@TBustah The reasons Nintendo of America poses for not releasing Earthbound are shaky at best. Many games have tracks that sound similar to popular songs by popular artists, and no one has sued over it yet. Nintendo of America is just making excuses for not releasing the series in its entirety.
If the copyrights aren't an issue, and the only other thing keeping them from putting the first 2 games on VC is that they don't think they'd make their money back (Which, granted, is stupid anyway: no physical copies), then why hasn't Japan seen a VC release? The series has sold millions of copies over there, it'd be $ in the bank.
At any rate, it's stupid to complain about this anymore: just download the roms and the M3 translation patch.

If a group of people translated mother 3 into english for people to play on a rom, than it would be much easier if a whole company did it. In a company, there are multipul "teams", in this case, a translation team would translate pages of text. That information is then sent to coders, so they can re-edit the game's scripts so the text in the game is english. There is also one cut scene in which voice plays. Chances are, they'd just take it out. All together it would take 2 months. Not much

And I'm not a fan of emulations. I downloaded Mother 3 and the translation but I never played it in hopes of playing it on the GBA like it was intended.

@labrynianrebel A lot of the music in the game is based off of real-life music. And their main job is to stay ut of trouble, but music companies are sue crazy and will sue if there are unfixed problems. It won't be Mother 3 if they fix all of these.

When the Mother 3 fan translation was done. tens of thousands of people downloaded it and are still to this day. Even Nintendo was in shock at the amount. @rifall Except it can run up to 80$ just for the cartridge for Mother 3, as well as Earthbound and Mother 1+2. So the hell with Reggie for making it so hard to get legal copies of these games without emulating the ROMS.

@rifall I know that Mother 2 is Earthbound. I was talking about the price of the GBA compilation cartridge of Mother and Earthbound. The only game that I have gotten to import properly of any unreleased jp only game would be Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +. Worth the $40 it took to get it over here.

Nintendo of America has no control over the price of used games, especially Japanese-only releases that they never had anything to do with in the first place. If a group of people translated mother 3 into english for people to play on a rom, than it would be much easier if a whole company did it. In a company, there are multipul "teams", in this case, a translation team would translate pages of text. That information is then sent to coders, so they can re-edit the game's scripts so the text in the game is english. There is also one cut scene in which voice plays. Chances are, they'd just take it out. All together it would take 2 months. Not much

I remember when the virtual console was a major selling point for the Wii and how I dreamed of seeing Mother 1 + 2 released on it.
And I'm not a fan of emulations. I downloaded Mother 3 and the translation but I never played it in hopes of playing it on the GBA like it was intended.

@labrynianrebel A lot of the music in the game is based off of real-life music. And their main job is to stay ut of trouble, but music companies are sue crazy and will sue if there are unfixed problems. It won't be Mother 3 if they fix all of these.

We got 7 of the 9 games, 1 show, and very few bits of localized manga. Why don't the execs at CC2 Corp release the other stuff? Because they don't look at the bigger picture. Business isn't everything when it comes to the video game industry. The entire industry is built on developing a fanbase. Reggie hasn't even played the games. That is why WE ARE PISSED!

@DanteWolfwood That is where you are wrong. From a business perspective, Mother on the Virtual console or on a DS compilation pack would be rather profitable. Give the coverage for the Mother series both by the internet and Super Smash Bros., people are obviously interested in seeing where Ness and Lucas came from. Now would be the perfect time to re-release these games to the public. Mother is a series that Nintendo of America has really neglected to take care of. Reggie could be doing better.

Now would be the perfect time for the mother series to be release in the us. When earthbound was said to go on virtual console it got HIGH up on the list. When the Mother 3 fan translation was done. tens of thousands of people downloaded it and are still to this day. Even Nintendo was in shock at the amount. They have no reason not to release this game.
