It is an off beat. Problem is, none of you know jazz. Duh! If I were him, however, I might omit the bass drum on the off beat and play snare and cymbal, having been set up with the bass drum on four. Of course, this all depends on what the horns are playing. Also, I had to give the video a high rating to off set the ignorant-ass ratings that preceded mine.

I can not think of a specific video. I can recommend looking up Peter Erskine on You Tube. Evan's channel has some clips from his teaching video. Also, John Riley has some stuff.

Umm, to all the people saying that is not an offbeat, you're are incorrect. In jazz or big band/swing that IS the offbeat. The third partial of the triplet is the offbeat for any swung music.

Before making comments you should really know what you're commenting on. This video is absolutely 100% correct.

lol I just started playing a basic jazz beat today fro the hell of it and figured that out immediately. I would hardly call that off beat, and it definately is not intermediate, thats about as basic as it gets
