Listening to this, I can see the huge influence Sugarfoot and the Ohio Players had on the 70's funk bands! And if you don't believe it...listen to OP's I Wanna Be Free after you listen to this. Everybody was trying to sound like Sugar...that includes Larry Blackmon of Cameo too!. Don't get me wrong...Michael Cooper was a bad boy too! He had some great songs during and after Con-Funk-Shun

@ DullardGuy. I agree to some deree about Michael Cooper being the voice of Con funk shun... Just take another listen to some of the other songs led by Felton Pilate.... Love shine, Make it last... etc... But MC was definitely the man in the latter years of Con funk shun.

I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Cooper a few years ago,when Con Funk Shun played at Indiana Black Expo. I did volunteer work for IBE at the time as I had for the previous 6 years. It was my job to make sure the music acts were checked into their hotel rooms. I have met quite a few.....Patti Labelle,O'Jays,Dramatics,etc and I have NEVER,I repeat NEVER met a nicer person than Michael Cooper. Close 2nd is L.J. Reynolds

Did C-F-S ever acknowledge their debt to the Ohio Players on this song? The whole "shoop" background is almost exactly from "I want to be Free" by OP. Also, the lead singer in this song emulated "Sugar's" vocal style through part of the song. Hope they gave attribution!
