  • im on the best shrooms ever. i can see...

  • This album is really the only 1 I can identify of the T O P of my head just hearing snippets of it

  • the artwork was astounding for a 13 year old suburban whiteboy but the music { and in a Silent Way] were an entrance

  • So this is where Radiohead got their idea for "The National Anthem".

  • @mrhumpydumpyable Radiohead also copied the beginning of miles runs the vodoo down on their song Kinetic

  • @mrhumpydumpyable Good artists getting ideas from good artists. Good stuff

  • who does the artwork for this album cover?

  • @jimmy0412 Mati Klarwein. In May 2004, the album having reached one million sales, the Klarwein family received a platinum record on behalf of Mati. (Mati passed away in 2002.)

  • @jimmy0412 yea, man they dont do artwork like this anymore.

  • @ZanzibarJose

    damn straight

  • @jimmy0412 BUT if you need something like this done. I know a guy I went to high school with who can do this psychadelic stuff.

  • Miles Davis: baddest Muthha Fukka ever!!!

  • @botvinnik64 you are right my freind

  • @botvinnik64 you are right my friend

  • 3 people are deaf

  • this piece has a cosmic looseness to it.

  • I just picked up the 180g double LP as a grad present for my bro. He picked up trumpet because of Miles and I wanted to congratulate him accordingly.

  • I got a feeling this whole album revolves around a single chord i dunno but it's fucking great....

  • I'm kind of frustrated that I don't understand this at all.

  • love this album

  • i can't believe this whole thing is improvised.

    Miles you genius

  • The perfect soundtrack for Interzone

  • THIS IS MY GROOVE !!!! THANK U

  • Awesome

  • I believe it is really a stretch for the typical human mind to comprehend infinity. Time bids us all yet time,Time was,heh..Time Is..Ha! And Time cannot extend beyond itself unless you transcend it, which sounds paradoxical but it actually is a very clever way to make us buy more watches.Any way , when you get there call me uo , you can sleep in the guest room and we'll work out your physical concerns as need be.

  • one of my favorite albums of all times.

  • This album blew my mind when I first got it 11 years ago and it still blows my mind every time I listen to it.

  • My favorite tune on this album, gives me goosebumps ! its just so friggin cool and spooky ! Timeless jazzy jammin' ! Great music gets me going without any other form of stimulation. Pure Magic !

  • A huge influence on Jerry Garcia...he (Jerry) is quoted as saying Bitches Brew helped shape his musical style...this is the ultimate improvisation...thanks for posting!!!!

  • @1keithk1

We won't hold that against Miles.

  • got this on vinyl... for 2 dollars

  • Thanks for posting this one, PerryCoxPF93. I bought this record album when it was first released and have always loved it. Sadly, I no longer have the album or even a turntable to play it on. It was great fun listening again to a song from one of the greatest albums ever released.

  • i don't understand this non sense.

  • @billjesusgates Well, fuck you.

  • two people missed the like button.

  • i have the original double LP...

    ... just sayin

  • Really nice! I'm proud of listening this and not justin Shit bieber.

  • It's always seemed odd to me just how alike jazz and progressive metal are. They have their obvious differences at first glance, but they both seem to respect the same principles - odd, yet freeflowing structure, irregular time signatures, experimentation, and an everchanging sound. I think jazz and progressive metal fans worldwide should unite and create the "Metallic-Jazz Committee". Or the "Our-Artists-Actually-Make-Music-For-The-Purpose-Of-Making-Music Association".

  • @davethehostage Lol, can't be that wrong, I also adore Progressive Metal and Jazz, there should be way more bands that combine Jazz & Metal! (for example "Suspyre - Reign", "Atheist - Elements" or "Demonlord - Kill the Lord", these songs are what I'd like to hear so much more often)

  • @davethehostage well, thats not just progressive metal, but a lot of the more complex progressive rock bands, like The Mars Volta, who by the way take huge amounts of influence from Miles Davis.

  • Regardless if I have a wide range in musical tastes, ahem...metal, I still love every second of this. I don't know between this and Mahavishnu Orchestra, I'm going to go with this for now.

  • ……. Thanks for the heads-up, Iris, & thank YOU, PerryCoxPF93, for the upload. Anyone who wants to learn more about the artist who painted the LP cover, go to Mati Klarwein Art (dot) com (slash) en (slash) surrealist (dot) htm … Awesome œuvre of psychedelic art he left us. Enjoy y'all ~ (•8-D

  • I prefer atonal death metal over this.

  • man i love this album. It's like a musical journey through space and time!

  • I GOTTA get it on vinyl !

  • This is what I zone-out on, with the lights off ! "Bitches Brew" is stress relief for your mind !

  • wow, nothing happens for 7 minutes. really amazing.

  • Smoke good weed and you'll be with miles in the sky

  • The Best!

  • holy fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i started listening to this back in 1998, in high school.... havent heard it for 3 years, and I still know all of the changes.

  • it sounds like the music they play during a seventies crime move. Or maybe during a chase scene in a charlie bronson film

  • Ignore my earlier comment,i see it's split in 3.

  • Im listening to this track right now,i must say the version im listening to is substantially longer,20 mins to be exact. I have the 4 disc set, brilliant worth owning.

