I simply play with Tap Jump off . . . Neo here has persuaded me to begin training otherwise.

Yep, you did. You can shield and do Up+B while shielding, with tap jump off, you can't. That's all.

Well, that's what I thought at first, but then I realised I played 5 years with tap jump on in Melee, and it wasn't that bad. xd

Actually, you can do up-b out of shield. But you have to claw the jump button while doing up-b. You can still jump out of shield, just not with the control stick. ;] But it is a hell of a lot easier with tap jump.
