  • brings back sop memories

  • COOL AS SONG

  • BAD ASS FINISH!!

  • Great song! :)

  • Hard to believe this was 30 years ago now.

  • Funny how the past doesn't change. Its 2012 now, and this is still the song that made me one of their fans. Weird how clear its limelight by Rush and Gloria for U2 ...but I did have Go Go Girls and Cindyer as well....as well as others....

  • wow sudiviones

  • This song is amazing. It's like he KNEW what I was going to think and decided to be good at it. Bueno

  • aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye thanks man SUBDIVISIONES i'm in the LIMELIGHT for a split second like .09-.010.5 i'm there ican see myself i can hardly type,,,what a great song to see myself in concert,,

  • As someone with children I am extremely disappointed in so many of the so-called adults who leave utterly crude remarks all over Youtube. For all you young folks here, rise above these dolts, flag their comments as spam and don't bother engaging the morons.

  • i love seeing olds guys argue with teens....no matter what a teen does its either..."kids today dont know good music" or "they dont understand complex music" or g"go listen to that justin beaver kid" haha im 30 and just started enjoying rush, always heard of em never listened and its freat, i just got the back catalouge, and if i old wanker told me i cant listen to it...ill punch em square in the nutbag scrotie flange of his and say "hey..hey..old cunt..you dont know shit...

    thanks for reading!

  • good bless the airfix cage..............!

  • Just one thing: I'm 14 and I've been growing up listening to Rush, thanks to my brilliant father. And so what that I like fucking good music? Am I a stupid person watching to their shows, listening to their musics and going to their concerts? I don't believe that, instead you guys are enjoying that a little of today's generation have some fucking good music taste, you are fucking complaining that we are, suddenly, a "thief" of your old generation? Oh my God.

  • 34 people don't have reproductive organs. How you could dislike this...

  • why do I have a feeling that the people of my generation who listen to this kind of music is going to be in the middle-upper class in 10 years?

  • @MrNerd314159 hahahahaha... interesting comment~

  • I've been listening to Rush since they first came out. Even with original drummer John Rutsey I thought that they were the freshest, rockiest power trio around. Later, I thought that the "progressive" label killed them, They were a rock band- period. They should have never tried to convince themselves or anybody else otherwise

  • @dblthnk02 Rock bands don't write songs like La Villa Strangiato.

  • @YouGottaFaxe This one did! Like I said before, Rush veered off into the "progressive" genre way too often for my taste. But "La Villa Stangiato" does rock. It even has a sense of humor: the "monsters!" theme is straight out of Bugs Bunny's "industrial" theme.

What made "Limelight" and everything else off of Moving Pictures so great is that they returned to hard rock as the foundation for the progressive: that's Rush at their best.

But I still love their first album, too

  • Best drummer in d world period

  • @1lavorde No drummer with a matched grip could be the best in the world. Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Dave Garibaldi, etc used the traditional grip, and they were the best because of it.

Btw, most of the best drummers from the early rock years, e.g. Cozy Cole, Mel Taylor, Mitch Mitchell, etc. used the traditional grip

  • @dblthnk02 wrong. you cant even compare a drummer who uses traditional to one that uses match, since they place completely different styles. and neil uses traditional grip on ALOT of his songs. but just cause someone uses match doesnt make them any worse than someone using traditional.

  • @fasionroadkill Neil later learned the traditional grip, and he is probably better for it. But I am talking rock drummers: some used traditional grip, and some did not. Look at two similar-genre drummers Charlie Watts and Ringo Starr. Watts with his traditional grip was SO much better even though what he was doing was similar to Ringo.

And look at modern drummers: most grip the sticks like a pair of goddamned tennis rackets and proceed to club their drums to death.

    Such crap

  • @dblthnk02 I'll agree with you about the modern drummers, most of them just play fast as they can and they think they're the greatest. its sad that it's what is popular nowadays. along with people just preessing buttons on a computer to create drum sounds.

  • @fasionroadkill I don't know about them playing as fast as they can, more like as HARD as they can. No finesse at all. Even the country guys: it's all boom-crack boom-boom-crack loud as hell.

