Yes deregulation is a good thing for America. Hahahahaha. Do you really think these corporations give a fuck about the working man? Do you think they care about health and safety of workers, pollution of a community, following the labor laws and such? Why do you think regulations exist? Because these dumbfuck corporations do shady shit like this!
For a free markets to work you must regulated the big guys to avoid system wide manipulation. (The Glass Steagal Act) Unfortunately our government started deregulating Wall Street and placed more regulations on smaller entities within the market.
i can't believe our government makes the same mistakes over and over. California deregulated energy for Enron and we know what happened. Exporting energy to wonderland, causing blackouts and demand to get as large as 300%. Deregulation can lead to monopolies and no limit to how exspensive energy, water and xbox live can be!
We see time and time again what happens when we give away tax payer money to the "investment class"& "job creators" in another failed attempt at trickle down economic policies.
People have demonized the word change,at this point what else should we do but change? Tax cuts for the middle class (99% of us) NOT for those making over 1 million /year.
At this point tax cuts for the rich is just additional spending, increased Chinese debt, and corporate WELFARE.
HAHA yea deregulation supporters?? What happened? We are in the greatest economic downturn since the great depression, but deregulation is good for the economy...??? WAKE UP PEOPLE. WE HAVE TO REGULATE THESE CROOKS ON WALL STREET OR THEY WILL TAKE EVERYTHING.
So we get deregulation and everyone says: "This is going to be the greatest god damn thing since P.T. Barnum brought us the circus." Well look at the airlines, the oil industry and financial services industry.
Letting these bastards regulate themselves was like putting Vampires in charge of the Blood Bank.
The main schoool thought of capitalism is to eviserate and take down ALL regulations and keep them down and pay for schools and roads with the profits from deregulation... that is a false wet dream republicans have
/The main schoool thought of capitalism is to eviserate and take down ALL regulations and keep them down and pay for schools and roads with the profits from deregulation...//
Um, the 'main school of thought' in this country is Keynesian economics, which has stagnated the economy.
Besides, Austrian and Chicago economics doesn't say roads and schools would be payed from 'profits'. Not anymore than any other private good is payed from 'profits'.
News is slanted, depending on which paper or news station they report for. Ex. - CNN / FOX
I just watched FOX. They had four people to argue the point on credit usery rates, 30%! Many of them actually argued for this, "Free Market Capitolism!" - there mantra. Yet we see what happens when deregulation runs its full course like it has the last 8 years. Enron was the best example of this. If you want to see a good movie I would suggest you to watch -Enron: The smartest guys in the room
deregulation only helps stock holders and the very rich. After deregulation that electrical bill that used to be $150 is now $500 thanks to deregulation. Before Bush land tax in east texas was $600. After Bush became president that land tax is now at $6,000 why why why why?
@TimeWarp66 yet that has been completely debunked by the reality of the situation. Deregulation does NOT lower prices it gives businesses a license to take what they can however they can. This is the reality of the theory.
No it hasn't. Take airline deregulation as a basic example. Even Ralph Nader admitted it was a GOOD thing. More airlines sprang up and prices went down. Same with deregulation of telecommunications.
Businesses cannot take anything by force, only governments can. All a business can do is offer up goods and services you CHOOSE to buy or not.
Taxation however, is a license for the government to take what they can however they can.
@TimeWarp66 - Airlines and telecommunications are poor examples to tout the virtues of deregulation. Airline prices have not gone done and instead they are finding new ways to add profit, checked luggage, etc and service has hit an all time low.
The same with the telecommunications industry, everything is bundled and packaged and sold at high prices with poor quality returned.
Before I entered politics I was in banking and I saw what "competition" really meant.
@TimeWarp66 competition meant a race to the top for the executives and share holders at the expense of the people I was supposed to help. Give back piss poor interest and gouge, gouge, gouge, their wallets.
I left because I saw the economic model of the past thirty years could not sustain itself and I began pushing for real reforms by backing candidates who were going to reign in these corporations.
If you think for one second that private companies can't take anything by force, think again
Deregulation did drive prices down in the airline industry. A 1996 Government Accountability Office report found that the average fare per passenger mile was about 9% lower in 1994 than in 1979. Between 1976 and 1990 the paid fare had declined approximately 30% in inflation-adjusted terms.
Private companies in a free society can't take a thing by force. They can only offer up goods and services you can choose to purchase or not. Governments on the other hand do EVERYTHING by force!
That is simply not true. Payroll taxes actually reduce wages. 15% of your income regardless of how little you make is taken from you by the Federal government. We can raise everyone's wages by abolishing these taxes and programs.
Outsourcing is mainly do to over taxation of business in the United States. It's cheaper for large companies to move their operations to lower tax nations. Deregulation creates economic growth because it removes barriers of entry.
what is "free" market? big companies buying up small ones till its hardly a competitor left n then charge astronomical prices? u got any kind of monopolies commision? who runs the commision? who OWNS ALL us mainstrem news media? Free market? a taxas farmer was banned from declaring that His milk was hormon free monsato can sell their heavily hormon polluted milk to an unaware public see it on u tube
Real Free market is how it was once Not now few individuals now control almost everything
Name ONE deregulation that caused this current mess.
Name ONE deregulation (in the last 7 1/2 years) that caused this MILD economic recession we are in.
Moreover, free-markets DO NOT say they are recession-proof. So, these collapses of in-efficient companies (AIG, the big 3) are a PERFECT indication that the markets are working.
