This is an awesome video! I'm thinking about getting the hmc150 but can't decide lol! I was looking at the Canon 7D but not sure how zooming it and focusing etc would work on the glidecam.
Problematic... With HDSLR and Glidecams you have to fisically move in and out to focus ... The HMC150 has a superb auto focus but the shallow depth of feel suffers. I also like the look of HDSLR with a nice prime lens.
I think the 5D mkII has autofocus.. not sure.
So get the HMC and the 550D..
Take a look at my OROSMEDIA channel where I have a production music video posted where I used the HMC150 and the smoot shooter rig.
@girotube Thanks for the info :) It seems to be the Panasonic HMC150 that I keep coming back to haha! I'll check out your other channel too :D Thanks again!
@pinoyelvis LOL you don't want to brag but you are actually doing it and comparing your "cheap" camera with this setup, Bravo! LOL Buddy if you cant actually shoot with Stabilizers, don't bother to try to compare your stationary tripot shots with these moving shots on a glidecam. your bragging is over now; Go to my OROSMEDIA channel, look for "REY DEL UNIVERSO" and watch the HMC150 and HD glidecam in action.
PINOY-ELVIS, find a better way to waste your time... OK! So Merry Christmas!
I want a glidecam!! Thanks. Great demo of this. I use a cheaper steadycam like device that doesn't properly stop the walking motion, but gets very good handheld when I'm relatively stable. While I like the HMC 150 my only wish is for a dual card camera that simultaneously records on both cards. I did have card failure for the first time last weekend, in a paying job. But overall the 150 is a workhorse. Where it gets crushed is in low light. The Canon T2i, 7D and 5's are much better.
I want one! Thanks. Great demo of this. The shots where you hold still don't seem particularly any better than my hand held unit with a cheaper grip, but the glidecam does seem to totally eliminate the walking motion.
I'm very new to the video circuit so don't kill me! I was just wondering how you were able to achieve the "glidecam" smoothness? Did you buy some sort of shoulder mount or is that a feature of the camera? BE GENTLE...
The tables/tablecloth look blown out at 2:15. Any ideas why? BTW, I saw your reflection at 2:03 :-)
Good job. Smooth and unlike others, I figured out you were testing it with the shakes, wobbles and zooms. It kept its detail well. What setting were you shooting on?
Well Glad to see that you got the point of the video test!
720p -24 fps -120th shutter speed. Iris open.
The Iris was set to open! for indoors and then moved to an area where over exposure will happen!
The camera was also set to 120th shutter speed... Thats why the panning is sharp but choppy! I like clean frames.. There is sone annoying jetter from youtube streaming.. maybe wrong format!
I downloaded the demo from adobe.. I'm considering getting Premiere pro CS4.. My brother bought the hole Master suite CS4. Maybe I can get a second installation from his account.. aaah!
Just did a very long MP4 with Vegas and the audio is off mmmh! I will try with CS4 when I get this demo installed.
Looks good to me (better than anything I've shot) I've had the camera a year and still learning it. Never went to film school just learned by trial and error. Based on some of the comments I would probably put it in the video or description how you set up the equipment. Otherwise GREAT JOB!
Wow thats such nice work. I just bought a HD 4000 and use a hmc 150and hmc 70u. Would you mind telling me the no. of weight plates that you used to balance the camera and also any other tips on balancing ? I am really struggling now
Use the same weight as the camera.. the camera should be able to do a floating 360..
Balancing the weights is very hard.. keep them spread and not too tight for easy adjust. Also the top base plate needs adjustment.(front heavy, back, left, right, etc..
The up and down motion can be removed by walking like a ninja or using the arm system. On my video there's a little up and down motion from me walking.
Hate the video jitter from youtube! Its not smooth.. But on my computer is fine.
Wuauuuuuu De verdad filmaste con la videocamara AG-HMC150 ? se ve genial!!!, Felicitaciones !!!

I want your camera.
I have a Canon Vixia but this thing spanks mine like a misbehaving teenager.
Even the still frames are great - this camera picks up everything so clearly.

If you pay attention you hijacker parasite.. 0:35 I set the camera down and do a hard zoom then I do hard panning L to R to see how choppy it looks!
Also when I'm in the rooms I go around rocking the camera hard left and right, going up and down.
I've done that IN ALL VIDEOS YOU RETARD, HIJACKING PARASITE.. haha that felt good LOL :p
Look at the other video and you see that I'm rocking the camera hard from left to right.
I know what choppy play back is and you are still nagging.
