If we would have not bombed nothing but dirt during RT and instead stopped the war before it start by destroying Hanoi and mining Haiphong harbor and thus destroying any way for the Communists to make war it would have been over in months. It is sad how many soldiers died. They wouldn't have if this war hadn't been fought. North Vietnam wasn't attacking America. If America had just keepen its nose out other people's buisness and hadn't tried to be so high and mighty then those soldiers wouldn't have been killed.

that's acceptable since there were circumstances which forced america's hand but the official cause of the vietnam war was the golf of tonkin which was a setup by the American government. So there was basically no cause except the domino effect (america wanted to hinder communism from spreading).

In retrospect trying to win the war in Vietnam was kind of impossible. We could militarily defeat them any time, anywhere in the country. We won virtually every battle, but like the "redcoats" fighting the American revolutionaries we couldn't "win" by being more powerful and more professional. We beat the redcoats the same way the VC beat us. Patience and choosing when and where to fight. I have complete respect for the US fighting man, but this is just one war we should have sat out...

My respect to these veterans who fought a long, difficult and unpopular war in the sixties and seventies. It was a particularly difficult time, because the world was changing, the values were changing, there was a revolutionary attack on all fields of life, religion, tradition, authority was all under fire and under such circumstances these men came home from a war that had put their nerves to the ultimate test. Gallantry was often not recognised nor appreciated.

Personal respect for veterans doesn't mean that i approve of the war. It was set up in the first place to destroy Vietnam economically, and demographically, and put this communist regime over there. French communists together with American/ British communist traitors/financiers organised it. The infantryman on the ground was being told that he was there to fight communism. Why did they found U.S. supplies in North Vietnam? Because communism was set to win.

@HmongVangRocks Im an Aussie and have an uncle that served in Vietnam he said that when they were told that the South Vietnamese were for them they believed in the war but once they worked out over 40% were against them and most of the rest were indifferent depending on who was feeding or treating their sick then they realised it was a hopeless situation. It was a terrible war and was won by the people Vietnam but at a terrible cost to all involved.
