you'd don't really need the capo but if you want it to sound just like the ones that you hear on tv/radio or w.e then yeah you'll need it. a capo just raises the pitch of the guitar.

It's a capo and yes, if you want the song to be in the right key. If you play it without (and don't change the tuning) it sounds a little weird, but you still can play it :)

if u mean around 46 secs in the video...it's called palm muting :) u put the palm of ur hand on the strings to mute them while at the same time strumming them.
