Filipinos, along with many other countries, love American songs and cover them. The Philippines is not the only place, go to Europe and you'll hear many remakes. Kyla's one of the most original singers in the Philippines and in her albums she only has a few remakes. Also, just because they're singing American songs doesn't make them wannabees. American songs are popular worldwide, so why not sing them? Songs aren't meant for just the original to sing them.
