  • He is NOT benching 6 plates . He's benching 3 plates a side . No one who knows anything about power lifting refers to 3 plates a side as 6 plates . 6 plates per side means 585 pounds . That said , his partial reps are OK . He is strong but would benefit more strength-wise by actually having the bar touch his chest . He could probably do 350-370 lbs for one rep performed correctly .

  • I am 38 and have lifting for 19 years , 8 years seriously and NO ONE EVER DESCRIBES 315 AS 6 PLATES !!!! Semantics . His form is not great at all . He is stronger than me I would guess . I press 275x12 and 295 x8 with perfect form . 2-3 second negatives to my chest , no bounce and just short of lockout . IMO that is the best form for overall development . Never left a weight out or sweat on the equipment but thanks for the lesson Ronnie .

The only bodybuilder I know of who benches this way is Mr O Jay Cutler who stops 2-3 inches short of his chest and stops 2-3 inches short of lockout . He believes pec injuries most often occur at the bottom