And the sampled drums are indeed a travesty, but at least one can actually turn them the frick down

  • the shoulder pads must give him extra shredding power.

  • Grat song and yes the best drummer ever

  • RUSH Rocks!

  • What a voice...

  • this is some good music, i think this band is better than zeppelin...Their not as good as sabbath or yes though,,but they are some incredible musicians..

  • erection.

  • Nasty

  • I saw Rush live in concert for the 2112 tour. I enjoyed it tremendously. I was 16 at the time.

  • rock n roll hall of fame can go fuck themselves!! com on another year no RUSH, kiss, or the scorpions wtf?

  • THAT is so badaaaaaasssssss.....!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favorite song

  • This has got to be one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen

  • @satchvanjohnson41: Go stick you dick in a box fan, you fucking pedophile.

  • @Tarck452 Uhhhhh... yeah...

  • @OVSOTBN86 i'm 100% with you on this! i'm proud to say that my 15 & 17 year old absolutely LOVE classic rock! so, rock on kiddo!

  • i grew up listening to RUSH. and now i got my kids listening to it. my son wants to play rock n roll. they already have a drum set. next is guitars for xmas. i luv all types of music but this always takes me back to the good days.

  • The best part 0:00 to 4:53.... And neil peart wearing peewee hermans vest & bowtie lol rush ftw

  • IM 11 and every1 sayin rush is gay and im FUCK OFF Rrush is da bomb not a bunch of doped up niggas

  • rush is the best

  • I am only 19 weeks old and I love this stuff!!

  • I love how they sound EXACTLY the same on album as they do live :D

  • i have one of those cd protection cases to put in your car... you can put like a hundred cds in there, but it's empty cause the only cd i have in my car is the mp3 cd with all my rush songs on it in my cd player. in my car it's rush. all rush. all the time. no exceptions!

  • Lady KAKA is better?LMFAO. RUSH is one of the best. The young guys and gals are getting into the music of the past because the music was better. RUSH like you said is timeless!!

  • im gonna wear shoulder pads next time i shred.

  • Neil Peart is a better drummer than you

  • @Mrfishybobboo No she isn't and she won't stand the test of time. In 30 years, people will look back and laugh at how stupid they were for listing to that tramps music. Rush is timeless.

  • @Mstealth89

    Was that a real sentence?

  • Rush is real music. them and Pink Floyd have always been my fav bands.

  • 'Approval seeking cunts' aside, that was simply brilliant.

  • @thailandtim nope, we run our own country now. We still kiss ass to your queen, though. Also, we enjoy maple syrup and the Red-Green show.

  • Just requested this on the radio and the dj went nuts and got all happy and played it.

  • Love Rush, and im not from Canada........Here in the UK we never hear who runs your country.... Is it the French still ?

  • @thailandtim No, it's the Native Indians. ;) No, seriously, it's Neil Peart.

  • Wanna know what's funny? Instead of enjoying this kick ass song, people sit here and bitch about teenagers liking stuff that's before their time. So what? It doesn't matter if your a newborn or 97 years old. People like what they like. So stop fucking complaining. Damn I never thought that YouTube would turn into facebook.

  • @thisismikesweet One of my friends' Moms said that to us because we liked the Doors and Zepplinn but were born in t the Beatles and The Rolling Stone "Get stff for your own age group" OK: Rush & U2

  • @MiriamSPia I think it's so stupid for people to say "your stealing from our generation" just because the younger ones like music of a different era. I think it's great that you young bucks explore the music and genres of times before you. And i'm sure bands like Rush appreciate it too. Don't listen to those idoits-just turn up the RUSH and tell them piss off.

  • PRICELESS........!!!!!!

  • Everybody do a bong hit to this and relive the 80s . Fuck fuck yeah!

  • Rush at their creative peak and Neil was a lot faster back then and his Tama artstars sounded better than those current DWs.