Blaming the economic crisis on deregulation is such a fucking cop-out. The banks would have done the same thing either way (give out the risky loans and hence cause the banking crisis) because the Clinton Administration WANTED and MADE LEGISLATION for them to do it. In fact, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were granted a decreased interest rate from borrowing from the federal reserve so that they could issue out more loans.
Cop out is blaming the blow-out of the global financial system on low wage minorities. They've been pushing dereg since the 70's, not just during Clinton's term. If you quit headbanging, you might notice that ALL the financial institutions have collapsed, not just Fannie and Freddie.
"Cop out is blaming the blow-out of the global financial system on low wage minorities."
Yes. I blame the most of it on policy and deficit. But I don't agree that the loan takers are not to blame AT ALL, even if they are "low wage minorities."
"If you quit headbanging, you might notice that ALL the financial institutions have collapsed, not just Fannie and Freddie."
Of course they all collapsed, they "depend" on each other. The return losses didn't just affect Fan. and Fred.
Banking deregulation supported and authorized by guys like Jim Leach (Republicans for Obama), Rob Rubin (former Clinton´s Secretary of the Treasury and Obama´s advisor) and Lawrence Summers (Obama´s advisor). "Rob Rubin worked hard on this" (Bill Clinton, november 1999)
For the top 5 percent, the Bush tax cuts were very productive. Not so for the rest of us as middle class wage earners actually lost ground in the past 7 and a half years. Moreover, the implicit message of Republican deregulation, 'greed is good', has given us the present financial crisis. At present, the Republican party is entirely reliant on bigotry [ anti-gay marraige referendums and the nasty xenophobia of their immigration policies] and fear.
"For the top 5 percent, the Bush tax cuts were very productive. Not so for the rest of us as middle class wage earners actually lost ground in the past 7 and a half years."
That's why I argue tax cuts should be given to EVERYONE, not just the rich. It's government we need to tax, not rich people.
We should all cry for our country. What does it tell you when this is one of the 2 "best choices" we have? We are witnessing the death of America. Why are both choices connected to the CFR.....AGAIN? Hmmmm
I saw another video today(Oct-18-08), McCain now supports banking regulation. Not only that, he makes himself sounds like the LEADER of the regulation.
Regulations like Fannie & Freddie Treasury guarantee which distorts Housing market so much, federal laws like CRA, lobbies like ACORN, monetary monopoly and manipulation by Federal Reserve... Do you mean that regulation?
hey, it sure helped out lincoln savings and loan. How soon we forget when we keep getting told how afraid we need to be. It's the equivalent of someone saying "whats that!?" and taking your wallet when you turn your head. The only bad thing is that a portion of people in this country are dumb enough to keep voting for the people that take their wallet. Then there is the 1% with the money that will surely vote for and support the thieves because it benefits them.
This guy will stick to his agenda no matter what the consequences. This is the same thought process that got us into Iraq and is killing our economy. When will conservatives realize to open their minds. Things change, we must adapt.
"i don't know much about the economy"......."2 years ago i was against deregulation"......"deregulation is good for the economy".....(that he doesn't know much about) yet he still voted for deregulation...why vote for something u were against....wall street lobbyists perhaps?...u be the judge
its funny how a black ivy league scholar can be called stupid as compared to a guy who was almost dead last in his college years.....think about it...and he has retarded palin....DUR!!!
Guess who else was last in school, hmmm oh yes, Einstein. Oh but since he was last in his class must mean he's stupid right? What an ignorant fool you are, thinking that one's intelligence lies in their ability to make a grade. You could be a potential rocket scientist and graduate last if you simply didn't feel like doing any homework.
yea...but just because u graduated near last doesn't mean u're a genius....not to mention einstein was bored of college, and failed out....and mccain hasnt made any breakthrough in physics or any other science to show that he's a genius....hmmmm i think it's funny how u repubs can always rationalize u're guy as being smart, even when all of the evidence points the other way.....just like G dubya......even though barack graduated from harvard?...hmmmmmm....racism perhaps?
Well it may help your case if you used proper english and grammar when you wrote. Also I'm so glad you cemented your ignorance when you implied I was racist. What about all the black people not voting for McCain? I suppose they aren't racist? Just because you're "not" voting for someone doesn't make you a racist. Also, Martin Luther King. Jr. (one of my personal heroes) was a Republican! Oh and guess who founded the Republican party? Abraham Lincoln! The same guy who abolished slavery!
So it is interesting that you correlate being Republican with being racist. So all the "evidence" that shows Obama has links to religious extremists, and Palistinian extremists, and domestic terrorists and organizations like ACORN has no stock? Take some classes, learn to think for yourself, and take political science so you will have an easier time understanding that George W. isn't the reason for your pathetic thought processes.
1st off im not writing a college thesis..if i was maybe then i'd care about my english..2nd Martin luther was republican because of his staunch christian beliefs, but today tha republican party has become a party that likes to dissuade black voters (which is why i think a lot of republicans are racist) with bullshit..I.E. "u'll be arrested if u come to vote and have warrants out for your arrest" or my personal favorite "if u're house has been foreclosed on and u havent re-registered
then no voting"..that is the kind of beauracratic bullshit that i hate with the republican party...It's hard to not think that there are racist qualities in a party where there's always some way to disenfranchise voters and the higher percentage of the voters affect by this new "rule" are black...and while we're talking about history Lincoln didnt abolish slavery for our sake he did it to disrupt the souths revenues during the civil war...u may not be racist...but a lot of repubs. are fuel by it
