Well, thanks to your explanation, I have cleared a lot of doubts I had About my PS3, I knew about the Power of The Cell Broadband Processor, and The Blu-Ray Player drive, But I never knew about the 15 Blade fan. That is a pretty big Fan, thanks for clarifying that, my Aliegience rests with my Playstation 3, even though mine is at Sony Getting fixed. My fault. I broke it.
The PS3 has one core, it has 8 SPE's (Synergistic Processing element) , it however will emulate cores, definitely helping the workload and one PPE Power Processing Element .each SPE count towards things like PhysX graphics, REAL TIME data, etc. the PS3 has extremely HIGH PERFORMANCE RAM so with the limit of 512 MB it allows about the same Performance as 4-8 gbs of DDR3.
I heard an xbox fanboy say that xbox's graphix is 2x better because he said the ps3 did not have a GPU (graphix processing unit) . If the ps3 did not have a GPU there will be no graphix so there will be no games. Such a dumbass!

Actually the SPEs are not seperate cores. The PS3 technically has 1 core compared to the 360s 3 cores. (Ihave a ps3, that was not a degrading comment).
i have a launch 60gb ps3 and the hot air escapes from the right side and the back of the console. i also have 2 40 gb and the units as you said sucks air from the sides and blows it at the back

@tazss159 neither max ps3. uncharted uses 80 percent of the cpu at certain points in the game, as you may know uncharted 2 is beyond belief. killzone uses more of the ps3 than most games but no where near the amount of uncharted. uncharted 2 uses 25gb of space on a single layer blu-ray. blu-ray disks can be up to 75gb in size. so there is definately alot of space left for the ps3 to be maxed. 20 percent of the cpu and 50gb of space, does that clear it up for you

they didnt max it, they reached around 80 percent at cetain points. like when the building falls over or explosions and stuff like that. the guy was talking about the contrast between the first and second game saying that this one in comparison uses the ps3 in a larger way. it is very hard to max the cpu on the ps3. i doubt even god of war could do it. youll know if games are maxing the cpu as you will start to see bad frame rates. most of the time thats due to bad developing

That because Video Game Designers Make their Games specifically to a Current Console Hardware Which doesn't Change till Next Console.. And Highly Optimize it. That's Why Consoles Games Run at Stable 60 frames a Second. While in PC Format They Cant Optimize to a One type of Hardware Because Their are many types of CPU's,GPU"s,Ect...But if they only Optimize the Game for a Current PC System I bet it would Run at Stable 60 FPS and even better.

@Assblaster93 u do know that the rsx is basically a 7800gtx right? and the cores dont work like that it basically it has 8 sub processors (spe) (1 is turned off tho and 1 is locked to the os) so it has 6 usable sub processors which process the data then sends it to the main processor (spu) to finish everything out and mold everything together, and wtf are you talking the dedicated ram? theres 2 things of ram 256 for the cell and 256 for the gpu that can be shared if needed

people who put this graphics card along side a normal nvidia graphics card. you cant really do that. because the playstation 3s graphics card (chip) has been remodified. so its going to be alot better than the nvidia 7800GTX.

wasn't also the Playstation 2 not based on a General Purpose processor? I think it was a DSP right ? I don't understand instead how different is the graphics on a PS3 from, let's say, a graphic card on a Desktop PC. Is it integrated on Chip, which interface it uses instead of the PCIe ?
@starpier its the architecture dude, dont get into GPP's and DSP's yet, just understand the difference in architectures, start with RISC vs CISC then move on, and pcie is just how the gpu connects to the mainboard, the gpu is technically stil "integrated on a chip" even when it connects through pcie pcie is just a way of communication, its a type of bus research bus as well

DSP and RISC processors like the MIPS instead are great for consoles, the first Playstation used a MIPS processor for example. the PS2 uses a custom embedded uP called Emotion Engine instead.

hi ihav the 40gb and 60gb and ive taken them apart, i am confirming to every1 that this dude is correct, the 40gb has much better cooling mainly due to the fabrication process of the cell goin from 90nm in the 60gb to 65nm in the 40gb and THERE IS ONLY 1 BIG FAN for those thinking there is more.

ther are no memory cards fo the ps3. u save ur photos, game saves videos etc to the built in hard drive. if ur about to get a ps3 wait till friday. an 80 gb ps3 is replacing the 40gb version.