  • Alex is so under-rated. Not saying that Geddy and Neil are over-rated, cause they aren't. Each member of this band is absolutely amazing. I just love everything they do. I admire Alex. I wish I could play like him, or even achieve his sound. So amazing. I love this song so much.

  • I started going to see RUSH in the late 70's and they are the Best ...They slap JAM....

  • This reminds me so much my childhood.

  • やっぱりGeddy Leeはかっこいいなぁ…

  • they're a 3-man-band??

just 'discovered' them and I like it!

  • @0oDaantje12o0

Yup, only 3 men, Geddy Lee slappin' da bass, playing the keyboards with his feet and singing at the same time, Neil Peart, bashing the drums playing like John Bonham and Keith Moon all at once, then Alex Lifeson, so of the icing on the cake. :)

  • @0oDaantje12o0 They have been around since the early 70's, Alex Lifson is a huge guitarist. They have a giant discography if you check them out on Amazon. Great music

  • I would love to have my pick of Alex's gear that he has used over the years.

  • Fuck rap u bitchy teens listen to the kings of rock. if it wasnt for rush and led zepplin or judis of ozzy there would not be rap. rap was invented from the roll the bones rap. so stop ur whining about no music and get a life and listen to ROCK AND ROLL KINGS.

  • poor Alex. Even if he plays solo, no one is interesting it in, everybody is interesting in geddy and ,,slappin' da bass''

  • @wanawjecy Um, you are VERY wrong! There are alot of people interested in Alex Lifeson as a guitarist. That's why he was so under-rated, not because of lack of skill, because close minded people like yourself insist on putting him in a place he doesn't belong-at the bottom. Why do you even listen to Rush? If you feel that way, don't waste your time.

  • 3:17 Tom Hanks on battery.

  • @zuumex omg i totally thought that was tom hanks

  • Man Alex nailed that solo

  • 28 people have to much cum in there ears .

  • "Living in the Limelight, The universal dream For those who wish to seem. Those who wish to be Must put aside the alienation, Get on with the fascination, The real relation, The underlying theme. Living in a fisheye lens, Caught in the camera eye. I have no heart to lie, I can't pretend a stranger Is a long-awaited friend. All the world's indeed a stage, And we are merely players, Performers and portrayers, Each another's audience Outside the gilded cage." Pure Awesomeness.

  • I LOVE that part around 3:40 where Alex goes from the lead, using the tremolo bar, into the arpeggio riff rhythm.... Incredible.

  • sweet fade from lead to rhythm patch!

  • "I love you Man" brought me back to good 'ol rock and roll, now I can't stop listening to RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I get goosebumps everytime I hear the solo! Rush is the only band that causes me to get goosebumps when I listen to their music. They are so fucking good. Alex is a straight god, I don't care what people say

  • Rush has such a rich sound even thought there's only Geddy, Alex and Neil. In so many of their songs it would seem that one would think there are more musicians. However, it's always just them. This really shows what talent they all have!! I LOVE RUSH!!!!!! A THUMBS UP AND FAVED! AWESOME PERFORMANCE!

  • Rush; a canadian band of three guys, simple: vocals, bass, guitar & drums, and is the best of ever I´ve seen on rock music. live forever for Rush

  • @Count73 -- I agree with you! Rush is one of my favorite bands!! Amazing talent and performance! Peace2U, Alex

  • ...and yes, I know he uses the wammy bar before anyone tries to correct me!!!! :-)

  • Amazing song!!!! My phone ring tone!!!!

Wish Lifeson was using a Les Paul so he could make it sound as dirty as Geddy's Rick. I like it dirty!!!! :-)

  • 28 People are stupid enough to miss "Like" button..

  • notice how Lee isnt autotuned?

  • Remember when you had to know how to sing to become singer/musician?

  • @gkc25 TELL ME ABOUT IT,,????? JEEEZZZ,,THESE KIDS TODAY HAVE NOT A CLUE ON WHAT TALENTED MUSIC WAS!!!! THANK GOD FOR THE CLASS OF 1986,,OR I'D HAVE GO SHOOT MYSELF!!!