When you take away the risk as the Democrats and Bill Clinton did with the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act (Clintons version became law 1/31/2005) then deregulation can become a problem. Remember Liberals, it's Bill Clinton that signed both of these into law. The artificially inflated subprime market that was created by Democrats meant Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guaranteed risky loans...look it up. Free market and deregulation is not the problem bad Gov't policy is.
The free market is a sham! It doesn't exist. Government regulation will always be in place and is always needed. Human beings are GREEDY and WILL STOP AT NOTHING to turn a profit. American businessmen have proven this in the past- they enslaved, tortured, and murdered blacks, they chained 8 year olds to factory machines for 18 hours a day, they sold poisoned food products, they locked workers indoor to perish in factory fires etc.
Government regulation is needed to curb HUMAN GREED! Ds and Rs
The financial debacle we are currently experiencing is a result of the misuse of deregulation. Deregulation is not the villain. The villains here are the miss-users of freedom. Thats right I said freedom because that is what deregulation was. In the case of deregulation the benefit was unfettered freedom to grow to the fullest combined potential of investor and leadership. The responsibility was to do so within the ethical boundaries of sensible business practice and financial liquidity.
In the case of deregulation the cost should have been nothing so long as the responsibilities of freedom were not ignored or abandoned by those in charge. In truth taxpayers should have experienced relief from the cost of oversight if done right. However because in our case the rules of responsibility were broken, we now find ourselves left with an unimaginable bill. Once again this is not because deregulation failed but because men when given freedom tend to abuse their freedoms.
So when the government lifted their restrictions on banking and business over the past 30 years they did so with the vision that the corporate world could do a better job at generating wealth and growing the American economy with the government out of the way. With all that said, we have experienced the fastest and greatest expansion of wealth in American history over the interim since deregulation took place. So we can fairly say that the vision was right.
So what went wrong was not the vision but the vermin, greedy CEOs and corporate lobbyist and investors who saw public companies as their ticket to fill their portfolios and establish their nest egg.
The crisis we are now facing was directly caused by McCain advisor Phil Gramm, and his unwillingness to curtail the hideously-lucrative derivatives market. These are the kinds of people to which Sen. McCain is listening, and, as we can see, the results can be disastrous.
As Senator Obama states repeatedly, this unprecedented crisis is the final verdict on the discredited ideology that sets forth the notion that market regulations of any sort are bad.
Like so many other things, markets are more complex than many Republicans prefer to believe. Their simplemindedness is officially obsolete now. The world is not divided into black and white, good and bad, or right and wrong. And, markets do not perform efficiently when guided only by the invisible hand.
Yea! Like Warren Buffet, who is an Obama supporter! That guy doesn't know the first thing about finance! He must have been hypnotized by obama.
Or could it be that he has made over 40 billion from being a financial guru and wants to elect the guy that will do things to actually add value to his investments.
You can think rationally Tornadoes, I believe in you...
It appears that people are voting for Obama just because the economy is bad. That makes no sense. Bush is the president right now, not McCain. Bush is not running for another term and Dick Cheney is not even running for one. People like you blame presidents for bad economies and give him credit for good economies (the president has absolutely nothing to do with the economy:check sources). Go read the book "Prices and production". I am not having this discussion with idiots.
Presidents have the final say on bills unless there is a huge senate majority, so they must shoulder a lot of responsibility for political, and by extension economic fallout, especially when the president is for deregulation. They approve tax and environmental regulations.
McCain is calling for MORE deregulation, I guess even "better" than Bush... Bush is not running for president this time, yes, this is correct, however McCain is NOT ANY DIFFERENT, perhaps even worse. Dick Cheney is not running for VP, this is also correct, but McCain is already said that Dick Cheney will probably hold one of major positions in McCain's team. You are not having any discussion with idiots also correct.. You wasn't talking to your self, which means you wasn't talking to idiot(s)
Are you kidding? The economy didn't become the big issue until a few weeks ago. Obama has been gathering steam and leading in the polls for over a year because HE IS AGAINST THE WAR! The ecomomy is just a bonus issue. Think about this... spending $10 billion A MONTH for a war in Iraq is something the President DOES have control over. And McCain wants to keep shoveling that kind of money- maybe more- into Iraq. We can't afford it anymore. Our economy can't support it and McCain will bankrupt us.
You can wait until the end of time for all I care. I don't care what it says in YOUR favorite book. There is a HUNDRED MILLION different books on the economy.... and you found the best one. OK!!
McCain should have gone to prison for a long time for his part in the Keating Five scandal. Crooks in the White House lead to economic meltdown, it's pretty obvious.
EVERYONE should stop calling the Government's decision to "BAILOUT" the GREED of FREE CAPITALIST a "BAILOUT" and call it by it's RIGHTFUL name: The assistance, especially money, food, and other necessities, given to the needy or dispossessed = WELFARE, a word, that until they were THE dispossessed, REPUBLICANS vehemently opposed.
no amount of new regulation or oversight (by the way, that IS an inside political joke) board will stop corporate america from doing what they do. the politicians get bought in order to have their office or post.
We always want the best for our family, for us and for our country and we are proud of our country... Then there is only ONE choice in this election: WE DESRVE BETTER... WE DESERVE OBAMA !!!
If you only knew... the meaning of the word treachery, treason, infidelity, these are the words that describe all government. Government has been subverted. These men and women in the government are treasonous reptiles who serve other powerful entities. The office of President or Prime Minister is completely and utterly irrelivant.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