Actually the "Cell Broadband Engine" has 9 cores, 1 PPE and 8 SPEs. Although the PS3 only has 1 PPE and 7 SPEs, 1 of those SPEs are dedicated to running the OS so only 6 SPEs are avaliable to game developers and 1 PPE. As for RAM, RAMs sole purpose is not for resolutions but to temporarily store data. Also, the PS3 does not intake air through the top (right side), it blows out air, why else would it be hot! Although I do have the 60GB.

they didnt max it, they reached around 80 percent at cetain points. like when the building falls over or explosions and stuff like that. the guy was talking about the contrast between the first and second game saying that this one in comparison uses the ps3 in a larger way. it is very hard to max the cpu on the ps3. i doubt even god of war could do it. youll know if games are maxing the cpu as you will start to see bad frame rates. most of the time thats due to bad developing

@tazss159 no they didnt, maybe the way they had the spus execute the stuff, but they can always change the code and optimize, they said uncharted 1 maxed it out, now theyre saying uncharted 2 maxed it out, the ps3 doesnt have a max that anyone has been able to see or calculate yet

@danteindarkness they have not used 100% of the ps3s power as they can still change the code and optimize everything and bigger blu ray discs dont mean anything to power it just has to do with how much data is stored on the disc, and just cause they come out with a 400gig disc doesnt mean the ps3 can use it, the blu ray drive is dual layer only, and dual layer discs are only 50gigs, so its not gonna happen

@tazss159 no they havent, maybe with the engine theyre using in the state its in is using as much power as they can get with their engine, but theres always optimization and recoding, the ps3 is not going to be truly maxed out for a very long time, theyve only used about 30% of its power as stated by analysts and researchers whereas the 360 actually has been maxed

That's Why Consoles Games Run at Stable 60 frames a Second. Yes I know most games don't run at 60 Stable Frames A Second for most of them they run at 28.6 fps average. And for most of the time I don't Research because I know things and with Good Knowledge I can figure out things or just post a comment and get some info from other people.

look umm pros and cons here for ps3 and xbox 360( ps3 stronger proccer and stronger con when it gets the ylod and your out of warranty it costs $150 to fix it and the warranty is 1 year long) (xbox360 pro great system costs to get online no wifi and it dose get the prod but the gpu and cpu is 65nm so its better and its esesier to repair then the ps3) i hope i hellped but i recommended ps3.

You google the chip and count the cores on the picture man!
There is possible to program the dedicated ram to be one single load.
Also you didtn mention that RSX is the finest Gpu in terms of Colour processing.
It actually suport four times as many colours as any 7 or 8000 Nvidia gpu cards. :)

@Assblaster93 u do know that the rsx is basically a 7800gtx right? and the cores dont work like that it basically it has 8 sub processors (spe) (1 is turned off tho and 1 is locked to the os) so it has 6 usable sub processors which process the data then sends it to the main processor (spu) to finish everything out and mold everything together, and wtf are you talking the dedicated ram? theres 2 things of ram 256 for the cell and 256 for the gpu that can be shared if needed

i have a 60gig 1, i dont think that it is true. i believe the top is just outtake.
people who put this graphics card along side a normal nvidia graphics card. you cant really do that. because the playstation 3s graphics card (chip) has been remodified. so its going to be alot better than the nvidia 7800GTX.
I dont know myself what that graphics card is like. as i own the nvidia 8800gt

wasn't also the Playstation 2 not based on a General Purpose processor? I think it was a DSP right ? I don't understand instead how different is the graphics on a PS3 from, let's say, a graphic card on a Desktop PC. Is it integrated on Chip, which interface it uses instead of the PCIe ?

@starpier its the architecture dude, dont get into GPP's and DSP's yet, just understand the difference in architectures, start with RISC vs CISC then move on, and pcie is just how the gpu connects to the mainboard, the gpu is technically stil "integrated on a chip" even when it connects through pcie pcie is just a way of communication, its a type of bus research bus as well

For that is a circuit physically produced on the same silicon wafer of the motherboard. and I know what a bus is, i am an exam away from getting an electronic engineering degree, maybe i could teach you a thing or two as well

@thrasha666 i dont mean to be bitchy or mean, but i mean the first thing they teach you when you study Systems Electronics is about the differences between RISC, CISC and DSP processors. when i talk about General Purpose processors i could be more specific and say x86, computers. DSP and RISC processors like the MIPS instead are great for consoles, the first Playstation used a MIPS processor for example. the PS2 uses a custom embedded uP called Emotion Engine instead.

hi ihav the 40gb and 60gb and ive taken them apart, i am confirming to every1 that this dude is correct, the 40gb has much better cooling mainly due to the fabrication process of the cell goin from 90nm in the 60gb to 65nm in the 40gb and THERE IS ONLY 1 BIG FAN for those thinking there is more.

Actually the "Cell Broadband Engine" has 9 cores, 1 PPE and 8 SPEs. Although the PS3 only has 1 PPE and 7 SPEs, 1 of those SPEs are dedicated to running the OS so only 6 SPEs are avaliable to game developers and 1 PPE. As for RAM, RAMs sole purpose is not for resolutions but to temporarily store data. Also, the PS3 does not intake air through the top (right side), it blows out air, why else would it be hot! Although I do have the 60GB.