  • @EXTIQUE And the class of 1982, we rocked, too! Been to roughly 17 concerts in my 47 years. But the 4 RUSH shows were the best. They need to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame, or I'm gonna' have to shoot myself as well!!

  • @82screamer AMEN MY FELLOW 80'S BROTHER!! GOD DID THE 80'S KICK ASS OR WHAT?? AND THE GIRLS,,MAN DO I MISS THOSE JORDACHE,,SASOON,AND LEE HUGGER JEANS ON THE GIRLS OF OUR DAY!! BUT ALL IN ALL I KNOW YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN BY "THE LAST GOOD DECADE OF MUSIC,,MOVIES,,AND TV SHOWS!!" GOD I STILL MISS MIAMI VICE!!, THUMBS UP TO YOU BROTHER!! GOD BLESS THE 1980'S!! WE RULED!! REMEMBER WHEN YOU HAD TO ACTUALLY HAVE REAL TALENT TO GET A RECORD DEAL,,,MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED?? THE CLASS OF 1986 RULED!!!

  • @EXTIQUE I have the guitar intro to Limelight as the ringtone on my phone. But no one calls me much anymore because I usually just let Neil rip that intro everytime it rings and forget to answer. And I'm with you man, good lord, I had a gorgeous chick with Jordache skin tight jeans, high heels and BIG hair! Cruisin' in a '83 Camaro with RUSH, or AC/DC, or Boston, or.........cranked up so loud it made her boobs vibrate. Literally!! How did I get so old? Thank God for RUSH on YouTube!

  • @82screamer besides the fact i'm also a huge neil peart fan as well,,when signals came out in 1982,,that was the "signal to me that these guys kicked serious tailfeathers!! i now own behind the lighted stage,,the R30 concert, and numerous mini concerts rush has released over the past years! nice to meet your acquaintence,,TOLEDO,OHIO,,CLASS OF 1986 HERE MAN!! want to add you to my friends list!!! get back to me a.s.a.p.!!! another rush fanatic!!! :) :)

  • @EXTIQUE im so happy my dad listined to good music, or I would be like every one else im my school, and I would HATE that.

  • @gkc25 I guess you're making commentary on Geddy's singing ability? I would assume you are comparing his lyrical talent to the "rock singers" of the past decade or so that scream angry and inaudible crap that has no meaning? Yes, I remember when you had to know how to sing, and actually tell a story. And if there's EVER been a better drummer than Neil Peart, well then....oh nevermind, there hasn't been anyone close. Good observation! Back then, singing was an art form, not screaming trash.

  • @82screamer what I meant was "Nowadays there are only singers with machines by their side".

  • you go Alex

  • Lifeson crushes this live. Awesome use of delay at the end of the solo when he kicks back into the chorus. Gets me everytime.

  • 1000 years their shall be legends of of ye old rush concerts and we are the lucky people to be alive during their time

THIS BANDS MUSIC SHALL LIKE ON FOREVER

  • lifeson is a beast jamming this patch cords

  • Happy Birthday Alex!

  • So fucking tired of supposed teenagers wanting credit for listening to good music. No one is gonna kneel down and draw a golden star on your sad faces, you approval seeking cunts.

  • @Cloudofthorns How dare you, don't thumbs up this guy. I'm 20 years old but I think we should praise and encourage kids to listen to things like this because I don't know if you realize it or not GOOD MUSIC is slowly fading away completely. We should do everything we can to help save the music industry if possible. Though I'm afraid the world was way different back then and may never be as great as it was again.

  • @Cloudofthorns Im so sick of fake people like you who are so jaded and hateful you cant see the love of music no matter the age beyond your own jaded cut nose. Your the one looking for credit, its just 2 bad your ego lies 2 you by telling you your better, forgetting to tell you your better than no one.

  • @Cloudofthorns I was completly ignored in the 90ths when I was a teenager listening to Rush most of my friends were listening to other crap. But I did not listen to seek approval I listened because I actually enjoyed it and still do.

  • @Cloudofthorns Spoken like a true approval seeking cunt.

