i really need some sort of health coverage, i racked up another $12,000 in medical bills last month on top of the $60,000 i already owe. i need a lot more medical work and test as well.

this is all coming out of my pocket, many specialist wont even see me because i do not have enough to pay them or no medical coverage

I agree something needs to be done to provide more people with affordable health insurance...hopefully the people we elected can come up with something less than The Government completely taking over healthcare!

Siam...that is why we need to get GOVERNMENT OUT of the healthcare industry and allow more competition. That will be the only way to bring costs down. Look at Plastic Surgery which is not covered by insurance....most prices have come down TREMENDOUSLY.

Steeevvyz are you kidding me? If the govt. doesn't have to make a profit, how can private insurers compete with that? Evenentually everyone would be forced (Because there won't be any private insurers left) to be on the Govt. plan. Then to hold down costs, the Govt. can control your very existence such as making SUGAR illegal because diabetes is to expensive to treat. Think with your head man!

Chris..the thing people don't understand is that once this happens....where are they going to draw the line? Will your kids now not be allowed to play sports in schools anymore because the RISK is too high and the injuries could cost more? Because I don't see the difference between "punishing sports players" with punishing fat people that eat carbs.

A goverment program does not NEED to compete, it only need to insure Basic coverage for all, anything more then that can be handled by private markets.

That way a Goverment Public Option insures those that would not otherwise be able to afford it, and still maintains a healthy private marketplace while at the same time making sure those corporations dont overprice too much.

Its simple, it works, and everything else is propaganda.

There is no such thing as a "public option". The word "option" implies some type of choice. I pay for the "public option" whether I choose to be covered by it or not. How is that any kind of option?

The only real change will be higher taxes AND having to pay private insurance premiums to boot. How is this any kind of improvement?