Nervous about your retirement account? Mccain picked a candidate who doesn't understand the bush doctrine. She was a hockey mom and mayor of a towne with 6000 residents 3 years ago. Mccain thinks the fundamentals of the economy are sound. If he has one melanoma, god forbid. His latest mistake in a lifetime of mistakes will be unprepared, alaska independence party supporter, president. WAKE UP SHEEP. • 12 years teaching law University of Chicago Law • Obama 2008
Federal Reserve plows $30 billion into money markets overseas..The Fed's action sets up temporary "swap" arrangements to supply dollars to the central banks of Australia, Denmark, Norway and Sweden in exchange for their currencies.(EURO) REPUBLICANS & CHRISTIANS ARE TO BLAME FOR THIS(GOYHIMS)"ONE WORLD ORDER"
..Soon the Christians will close their church doors..Republicans will try and lie saying there not REPUBLICANS anymore..Afraid of the back lash comming..NO FLYING AWAY...LOL..Death Will Find Them Soon by their own hands
Jon mccains son worked at the silver bank on the board. His job was to review the numbers. The son quit the bank, citing personal reasons. The bank collapsed 2 months later. Depositers lost 20 million$. Multiple accounts must be at differnt banks to be insured to 100k. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Mccains son does not know economics either. The fundamentals are sound. Obama 2008
Deregulation of the credit markets? Uhhhm we the people are the owners of the US Dollar and yet they want to "DEREGULATE" the credit market? How do you deregulate what belongs to the public trust? First you must steal it. The US Dollar (in theory) belongs to the people.
you must be trapped in the past. palin much killed mccain's chance. everyone thinks she's a joke now. you can keep on laughing though. maybe it will keep you happy after obama gets elected because even republicans don't want a dopey palin ending up as president now. jokes on you.
Hahahahahaha, like I said "you must be trapped in the past." Keep up with the news.
Palin's hype is over. Stop taking about things that happened weeks ago. Hahahaha, Palin is done. Her novelty is over and now she's just a joke. It's OK if you still have posters of her photoshopped as Wonder Woman. You'll need it to keep your hopes up for 2012, but Obama will probably just get re-elected. Hahaha, wake up!
Obama sux!!! I know!! I am on my sisters account right now! whenever anyone sees the screen name they say o u arent of voting age!! She is 13 I am 23!!!! I loove the screen name BTW :D
Horsemanreturns - O my...McCain is better? Are you kidding...haven't you watched the videos of how many times McCain lies and contradict himself? Repeat after me, "THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE ECONOMY ARE STRONG". That lying ass McCain.
The absolute GALL (!) of the Bush administration - urging congress to "act quickly on bailout" or "risk recession" . . .
How ABSURD and SHAMEFUL! His supporters may have been "dumbed down", but the rest of America is not THAT stupid!
The REAL recession is ALREADY UNDERWAY (!) and it IS going to get worse - regardless of any "bailout" - thanks to their "blank check" approach to governing!
If you are involved enough to post on Youtube backing Obama, then you ought to be out right now canvassing for Democrats. Have you spoken with your neighborhood and church about how Democratic plans will help them? Have you visited Obama's site to donate? Have you asked everyone if they are voting and made sure they understood Obama's plans? BOOTS ON THE GROUND WIN ELECTIONS. There are people without healthcare (like my uncle) whose lives depend on this election. We honestly need you to help.
John McBush was pals with crook, Charles Keating busted during the S & L scandals. After convincing Congress to stop regulating the Savings and Loans, McBush went to bat for Keating in Congress, working to get them to deregulate, so that they could lie, cheat, and steal. Cindy destroyed the documents for Lincoln Savings too. The deregulation that McCain helped push through in the 80's has come back to destroy America today. Do we really want this crook in charge?
LIER McLAME....Your what I call: "ONCE UPON A TIME"...Your looks show DEATH is walking you to your GRAVESIDE: Sarah Pain is what you call: "BIPOLAR DEPRESSION"...The Daugther is BIPOLAR too...SARAH shows sings of needing MEDS...In other words....Sick!!...Very SICK!!...People that have been in contack with her....Know something is wrong in her life but...won't tell her to her face