  • @jasonburtonawesome More plainly: whatever the genre, videos of great classics are now plagued by the omnipresent comments of the typical teenagers who go "oh I am just 14 yrs old but I'm proud of listening to this music unlike my retarded m8s who like bieber and gaga". Well, guess what, if you really enjoy this music more than that pop trash why are you asking for a big e-applause? You're just having fun after all.

Hopefully now even americans can understand the message I'm trying to convey.

  • Comment removed

  • @jasonburtonawesome for the same reason why you don't stop concerning yourself with the way I act. You are clearly incapable of writing something coherent or insightful, so I'll just stop answering you.

  • @Cloudofthorns so your telling us to not listen to good music? if anything your the cunt, just cause we weren't born in the 70 or 60's doesn't mean we can't listen to older, better music, so i have to suffer and listen to the modern mainstream shit we get and i'm not allowed to listen to rush, fuck off man,i dont want credit and i dont need it, i spend a shit load of money on cd's cause its the music i love and listen to, i play guitar, and i dont give a fuck if im "cool" because of it

  • @filter1996 To be fair though, that isnt at all what he said. He meant he doesnt like that people who claim to be young and listen to Rush shouldnt constantly bring it up. Frankly, no one cares what an individuals age is. It doesnt matter.

He is just annoyed with comments saying "DERP IM 14 AND I LISTEN TO RUSH DERP! ACCEPT ME!" Of course that is a slightly watered down version, but you get the idea.

No one cares how old you are, and you shouldnt either. It has nothing to do with the music.

  • @sonicismybrawler oh i guess that makes sense, cause i get what he means, i hate people that like bands and show off because their age, and its really with everything, music, sports, even video games

  • @filter1996 Yeah, it is everywhere. I dont know why he even pays attention to it but I guess it is what it is.

  • @Cloudofthorns It must be a bitch to be a bitter old fuck like you that is seeking their own recognition by putting down a generation of people. Enjoy the fact that there are those of EVERY age enjoying the music enough for others to take their time to put music up on YouTube to us ALL enjoy. Thank you Rush and thank you subdivisiones!

  • @Cloudofthorns Wow man, so just cause i'm 15 and i wasn't alive when GOOD music was made all of the sudden i'm an "approval seeking cunt" just 'cause your older than me only you can like them?! that's bullshit! Rush is timeless and instead of being an ass about the teenagers liking the music you should be proud that younger generations enjoy this over the CRAP that passes for "music" today! I cant believe you have the highest rated comment you fucking douche...

  • @OVSOTBN86 So well said. As a 44 year old I was lucky enough to catch the last few years of real music, and I only wish that someone like you could have shared it with me. You're a good guy. We would have had a good time together/ Peace brother. CR

  • @OVSOTBN86 it's not that old it's only from the 80's

  • @OVSOTBN86 Hat tip to you, sir. This generation sucks!

  • @OVSOTBN86 You are deffinetly approving seeking. And tho you might possibly not be a cunt, you are probably stupid. I'm not saying this mainly because what you wrote was stupid (tho it is) it's more because you are 15. and most 15 year olds are stupid. Dw tho, it will probably pass.

  • @OVSOTBN86 Wow ...i love how you fucking showed him the door lol

  • @OVSOTBN86 way to tell him!

  • @Cloudofthorns No one is going to kneel down and draw a golden star on your face for being a dick, either. I wasn't ALIVE at the time of this music. If I was, it wouldn't change my perspective of it because even now I recognize that it's fucking awesome. I don't see how that makes me, or any other Youtuber an "approval seeking cunt". If anything, you're the approval seeking one here for making that comment.

Just be thankful that we don't all listen to rap.

  • @Cloudofthorns

    Relax man

  • @Cloudofthorns go to hell. you probably do the same damn thing so shut the hell up you ungrateful douche. no one gives a shit what you have you say.

  • I'm only an embryo in my mommy and I still appreciate this song. I can't wait for my future daddy to impregnate my mom so I can REALLY tell you how much I like it. RUSH rules!

