In the siries this scene is kinda abridged. So its looks kinda strange.
In directors cut Shinji was infected with angel, so Rei self-distracted eva.
She wasn't sure about anything, only thing she reallied back than that she is a human. She understood the price of life. Of her life. she didn't loved Shingi. She just become close to the god (or whatever are there) enough to self sacrifice
It's a shame (though understandable) that the majority of people from the States have such a misconception about Japanese animation. People who would otherwise love a show like Evangelion are scared off because particular American subcultures that flaunt it so superficially.
Just listening to the music from this show makes me question life itself. Is there any point to human's trying to move forward? Is it even possible to completely rid oneself of loneliness? Would everything be better in a world where all were one and no one could be hurt? Do I really need others to make me who I am? How can people appear so different and unique but at the same time have the same loneliness at the deepest parts of their hearts?
It's all just to much for me to contemplate at once.
Anime is for trolling. Vacuous trolls are vacuous.
Anyway, the recording here isn't too great (lots of clipping, low sample rate), and I didn't originally think Eva had such a great musical score (even though I'm otherwise a total Eva fanboy), but hearing it arranged for a full orchestra like this is changing my mind. It's quite lovely. I'm re-watching the series at some point, probably in the near future, so I'll have to make sure to pay more attention to it...
@NemoMentisson Definitely pay more attention to the score, the way it plays off the dark atmosphere with almost upbeat sounding music is nothing short of eerie, this series definitely has some good tracks behind it :P, Thanatos probably being foremost.

Recuerdo cuando de pequeño siempre esperaba a que echaran la serie muy impaciente, de mayor la volví a ver con mas mentalidad, y la verdad esque me ha pasado como a QXHERAB, me ha marcado de por vida, la forma de ver las cosas, todo, es tan profundo si lo piensas, que despues de tantos años, me siga conmoviendo estas canciones, es algo grande, evangelion es grande, para mi el mejor anime DEL MUNDO,

A beautiful youth with wings and a sword who collected souls and take them to the Underworld, in the myths of the Ancient Greece...
@metalownsj00 me too. I never look at anything the same way. Whats crazy is that I am actually a very conservative Christian, but Eva has something in it that just connects to me even though it is so graphic, sexual, violent, and depressing. It is by far the most graphic, sexual, violent, and depressing show I have ever seen, but maybe that's what makes it so great?
@ffffleet Evangelion is about loneliness. All the characters have very diverse personalities, but once you get to know them better you realize that they're all hollow and lonely people. It's that brutal honesty about how people really are behind their masks that makes it so good.
I don't think it's any more violent, sexually charged and depressing than the bible. That's what I'll never understand about Christians and their double standards.

@nobunaga47 This is very true. Eva has a pull that no other anime has period. Frankly it is the only anime I have ever been actually attached to. It's like a little secret of mine from a time in my own adolescence where I was also a little F'd up as Shinji puts it. I have no clue where I first saw Eva, but once I found it I have never let it go as it is the only show that connects to the pain I used to carry for so long. Eva's conclusion that we all have that pain, and that its ok really helped.

Orthodox use it to refer to a part of their holy book.The 4 "euaggelists" (some stundents of Christ) wrote "Euaggelia". Every one of them describes the steps of God in earth. For instance, there are 4 similar stories, each one in a different "euaggelion" which describe "Genesis" -or the Birth-.
The 12 most known parts of the 4 "euaggelia" enclose all the story. "thanatos" is greek for death.

N.G.E. has become the anime that has always come to my mind... even though there's a lot of great anime out there... its always the one that i wanna watch all the time... there just something about it... ^_^

@nobunaga47 This is very true. Eva has a pull that no other anime has period. Frankly it is the only anime I have ever been actually attached to. It's like a little secret of mine from a time in my own adolescence where I was also a little F'd up as Shinji puts it. I have no clue where I first saw Eva, but once I found it I have never let it go as it is the only show that connects to the pain I used to carry for so long. Eva's conclusion that we all have that pain, and that its ok really helped.

Me asombra saber que ya pasaron mas de 15 años desde que conocí este anime, su soundtrack y arte relacionado y aun a pesar del tiempo me conmueve y me trae importantes recuerdos, estoy seguro que no soy el único al que este universo de Evangelion le ha dejado marcado de algun modo, sencillamente extraordinario!!!

@QXHERAB El anime que abri caminos a otros tantos, simplemente antes de el no existia un anime que te hiciera pensar mas alla de los sentimientos, es una pena que sea tan criticado por su final, pero al mismo tiempo es lo que aun lo hace ser vigente y tema de debate, un anime que representa el sentimiento de los años 90's, de soledad y vacio ante un milenio que se nos venia encima con la gran promesa de cambio, Evangelion es por donde se vea arte puro

@QXHERAB tienes razon evangelion es el mejor depues de 16 años y lo seguira siendo incluso en el 2016 2100 quizas pero,pero es algo que nos deja que pensar espero que siempre sea el mejor anime de 1995 una obra de arte TODO Videojuegos, GFS, Retake, MANGA, ANIME, DEATH AND REBIRTH, THE END, You are (not) alone, You Can (not) avance y falta mas Evangelion y anime para siempre

@QXHERAB asi es, creo es de los animes mas elaborados en cuanto a las partituras musicales que empleo algunas de las cuales solo se usaron una vez como Rei II pero reflejan lo mas profundo de toda la serie.