Their philosophy is the problem: McCain, Bush, and NeoCons in general, have been accusing Dems of trying to socialize our country everytime Dems try to put in place measures to protect the middle class. GOPers quickly want to label liberals as commies, socialists, even terrorirsts, when Dems try to make sure that the public interest is safe. Look at the fruits of Neo-Conservatism and McCain believes that their simple formula somehow wil work next time. The GOP, Bush and McCain are wrong.
It was Bush who called to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 17 times in 2008. It was the Clinton Administration that forced these banks and lending institutions to lend to people who could not pay back this money. What we need, deregulation and the government to stop telling banks and lending institutions who to lend too. The government must stay out of private institutions. Pray that McCain is voted into office and that Republics take back Congress and get rid of this do nothing congress.
Denial won't solve the problems our country is facing right now. The GOP is guilty, you may like it or not, but... it's the truth. The Democrats Senate majority of 50, over 49 Republicans and 1 indy for the last year and a half is no real majority. Repubs had been in control of congress since 1996. Bush vetoes and GOP filibuster in congress for political gains, have crippled the Dem slim majority.
It was true that Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 was overturned in 1999 but do you realize who was main architect of the bill? Phil Gramm, economy adviser to McCain. So don't try to portray as if Republicans are on side of middle class. Nice try though.
Furthermore, your kind of thinking that started this mess in the first place and you want govt to stay out? Are you high? I hope you are in the sake of retardness!!!
I agree with USB06: McCain's 'economic advisor' is Phil Gramm, and he is the author of the bill that deregulated the banks AND the author of the dead-of-night bill that allowed the creation of unregulated, unmonitored CDS instruments (Credit Debt Swaps) that currently underlie the imminent failure of our financial system. Also? The guy who DEMANDS that Bank CEOs be able to walk away with millions of dollars in this bailout? Rebpublican GW Bush.
The republican administration wants o give a blank check to wall street ($700 billion dollars at least).
Obama and his advisors consider that we need to set an independent supervisory board for the bailout, and we also need to set provisions to help the middle class people heavily affected by the mortgage crisis.
Obama just did a news conference (something Palin will never do) to explain which is his position in these critical times and answered open questions.
Obama will raise taxes, John McCain will never raise taxes, Obama will have a bigger government to take more of your freedoms away, John McCain would never increase the size of government, Obama would surender the war on terror, John McCain would never surrender
Obama too inexperienced, too much Govermnet too much taxes Not ready to lead
McCain voted for the deregulation that allowed this disaster to happen. Unless you make over $250.000 a year you taxes will go down. This bailout proposal is designed to bail out the short selling, greedy sob's and
the corporate thieves that have ruined our economy. The rest of the free would is not going to accept this bailout plan because they
He is their "Poster-Boy" the "old grandfather" type "everyone can trust."
How many times has he reversed his positions already? His number one job, to secure executive power for the Republicans and hand it back over to them. After that, he will just read what ever speeches they give him and smile for the camera's. His one and only commitment is to "THE PARTY."
"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself." The 2008 Republican Party Platform. Wow,Johnny! Can you believe it's been a month since the convention? That was back when you were still a champion of deregulation. Now? Not so much. But in a month? Who knows! You may change your mind again. Straight Talk Express? Try Magical Mystery tour.
There's really not much difference between regulation and deregulation when our elected servants pander to the special interest groups and lobbyists during regulated and deregulated markets.
Neither McCain or Obama are talking about this.
How can regulation exists when corporations would still drive the decisions made in Washington?
2003 - President Bush asked Congress to let Treasury Dept. set up regulatory commission for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Democrats blocked it with Barny Frank saying "there's no crisis with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae".
2005 - John McCain co-sponsors Senate Bill S-190 called Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005. Would've set up regulations on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae including "golden parachutes". Democrats killed it. Chairman Chris Dodd top receiver of money from FM-FM.
obama is crashing and burning.. how pitiful to see his advisors only strategy rear its ugly head," lets stage a house break-in ,we'll be the poor me im a victim".liberaliswm IS a mental disorder, and, lately its looking mysogenic too
Hey Liberal FUCKHEADS... -WAR FOR OIL IS GOOD (Dead towelheads is a BONUS) -BUSH and OREILLY are your GODS (Kneel before them) -REPUBLICANS OWN YOU (always will) -OUR DIRTY TRICKS TRUMP YOUR LOUD PROTESTS Finally, WITHOUT YOU, there would be nobody to help us: 1-Make our Latte's 2-Serve us at a restaurant 3-Clean our offices 4-Give police much needed 'aggression relief' 5-Fill our Prisons 6-Distract Europe while we prepare to fuck them over (again) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
dear robertfjll, you menta midget mongoloid moron...bush gave you what you asked clinton for...easing regs for the 'poor' disenfranchised.quit ur whining and eat ur crow like a good lib
im Mccain id hate to interrupt But its against the law to jump off this bridge Youll just have to kill yourself somewhere else A tourist might see you And republicans wouldnt want that Im just doing my job, you know So say uncle And well take you to the mental health zoo Force feed you mind-melting chemicals Til even the outside world looks great
The USA is in the toilet yet there are so many racists left there that the best man for the job by a thousand country miles might not get the job. What a sad place.
About the bailout, have you seen the news? Iraq war itself cause about half trillion and now we need to spend at LEAST $700 billion to resolve this mess. That adds up at LEAST 1.2 trillion dollar and the figure will go up further. US doesnt have the money to pay this. All this time US was borrowing money from China and Japan to finance the war without the raising taxes. This act itself diminish US authority and put this nation in harms way
Thats right and we can only blaim ourselves for electing republican majorities in the house and senate for way too many years. not to mention this idiot we have now---and we just might keep the misery going by electing McBush to continue on with the same fucking the middle class in this country is getting
JOHNSON was President when HE privatized Fannie and Freddie...you stupid, ignorant, blame everyone else, forgot that Carter bailed out Chrysler, forgot FDR 's new deal fuckheads.
DEMOCRATS have presided over more bailouts, welfare, wars, and costs to America than can EVER BE MATCHED.
But then, you idiots ALWAYS forget your history and whine.
wow, your argument is simply retarded. Privatizing Fannie and Freddie is not the problem in fact it helped people to get 30 year mortgage. The real problem lies when US govt deregulated industries.
If you don't know any hint of history then I recommend shut the fuck up. First FDR needed spent money in order to move the economy along in which Herbert Hoover fucked the economy.
Oh Yea The Great Herbert Hoover McCain's hero-he and bush, and the reNAZIcan Party are just like and think like good old Herbert-the great depression-hoover huts cardbord boxes---elect mcbush and U can move out of the doublewide directly into a fully furnished cardbord box. They will finish what the idiot little george/chaney and the republicans have started-eleminate the middle class, thats the "new world order" that daddy bush kept referring to while he was president and its working for them.
Yes deregulation is a good thing for America. Hahahahaha. Do you really think these corporations give a fuck about the working man? We see time and time again what happens when we give away tax payer money to the "investment class"& "job creators" in another failed attempt at trickle down economic policies.
People have demonized the word change,at this point what else should we do but change? Tax cuts for the middle class (99% of us) NOT for those making over 1 million /year.
At this point tax cuts for the rich is just additional spending, increased Chinese debt, and corporate WELFARE.

