  • IT SEEMS THE SUB-PUMP AND PVC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS ARE MORE EFFICIENT AND PROBABLY CHEAPER TO BUILD AND EASIER TO MAINTAIN FOR A HOME HOBBY. I HAVE SEEN MUCH BETTER RESULTS. I DO LIKE THE SETUP YOU HAVE USING PLASTIC LINER IN A WOOD FRAME. HOW IS THE LID AFFECTED BY THE WATER AND IS IT WARPING? WOULD A PLASTIC LID BE BETTER THAN PLYWOOD?

  • The reason why your plans wont sprout is because the PH balence is messed up. Buy an electric ph tester and always test the water where your pump is and you should have tested the rock wool properly. Lemons are way to acidic and probally killed most of your seeds. PH is one of the most important factors in any plants.

  • how would putting mister nozzles change it to a hydroponics system,, thats rubbish

  • dude I can tell you for sure that your seeds are reaching for light. They need more blue spectrum light. The reason I know this is because of the length your sprouts are growing between joints. Don't give up dude! remember, when plants grow they need nitrogen and blue light and when they flower or make fruit they need P and red light =]

  • You need sprayers , not just a fogger .

  • I don't think you understand the difference between hydro and aero.Using misting nozzles doesn't make it hydroponic.Check out a few aeroponic systems on youtube. You got the basics, just need more information!!

  • You could try using a water pump and mister nozzles opposed to the nebulizer.

  • While I believe that would work, that would change it from an Aeroponics system to a Hydroponics system. Thanks for the sugestion though.

  • Hydroponics is simply growing without soil or with inert mediums, using a nutrient rich solution to feed the roots. Aeroponics is a form of hydroponics. It's is "Aero" because the plants are feed from underneath out of the water. Not submerged like Ebb&Flow, DWC, FND, etc..

  • @OutdoorTraveler You should read the wiki on Aeroponics. It is pretty clear about the definition. You are confusing it with a fogponics or fogger system.

  • @OutdoorTraveler Hydroponics is fully submerging a majority of the roots into aerated nutrient solution. Like a ebb table, DWC and others. Aeroponics is when you let the roots hang down in air then the roots are either misted or sprayed by the nutrient solution. The exposure of the roots to the air and not being submerged is the key.

Your poor plants need more light. Thats why the stems are so long.

  • @OutdoorTraveler No, it wouldn't. The definition of aeroponics is: the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil or an aggregate medium. The air environment is the root zone, which requires 100% humidity, but that does not hydroponics make. As long at the root zone is in mid-air with a spray of nutrients at the top and a nutrient film at the bottom, you're fine. And, you know, efficient.