  • @meximedical tell me where you are..ill make that come true

  • @meximedical That was just creepy....

  • MY DAD IS AWESOME BRINGING ME UP LISTENING TO RUSH - IM 12!! ONLY ANOTHER 2100 YEARS

  • Fuck, I love this song and the whole album since 30 years (???)...it´s brilliant. So many memories...can´t believe that I am so old...

  • that is so kwl. for some of us rock n roll goes on forever. chat me up if u get a chance> julia

  • Gréât band

  • Great video! Even if they never reached up to YES! But still fantastic, and I really enjoyed it!

    Thanks for sharing! :D

  • Thank God for Rush cause if it wasn't for them about 70% of hard rock, metal and Neu Metal wouldn't exist. Specially one of my favorite bands Coheed and Cambria… Thank you Rush!!!

  • @BDogGrizzly & thank King Crimson while ur at it.

  • @xXxWaty well this music seems to make everyone happy so i guess it is gay. very.

  • how could anybody dislike this song?????????????????? oh i guess idiots who walk around with their hats on backwards and their pants around their knees.

  • @Luckysc darkies

  • the greatest three piece band ever. i've been a rush fan from the begining. i love the way their music grows too!! rush rules!! oh yea...i named my yongest son geddy lee, hes 16 now.

  • @msmiztressnblack ..I named my son Alex(unsung hero)..Have another named Gabriel(Peter)..Music can have a binding effect

  • My dad had the Rush Chronicles tape in 95 when i was 15. He would listen to it in the truck and i loved it. When he handed the truck down to me you can bet the tape stayed with the truck! :)

  • @joshuaw33 Your dad's awesome :P

  • I first heard this song in junior high back in 81and I became a Rush and a Hard Rock fan!!!

  • RUSH!

  • A classic...A timeless classic by a timeless band.

  • Best Lifeson solo - this or La Villa Strangiato?

  • Geddy is such a good singer in this video :D

  • domeisher, you have No idea about this. get over it. Rush is a great band and many others too. You are very Raciest . Thats right my favorite singer is Darius Rucker, who is Black and is the best talent in the world.

  • The singers voice is different, which puts some kind of nice and special note to the music. Like.

  • Dude's right. Age don't matter. Good is good. You be 12 or 52. Machaut or Rush or Klingfuckinghoffer.

  • I fucking hate little fucking kids who talk about how old they are and what music they listen to. I don't give a shit, I started listening to this when I was 15, I'm 18, I started listening to rock music later then anyone here, Guarantee it, I don't wanna hear what age you got into it. It's fucking annoying, and as for today's music, fucking deal with it. Oh by the way, you didn't get into it, your parents did. Fucking white people.

  • @domeisher You KNOW that you just did what you are complaining about when you brought up your age, right? And were making fun of those people, right? Just wanted to make sure you weren't an idiot, and I trust you're not.

  • @Lobito91 I brought up the age I started listening to it and my age. And I'm not showing off either, if I could, I would've started listening to this kind of stuff along time ago.

  • @domeisher a little angry are we?

  • @73Treadstone Why is it funny that your 15?

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • so ahead of their time. so awesome.

  • @bulpark333 Bonzo.. really? Sure he was a great drummer, but his technical ability comes nowhere near Peart's. Sure, he is more influential but face the obvious facts, Neil is much more talented

  • @throwsand Actually, Bonzo was really talented too, but his style of playing was a bit more 'loose' than Peart's, so it seems less technical. In fact, if you watch Rush's biography movie "Beyond the Lighted Cage", you'll see Peart talking about Bonzo's and Keith Moon's influence in his playing, plus the fact that in his auddience to Rush, he used many triplets, which were kind of Bonzo's signature trick.

  • @zepedrorock Good info there. Bonzo was also the man who was great at playing "behind the beat" which would give Zep it's edge with that great over the top feel in so many songs. "When the Levee Breaks" is a classic example.

Having said all this....I have no favourites, as each drummer has a different feel, sound and attitude. Love 'em all.

  • They should have gotten more shots of Neil Peart