Deregulation and free market competition is what makes prices drop.
TimeWarp66 2 years ago 8
My first reply down below proves that you are wrong. FLAT WRONG Then after mergers they rise the price and claim the raise on added support costs.
inachu 2 years ago
No it doesn't. You just listed claims that may or may not even be true about your various monthly bills.
TimeWarp66 2 years ago
@TimeWarp66 yet that has been completely debunked by the reality of the situation. Deregulation does NOT lower prices it gives businesses a license to take what they can however they can. This is the reality of the theory.
CSpanAddict1982 1 year ago
@CSpanAddict1982
TimeWarp66 1 year ago
@TimeWarp66 - Airlines and telecommunications are poor examples to tout the virtues of deregulation. Airline prices have not gone done and instead they are finding new ways to add profit, checked luggage, etc and service has hit an all time low.
The same with the telecommunications industry, everything is bundled and packaged and sold at high prices with poor quality returned.
Before I entered politics I was in banking and I saw what "competition" really meant.
CSpanAddict1982 1 year ago
@TimeWarp66 competition meant a race to the top for the executives and share holders at the expense of the people I was supposed to help. Give back piss poor interest and gouge, gouge, gouge, their wallets.
I left because I saw the economic model of the past thirty years could not sustain itself and I began pushing for real reforms by backing candidates who were going to reign in these corporations.
If you think for one second that private companies can't take anything by force, think again
CSpanAddict1982 1 year ago
Deregulation did drive prices down in the airline industry. A 1996 Government Accountability Office report found that the average fare per passenger mile was about 9% lower in 1994 than in 1979. Between 1976 and 1990 the paid fare had declined approximately 30% in inflation-adjusted terms.
Private companies in a free society can't take a thing by force. They can only offer up goods and services you can choose to purchase or not. Governments on the other hand do EVERYTHING by force!