  • This masterpiece evokes me some chase in the savannah ! Miles is a Genius.

  • I played this entire album on repeat for my son when he was in a coma....he made it!

    thank u Miles!!!

  • @mzraechris wow thats great, i'm honestly happy for you and i don't even know you!

  • @aimjeezy that is what you call...UNIVERSAL LOVE. thank u! keep it going.

  • @mzraechris

    Wow, that's amazing!

Wonder what the hospital nurses made of your behaviour?

Dumb nurses I know would have thought it it child abuse!

  • @Drblooter99 They didn't understand the power of music...but the power of love overrides everything ;o) thank you for responding!!!

  • @mzraechris WOW that's awesome!

  • @mzraechris I'm very happy that he made it, but I have to say... that method sounds very interesting.

  • @mzraechris Now THATS a miracle.

  • @mzraechris I'm happy for you. I'm glad his music helped.

As Albert Ayler once said, "Music is the Healing Force of the Universe." I'm glad that was so here.

  • @mzraechris Its comments like these that make me realize why I want to be a composer.

  • miticooo....quando l'ho aquistato ,sul piatto non riuscivo a mettere altro...suono free..mistico...realizzato con musicisti irripetibili...UNICO:..

  • Duke Ellington said the only kind of music he was interested in was music that was 'beyond category'. Bitches Brew is beyond category. miles said the only you come up with something new in music is if you take the best musicians around and make them play beyond what they know. Play outside of their comfort zone. Many of the musicians on this session said the only time they knew what was going on was when Miles was playing. Teo Macero's post production is as pivotal as Miles horn..

  • this is not great, or challenging, or revolutionary music, which it certainly was. I just don't see how it can be called "fusion"

  • I've never really understood the fusion label as applied to this album. when I think of fusion I think of bands like return to forever and the mahavishnu orchestra, with complex time signitures and complex arrangements. this music it totally unlike that. and while it had electric instruments and launched the careers of numerous fusion legends such as chick corea and john mcglaughlin, I see it as the logical extension of his freer and modal sounding 2nd quinted. which is in no way to say that

  • This is like a Big Bang of music.

  • I'm 29 and just listened to Bitches Brew for the first time. Honestly a musical reawakening for me. Listening to anything else in my album collection is totally redundant now with very few exceptions. This album made everything else sound a little worse, if that makes sense. Totally life changing. Why didn't I listen to this 10 years earlier?

  • i know what you mean, but i even prefer "in a silent way" !

  • @seign

I love your comment here, seign. I had kind of the same experience with Miles Davis, years ago. Music without compromise.

I've had the experience in classical music with Bach, Chopin, and Wagner..and a few others.

  • @seign You probably wouldn't have liked it then, if you were listening to as much Rush as I was!

  • @seign lol i just listened to it for the first time and im 17! LUCKY MEEE

  • @seign ha I feel you man, almost all music prior to the late 70's is pure music. no auto tune or shallow lyrics about stupid bullshit. this was when music was about emotion, not about business.

  • @seign Because, if you did listen to it when you were 19, you would probably never really got to hear the real, profound, disturbing sound of Bitches Brew. It takes some piece of mind to understand this piece of art ;)

  • @seign

haha cuz i'm 19 and listening to this for the first time. right now. shit goes hard i love it

  • @seign How about even earlier.Talk about life changing. I was fledgling musician with Partridge Family and Jackson 5 records. Then for my 12th birthday, my uncle gave me this.

  • @seign I'm 19 listening to it now =] its genius

  • @seign Try with The Soft Machine's "Third", Gong's "Angel's Egg", John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" or Miles' "Jack Johnson"...congratulations for your reawakening!!!

  • EPIC in so many indescribable ways

  • Davis Podium

    1- Kind of blue

    2- Bitches brew

    3- Birth of the cool

  • that's pretty acurate, but I'll give a special mention for the soundtrack of "ascenseur pour l'échaffaud (stairway to the scafold)"

  • Davis Podium Jazz 1. Kind of Blue 2. 'Round About Midnight 3. Birth of the Cool 4. Relaxin' Fusion 1. In a Silent Way 2. Bitches Brew 3. On the Corner 4. Jack Johnson
  • This song...reminds me...of ex-president..Ronald Reagan's...Trickle Down effect...economic policies..but somehow..i get this.

  • just great, thanks!

  • Hell yeah! I wondered when someone was going to put this up...

  • Love the Bass Clarinet and the low end Holland is holding down....and Miles with some tone row from another planet....too bad this cuts out....

  • the very first "real" band i got into was the mars volta about 6 years ago. opened the doors for me to prog rock and jazz in all of its forms. i love to go back and listen to the contemporaries that influenced my era of music.

  • that great you are into more stuff now. if you don't mind, here are some out there artists you should check out.

    my bloody valentine

    american football

  • Best thing Joe Zawinul ever did.

  • my favorite peice off the set! thanks for the post. If jazz is 3% of total music sales, than miles davis is 2%.

  • thank you :)

  • thanks for posting, its great

  • in one word: AMAZING!!....Joe Zawinul composed this gem...

  • How do you compose improvisational music?

  • Easy. This is really quite structured.

  • Eeehhh, mostly cut up later actually

  • I got the sarcasm.
