Bought one of these after getting a 980X CPU. High end audio makes me laugh! I was unable to find suitable VIA drivers for the optical output to enable 5.1 surround or Dolby Digital Live. Ended up going back to my old mother board with realtek audio.

my experience with MSI: I've had nothing but trouble with that board and now the BIOS is all gone to hell.

My experience with ASUS: worked right out of the box.

Gonna order this one right now. Or does anyone have any other good ASUS idea's? Let's say money is not a realy issue atm. Though 400 for a mobo..? I've got an i7 950, 2x XfX 5870, a sound card and 2 1TB harddrives and a 900W PSU. oh, and a HAF922 case... (in case size matters)

@iwhitecastle gene is a micro atx board meaning its smaller, cheaper, more portable than the extreme its useful for lan party gamers or competitive gamers, but it can also be used for people who want high end performance for a cheap price on the other hand the extreme is larger and has more space for vid cards and is just more roomy :P

For people who don't know - on the DIMM slots, the 1 clip method is also designed not just for easy DIMM installation, but to allow longer Graphics Card PCBs to fit on the board (e.g. any large graphics card, especially a 5870 or a 5970 (well they would expect you to, it's an REIII board after all :P)