@TimeWarp66 And is what creates outsourcing and reduced wages (Which ultimately ruin our economy)
Shenkoa360 1 year ago
@Shenkoa360

MindlessGlitch 2 years ago
Cop out is blaming the blow-out of the global financial system on low wage minorities. They've been pushing dereg since the 70's, not just during Clinton's term. If you quit headbanging, you might notice that ALL the financial institutions have collapsed, not just Fannie and Freddie.
Amiduffer 2 years ago

AutumnSonnet 3 years ago
AutumnSonnet 3 years ago
1st off im not writing a college thesis..if i was maybe then i'd care about my english..2nd Martin luther was republican because of his staunch christian beliefs, but today tha republican party has become a party that likes to dissuade black voters (which is why i think a lot of republicans are racist) with bullshit..I.E. "u'll be arrested if u come to vote and have warrants out for your arrest" or my personal favorite "if u're house has been foreclosed on and u havent re-registered
phatbastid 3 years ago
then no voting"..that is the kind of beauracratic bullshit that i hate with the republican party...It's hard to not think that there are racist qualities in a party where there's always some way to disenfranchise voters and the higher percentage of the voters affect by this new "rule" are black...and while we're talking about history Lincoln didnt abolish slavery for our sake he did it to disrupt the souths revenues during the civil war...u may not be racist...but a lot of repubs. are fuel by it
phatbastid 3 years ago

The responsibility was to do so within the ethical boundaries of sensible business practice and financial liquidity.
neveralwaysright 3 years ago
In the case of deregulation the cost should have been nothing so long as the responsibilities of freedom were not ignored or abandoned by those in charge. In truth taxpayers should have experienced relief from the cost of oversight if done right. However because in our case the rules of responsibility were broken, we now find ourselves left with an unimaginable bill. Once again this is not because deregulation failed but because men when given freedom tend to abuse their freedoms.
neveralwaysright 3 years ago
So when the government lifted their restrictions on banking and business over the past 30 years they did so with the vision that the corporate world could do a better job at generating wealth and growing the American economy with the government out of the way. With all that said, we have experienced the fastest and greatest expansion of wealth in American history over the interim since deregulation took place. So we can fairly say that the vision was right.
neveralwaysright 3 years ago
So what went wrong was not the vision but the vermin, greedy CEOs and corporate lobbyist and investors who saw public companies as their ticket to fill their portfolios and establish their nest egg.
neveralwaysright 3 years ago
The crisis we are now facing was directly caused by McCain advisor Phil Gramm, and his unwillingness to curtail the hideously-lucrative derivatives market. These are the kinds of people to which Sen. McCain is listening, and, as we can see, the results can be disastrous.
zideaz 3 years ago
As Senator Obama states repeatedly, this unprecedented crisis is the final verdict on the discredited ideology that sets forth the notion that market regulations of any sort are bad.
Like so many other things, markets are more complex than many Republicans prefer to believe. Their simplemindedness is officially obsolete now. The world is not divided into black and white, good and bad, or right and wrong. And, markets do not perform efficiently when guided only by the invisible hand.

