  • THis WASNT MILGRAM, IT WAS BICKMAN.

  • It's Bickman (1974) study not Milgram

  • Comment removed

  • I woulda thought you were just a lazy guy who liked telling people what to do. It was nothing like thee Milgram experiment in my eyes. I would have liked to have heard the people's comments to you as well. What was the point? For fun?

  • this is a good simpilified version of the experiment =)

  • Brill vid

  • this is the gay remix of the song. it sounds like shit.

  • Not exactly the Milgram. Also, the behavior of the administrator changed when assuming the role of athoritarian. He was much more persistent.

  • This was Bickman, not Milgram.

  • Sorry but this is not the Milgram Experiment. Basic difference is that picking up trash has no real moral implications whereas given someone a lethal electric shock has strong moral implications. This is an important difference as the main conclusion of the experiment was the people will violate their own morals when instructed to do so by an authority figure.

  • I agree. Milgram used the shock experiment. This experiment, in which members of the public were asked either to pick up a bag left on the ground or give a coin to a stranger for a parking meter was done by Bickman.

  • Unless you're morally opposed to picking up other people's litter.

  • @naflodi

It does show however a willingness to 'defer to authority' But agreed that there is no moral impetus or outfall...

A more convincing experiment would have taken 10 seconds to design!

  • wasnt this bickman's experiment? milgram did the teacher/learner electrocution experiment

  • it would have been better in a hallway. your body positioning and whether you are facing the people you are talking to or walking after them or standing to the side of them has a lot to do with it. if you were in a hallway it would be more consistent. also i would have liked it better without the music

  • the idea is ok but this experiment sucks.

Guys should read some methodology before making such things. There are to many confounds which influence the dependent variable, so no result interpretattion is possible

  • nah mate

  • Interesting! With no apparent authority status, there are factors influencing the results. The tone used, facial expressions and your look in general are some of the elements that can affect the results. Let's say If you dress like a homeless person, you won't have that much credibility and less people will obey imo. I should experiment too ;)

  • All I could think of while watching this was:

    "Pick up that can."

  • XD Same here.

  • @zalyster +100000000

  • Milgram's studies have plenty of validatity and are of extreme importance to Psych. He's revloutionary

  • well done, you have gave milgrams study some temporal validity =)

  • very interesting, its funny to see that even the 'civilian' guy can get to a few people. What did you say to them in each case?

  • watched a few of the other versions, do you know you've got a very contagious smile?

  • I just said: "Pick this up and throw it in the trash bin" :-)

  • What version of "stronger" was this? Excellent vid.

  • The orginal version - "Daft Punk"

  • fail.

  • It's great to see something instructive on YouTube for a change, as opposed to some of the drek that gets on here. As a psychology major, I appreciate what you've done here--it's nice to see somebody demonstrating that Milgram's findings are actually relevant in everyday society. You've left off demonstrating his most famous experiment, for obvious reasons. :)
