@animalcrackers666 According to Dave in an interview 2 things happened. They were a little burnt out from the tight grip that had ensued the recording of CTE. In other words the music was analyzed to the point that there were almost "no flaws" on that album. Secondly he cited Max Norman as the main one who said " The music must stay at This BPM!" Still a great album though. The half step tuning helped the sound I think, plus this was right around the times of one of Dave's "deaths".