It appears that people are voting for Obama just because the economy is bad. That makes no sense. Bush is the president right now, not McCain. michaeljackson200 3 years ago
Presidents have the final say on bills unless there is a huge senate majority, so they must shoulder a lot of responsibility for political, and by extension economic fallout, especially when the president is for deregulation. They approve tax and environmental regulations.
Justinsax1 3 years ago

And McCain wants to keep shoveling that kind of money- maybe more- into Iraq. We can't afford it anymore. Our economy can't support it and McCain will bankrupt us.

No more credit card (BIG DEBT) presidents!

Bush Snr = BROKEN Economy
Bush Jnr = MORE BROKEN Economy
McCains own advisor & ex-CEO of Hewlitt Packard said "McCain couldn't run a major company".
McCain openly says "I don't understand economics".
Palin took her small town of 9,000 people from surplus into debt.
McCain = ???

Let's re-wind.
Don't let the neo-cons with their heads stuck where the sun don't shine try to pin any off this on Clinton.
There was no problem with excessive home defaults under Clinton!
But when it looked like Bush would lose in 2004 BOB PERRY and other big HOMEBUILDERS gave MANY MILLIONS to run the Swift-Boat ads.
Then Bush paid them back...even Mortgage Brokers I talked w/ where shocked for they no longer had to verify income & assets.
And then the House of Cards fell apart!

Pray that McCain is voted into office and that Republics take back Congress and get rid of this do nothing congress.
knwswhtImtalkingbout 3 years ago
Denial won't solve the problems our country is facing right now. The GOP is guilty, you may like it or not, but... it's the truth. The Democrats Senate majority of 50, over 49 Republicans and 1 indy for the last year and a half is no real majority. Repubs had been in control of congress since 1996. Bush vetoes and GOP filibuster in congress for political gains, have crippled the Dem slim majority.

knwswhtImtalkingbout,
It was true that Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 was overturned in 1999 but do you realize who was main architect of the bill? Phil Gramm, economy adviser to McCain. So don't try to portray as if Republicans are on side of middle class. Nice try though.
Furthermore, your kind of thinking that started this mess in the first place and you want govt to stay out? Are you high? I hope you are in the sake of retardness!!!
USB06 3 years ago
I agree with USB06: McCain's 'economic advisor' is Phil Gramm, and he is the author of the bill that deregulated the banks AND the author of the dead-of-night bill that allowed the creation of unregulated, unmonitored CDS instruments (Credit Debt Swaps) that currently underlie the imminent failure of our financial system. Also? The guy who DEMANDS that Bank CEOs be able to walk away with millions of dollars in this bailout? Rebpublican GW Bush.
Republicans Lie. You pay.

LEADER IN ACTION.

McCain voted for the deregulation that allowed this disaster to happen. Unless you make over $250.000 a year you taxes will go down. This bailout proposal is designed to bail out the short selling, greedy sob's and
the corporate thieves that have ruined our economy. The rest of the free would is not going to accept this bailout plan because they
know it is destined to fail.
GOD SAVE AMERICA FROM THE GOP !!!!!!!!!!!

McCain is a "TALKING HEAD SPOKES HOLE."

Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself." The 2008 Republican Party Platform. Wow,Johnny! There's really not much difference between regulation and deregulation when our elected servants pander to the special interest groups and lobbyists during regulated and deregulated markets.
Neither McCain or Obama are talking about this.
How can regulation exists when corporations would still drive the decisions made in Washington?
DrunkenPublicness 3 years ago

AmericanKnowItAll,
About the bailout, have you seen the news? Iraq war itself cause about half trillion and now we need to spend at LEAST $700 billion to resolve this mess. That adds up at LEAST 1.2 trillion dollar and the figure will go up further. US doesnt have the money to pay this. All this time US was borrowing money from China and Japan to finance the war without the raising taxes. This act itself diminish US authority and put this nation in harms way

AmericanKnowItAll,
wow, your argument is simply retarded.
