When the Waltons first begins its in the depression era and they not only had indoor plumbing but they had hot water also. Now at that age, its probably in the 40's, so I'm sure the hand held showers were around.

And Beenana9 I have you beat, we didn't have indoor plumbing till my Jr. year in high school, that would be 1981!!! Can you say BRRR! on those cold winter mornings. We had wood heat also, can you say "I love my quilt!"
