I would love to see some HQ versions of my fave Nightwish sonmg which is The Escapist.I love this song as well and with Phantom are a few of my faves.
sorry to say but this song dont suit her...this is more rock-metal than she can support.
tarja is 100 times better in some songs than annete ,but.....this is annetes song.she feels it alot more and support it better without having tarjas voice.
and just to feed the trols.if i had a choise i would take annete ith tarjas voice.
Tarja's voice is one of the few who can even interpret this song on the original notes and Tarja's voice made this beautiful balad what it is today.
I honestly think that almost all songs ever sang by this woman are near impossible to be performed better by anyone else.
PS: "Your beauty cascaded on me" blended with Marco's cry and Emppu's wailing guitar is an anthological piece of talent and feeling, makes my hair raise each time.

Now, Tarja's voice improved a Lot in terms of agility!
I think that on 2004 she was still adapting her voice to a more rock style, and on This video it is still very Legato, thats why its strange for you the way that she fits her notes to the music tempo, but thats common in Classical singing, and that doesn't make this one a bad Performance!

This year i've heard Tarja singing dramatic soprano arias from Strauss and Bellini with greatest ease. I've heard her also live during some pretty wicked powerbeltings on Wishmaster or In the heat of the night. How can she struggle here.. anyway forget it

What you said about Anette reaching high notes does not make sense. Anette is almost an octave lower and her "yep yeps" are made because of bad breathing technique.
I can engage in a serious argumentation related music theory and execution but as many times before, it's for nothing.

Good example. Too bad there is not a single quality recording of Stargazers, i've heard it live and it's beautiful.
Actually the best example of great rhytmicity in the voice is good ol' Wishmaster /watch?v=iCU5uUVE6DM
At around 1:40 and onward, it's that good it gives the impression of scat singing :)
