  • The hand drawn computer animations never cease to amaze me.

  • DA is a brilliant writer.

However Proof does not deny faith; neither does God's existence depend upon man's belief. Many things exist for which man has no belief.

Faith seems more & more used for just up & believing without evidence or contrary to evidence. But that is NOT what faith (pistis) is. Faith is being convinced that something is so or trusting in. Faith (belief) may be based on no reason, some reason, sufficient reason, proof, or self-evidence.

  • Faith: Some people are gullible, credulous & believe without sufficient reason or trust con-men. Others are paranoid & don't trust what they shud trust. I put it to u that proper faith is the resting of the soul in the sufficiency of the evidence & in the obviousness of the self-evident.

  • What shud I believe? How do I know that something is true?

One may reason: A is true becs of B.

But how do u know B is true?

B is true becs of C.

But how do u know that C is true?

C is true becs of D.

    But how . . .

One can see that this sort of proof proves nothing, becs a proof can always be demanded for the proof. & it leads to an infinite incomplete series.

Thus one must have a starting point, axioms, truths so immediately self-evident that they are not proved, but used for proof.

  • I exist.

    If A = B, the A + C = B + C.

These are axioms. If I stated reasons for believing them I wud be more sure of the axioms that I was of the reasons or proofs. To do logic, one must have self-evident truths from which to start.

The framers of the Declaration of Independence seem to have understood this when they said, "We hold these truths to be self-evident that . . . blah blah."

    2 axioms:

    1) The God of the Bible exists.

    2) The Bible is the Word of God.

  • I hold these 2 axioms to be self-evident & thus needing no proof:

    1) The God of the Bible exists.

    2) The Bible is the Word of God.

One must affirm them or deny them for oneself. He who doubts is invited to seek the face of the Lord, seek to perceive Him directly & affirm it for Himself; to read the Bible & find out if he can hear the voice of God speaking.

  • @MrRudyjj You know the chests Ford was going through? They were actually old Dr Who props.

  • @alcockell

DA wrote Pirate Planet, the 1st in the series of The Key to Time. It was a great Dr. Who episode. I'm not sure what else DA wrote for Dr. Who.

  • I quite like the movie actually. But this sticks way closer to the book

  • All right I've had this BS. How is that the Brits are the funniest species in the universe? Americans and Canadians can get a laugh or two but the damned English, with some Scot, Welsh, even Irish input can rupture a gut with humour so totally off the wall it's just not fair. I'm tired of picking myself up off the floor while watching Hitchiker or the Pythons or even Carry On whatever. Stop it!

  • @deriter64 Thanks man, that make me feel a lot better for some reason ;)

  • A ZILLION times better than that piece of shite movie...mos deef SUCKED as Ford Precet

  • I love the Babel fish in the movie... OMFG the cow!

  • David Dixon is such a lousy actor and he doesn't remind me of Ford at all

  • haven't seen this in close to thirty years -- I love the interwebs! thx for posting it.

  • No bananas in Scranton P.A.

    30,000lbs of mashed bananas

  • @Timeofflux do you mean journey of the sorcerer ?

  • Mostly harmless. :)

  • the whole "non existence of of god" thingy is a lot of dingo kidneys if you ask me

  • Arthur's face at 4:31 = Woody from Toy Story

  • Gods, I remember watching this on TV with friends. Thanks for posting!

  • this is the greatest five-book trilogy in the world.

  • @spinynorman230 six book trilogy now.

  • lmfgdao

  • i love these old fashioned computer graphics

  • @KybernetikKollektiv Actually, the most interesting thing about the "computer graphics" in this TV series is that they aren't, in fact, computer graphics at all.

    It's all hand-drawn animation

But just made to look like computer graphics by the style and by illuminating it, as if it were light being emitted by a screen.

  • @KlaxonCow thats so cool

  • OMG!!! My surname is Prosser!!

  • Great music!

  • They didn't have the budget for a lot of second takes, I'm guessing.

  • @bar1scorpio I know that I shouldn't respond to comment this old, but the BBC's mini-movies and TV series(es?) were fairly low-budget. However, that's part of the charm. Watch their Narnia series. That's low-budget.

  • @PlINGIO549 Not disagreeing that it's part of the charm. But also speaks of the age when they were made. Not a lot of funding to put towards... anytyhing, really.

  • i love how they have the whole argument disproving god is in this.

  • My mother's got a Ford Prefect jacket with a Star Trek badge on it. XD

  • I much prefer this to the film they made a few years back.

  • Mostly harmless :L

  • What's so bad about being drunk?

    - Ask a glass of water.

  • surprisingly faithfull rendition.

  • Made almost 30 years ago!

  • @davewatcher technically the book if a faithfull rendition of this. The radio show came first which influenced the TV series (this) which influenced the book. Eventually made into a dreadfull full length feature film. (the best part was the opening theme)

  • babel fish like the tower of babel its bloody brilliant .lol

  • Ford Prefect's costume (and shoes in particular) looks to have influenced the Doctor's costume a bit LOL.

  • No, that's how we all dress in betelgeuse

  • @WizFizz

Exactly what i was thinking. Plus he is almost as much as a BAMF as the Doctor.

  • @WizFizz thats what I was thinking

  • @WizFizz tom baker...

  • @WizFizz i thought that too

  • @WizFizz I like to think of the Ford as being similar to the Doctor, except without all the heroism, time travel and angst. He's just a hoopy frood who knows where his towel is.

  • @WizFizz Actually, it was probably the other way around

  • it just boiled away into space.

i'm a bit upset about that.

  • oh well

  • all gone.

    nothing left.

  • at 0:52 does it say "i'll be cruel to a gin and tonic again" ?

  • No I'll never be cruel...

  • i can't hear the never. i even played it over and over with the speakers up to my ear

  • he proves that black=white and get killed on the next zebra crossing ha ha ha lolz....

  • this is great.

  • whats wrong with being drunk-
