's pretty. :D
